Sometime after I passed age 75, my whole body became stiff and painful. Yoga postures that were once easy are now excruciating. So for me it's the whole orchard I need to work on.

Rightly said...!! For me...last winter was very tough because when I used to wake up in the morning, my lower limbs used to be so stiff that I had difficulty walking and going up and down stairs. This became the 'Low hanging fruit' for me. I followed your how to walk up and down stairs video series, hip mobility follow along and a more recent one balance for beginners and this winter my stiff limbs problem was gone...!! Great mindset is an important ingredient for well being.. Thanks a lot...for great ideas and great exercises..!!

Thank you for this. Been working on three of your videos - 2 on hips and one on getting up from the floor. Trying to concentrate on improving in these two areas before moving on. I had spinal surgery 4 year ago and your videos have made me realize that I am MUCH weaker on one side - before I started following you I was unconsciously favoring one side when going up stairs or using a step stool. Like many people I was OVERWHELMED by the thousands of videos on You Tube and was not able to focus on any one approach. But your ATM (Always Think Muscles) made so much sense, so I am sticking with you.

I have been active my whole life & now at 63 have been diagnosed with ‘gluteal tendinopathy’, I’m in pain in my glutes all the time when walking, plus hip pain. I’m trying to figure it out, don’t know why the glutes are always hurting, has been a 2 year struggle but I’ll continue with Matt’s videos, his videos for hip pain have worked so far.

Thank you! I have so many 'construction sites' on my body that it's hard to try to figure out what to do. I'm now going to focus on the thing that bothers me the most: I can't get socks on my right foot, because I can't bend my leg enough. Hip injury.

Thanks, Matt. I love the peace this video gives me. Do what you can, don't worry. Thanks for everything. I'm so much stronger and more flexible now that I'm following your ideas and doing the work. :)
And I love that little skeleton man. More of him, please.

Thanks. Catastrophising is where I really shine 😂 This old body has sure been freaking out lately, and I have to fight off the dark side with dual light sabers to keep from being sucked into a black hole. I have a whole basket of low hanging fruit, but I definitely find it challenging to create a plan and figure out a schedule that I can stick to. Appreciate your direction though this stuff.

That sounds like me. Hard to decide where to start. what exercise & how often. I started with hand/finger/wrist as I'm having problems with sleeping due to pain. Adding in Shoulders& then will progress from there. Slowly 1 thing at a time.

Such an important message, Matt! Thank you for the reminder. It's so true, we can be burdened by all the "what ifs" that you just don't know what to do. Ever since I started watching your videos, my life has changed drastically. I've always known I have bad knees, that's my low hanging fruit. I started there with your basic exercises and then moved on to other areas. I can now easily do a full Asian squat and I'm able to do a few pushups which never happened before. Keep up all the amazing work. You are an inspiration!

For me the low hanging fruit ended up being diet. I followed here for a year and my pain got a little better but was still challenging and I was confused about what to work on. I'm hyper mobile and many of the exercises are for mobility problems. I need exercises that strengthen without overstretching or reaching while being easy to master so I am not doing wrong form which can injure me.
I started the Carnivore diet on January 1st. Yes I lost weight, about 10 lbs, but what was miraculous is that most of my pain is gone. Now I only have a little pain where my actual injuries are: hip impingment and torn labrum and lower back pain from Anterior pelvic tilt. Now that I feel better pain-wise I'm able to focus on the areas of injury instead of struggling through full body pain to try and strengthen.
By the 3rd week on the diet I noticed my feet and fingers didn't hurt anymore and neither did my bad knee or the labrum injury. Now it's just working on strengthening my hip/glute/posture and I should be good to go. I'm going to keep at Carnivore and I'm starting back at the gym next week. The carnivore diet is awesome for me.

My current low hanging fruit is ankle pain. I’ve been super interested that the Aikido classes I started 4 weeks ago seems to be slowly making it better. The two moves I think are moving the needle after 12 years of ankle pain are rolling, and pivoting 180 degrees from a ready stance facing one way, to facing the other way, which we do on the balls of our feet while just barely lifting our heels. The rolls are hard to explain, but the bit relevant to my ankle is that it is both stretching my outer ankle, yet I also use the external blade of my sole and outer ankle to push myself up to standing. Anyway, I wanted to tell you because it’s a real validation for me of always think muscles. I would never have thought Martial Arts would make my ankle feel better!

    Thanks Matt!
It has been a little overwhelming lately with all my physical challenges. Just standing up from the chair is now more difficult because of hip pain presenting in the groin. Until I can fix that, I gotta use the cane to get up, and was feeling real sad about that.
But now, after your encouragement, I gotta do what I gotta do until I can get up from the chair without the cane. Right?!
    Thanks man.

Great advice that we need to hear! Have been doing just that and we need to remember that sometimes it takes persistence to make things better. We need to stop giving up after trying some strengthening/stretching movements only for a day or two. It can take a week, a month, or longer to get some results.

Thank you. I’m 75 years old, able to palm the floor, balance on right & left leg while brushing teeth. However, my right knee is arthritis and I have problems walking. Do you have any suggestions as my husband gets very irritated with my condition and I’ve fallen a few times.

New husband?! 😊 I find a rollator helps and also with fatigue, had to get one during COVID as they took away all the seating in the shopping malls. I'm 70 and tried a cane as suggested by physio as I have OA in hips. My sporty looking rollator is now my go-to. Helps prevent falls too. I have Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility too, have you checked it out as a reason? It includes fainting, low blood pressure.

The problem with this argument is that it isn’t always obvious and just because someone is doing an activity with an intention doesn’t mean they’re actually moving towards that goal.
There are several ways to correct a twisted knee and it really depends on the individual’s structure. It isn’t the same path for everyone.

And where do you start when the whole body is hanging fruit? This is a serious question, from stroke, sublaxed shoulder( left improperly diagnosed now half fat rotator cuff) broken ankle, currently a 9 month old pinched nerve. Oh yes lost 15 lbs of muscle.

My really "low hanging fruit" is pain with my jaw (TMJ). Physio involving release is just a bandage solution. Dentist is recommending Botox, which may or may not work and is costly.
Do you have anything on TMJ?
