    We lived in Dallas for a year. Also lived through the frozen grid issues of Feb '21. It was so cold, no heat. Grew up in Canada so no winter wimp here. Summer crazy hot and humid. Even a day when it's 75, add the heat index from high humidity and you can easily overheat. We did like it overall but have moved away. Cockroaches are as described and will be all over your house, impossible to get rid of.

He did not miss 🤣 but because I’ve lived all over the United States: IL, CA, MI, GA, OH, MI just to name a few states and ya know some of the things he mentioned you’ll find in all of those places. So I guess it’s choose the devil you know and do your research and find a neighborhood you can stand to live and work in. If you want to save money, then I strongly suggest that you get an oscillating electric fan. You might want to also take a cold shower and wear a cold towel around your neck in the evening. I used to live in Bangkok, Saigon, and Merida, Yucatan all places where it's over 90 degrees every day with about 80 percent humidity ten months out of the year. Also keep your windows cracked open at night. Do the same with your car.

    I went to Dallas for a few work trips in the past. I remember one evening coming back from a dinner, a group of us walked down the sidewalk and when I happened to look down...lawd. What I thought was some leaves blowing by actually happened to be a literal sea of roaches just scurrying around. There were some as large as my hand. I would never live there because I can only imagine how many I would find in a house

    • @kimberlyvinson9047
      @kimberlyvinson9047 Před rokem

      Those aren't roaches they are water bugs, looking for water just like humans.
      If you have bugs inside your home then you're probably not taking care of your business when it comes to keeping things nest and clean. Pest control should be done at least once per quarter, minimum. If there's an infestation in an Apartment community, then some of the tenants may not be keeping things clean, and management needs to take a firmer approach to eradicating the problem.
      Dallas and Ft. Worth are two completely separate cities , both have their own separate city government. Dallas is in Dallas County, and Ft. Worth is in Tarrant County
      They are 28 miles apart.
      The Terminology "DFW"
      is only used to describe the Airport that serves the two cities, and sets between the two. Someone should have told this young man that before he took a job in Dallas. The electricity bill in an Apartment should not run $100 + I've been back home in Dallas since 2015, I've never had an electric bill above $80 in summer and $60-70, in the winter, now maybe during these freak winter storms you might receive a higher electric bill.
      Keep your thermostat turned down when you're leaving for the day, the A/C and or heat should not be running at the highest temp all day. The crime rate is approximately the same here as it is in any modern day metropolitan city. Just like up North, there are people who would rather commit crimes than work for what they need or want in life. Stop spreading those type falsehoods, please.
      Just tell people you didn't do your just due research before moving here, it's okay to do that, it's not a big deal. Bugs- you're in the south , the climate is much warmer for far longer than up North, which means some insects will be around a bit longer than elsewhere.
      The average speed limit in Texas is 70mph on most roads, and 75 mph on some others.
      If that's a problem then those who have a problem with it, should probably just drive the surface streets. In recent years the
      Meroplex has seen it's share of transplants from just about everywhere in the U.S. and beyond, so traffic has increased with the huge increase in population. The local housing market has seen it's share of increases with the influx of new people
      Coming to the city due to company transfers
      or those just looking to be able to afford a home, having said that ,DFW has been welcoming buyers and renters ffrom California, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, New York, New Jersey and so on and so forth. These are locales where the median home buying price is upwards of $1,000,0000,000. So coming ng here has drastically driven up the prices of homes locally. They figure that if they have people willing to pay $300,000/450,000 for a home then they are going to charge that. Same with apartments. The incomes paid in some of the cities listed above, pales in comparison to the incomes that are paid
      here in Texas. So while I understand some of your frustrations, I also want to let people know that just like anywhere you move, you've got to do your research before moving. Don't just take people's word for stuff, do your own in depth research.

    • @wheretoliveindallastexas
      @wheretoliveindallastexas  Před 2 lety +1

      Really just depends, Grand Prairie is pretty established/ but is still growing and is convenient to everything. Mansfield is a little bit more in the country side, it’s a little bit more expensive out there and is steadily growing. They have a lot of new construction communities popping up but don’t have a lot of the amenity you will find in a more developed area

    People isn't friendly as mentioned, they are racist as hell, petty, competitive even to get to the red light first, lots of drivers drive drunk or stoned, good luck getting in a freeway, they rather mess your life than allow you to merge.
    Crime is up, some areas not safe at all, most restaurants per capita in the country but most places are to eat sucks, people are proid about Texas even when the thing you talking about, could be burgers, ice cream, Texas is always better, when they are not.
