Lisa talks about how a thinner man would have fallen to his death but a thinner man would have actually been able to pull the emergency shutdown lever
But there's no guarantee that it wasn't too late to pull the lever, and no guarantee that the lever was even working.
@@youuuuuuuuuuutube there's also no guarantee of the opposite as well genius
youuuuuuuuuuutube And you’re saying the safe bet is to plug the hole up with a morbidly obese man? I would take pulling the level over plugging the hole any day, also, plugging the hole shouldn’t have worked. Homer should have either been launched up by the pressure or the container would have exploded.
A thinner man would have been working at the plant in person and gotten to lever minutes after he knew he needed it.
@@rebelfriend2880 A thinner man would have been working at the plant and not have been able to get into the situation that caused the accident in the first place!
"And I think it's ironic that for once, Dad's butt prevented the release of toxic ga-"
"BART!"
One of my favourite lines.
Best line ever
Would’ve been even better if Marge hadn’t interrupted Bart, but as we all know, hearing someone tell it like it is isn’t always something she can handle.
mr burns actually a decent guy in this episode
That's what makes it so much funnier.
say-cred so true
Ralph was meanest.
The Old Burns was not as crazed and evil as the new one. He had his moments and was a generally better character.
He even remembered Homer's name.
"... your bravery and quick thinking has turned a potential Chernobyl to a mere Three Mile Island" what black humour in that line!
Green Whovian the people who were inside died first, don't you think?
+Touchii in Chernobyl, yes.
Yeah, comparing Chernobyl 1986 casualties to 3 Miles Island 1979, it's a wise conclusion. Such accident impossible with 3rd and 4th nuclear plant generation btw. I wonder if Mr Burns already invested in that next generation technology
@@Ahito1984 Well this episode was from 1995, one year before 3rd generation nuclear reactors were introduced (the first one being Kashiwazaki 6 in Japan). So it's safe to say this would have been a 2nd generation reactor at least.
@@Felamine Honestly, unless Burns was forced to by law, I don't think the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant is anything above the first generation, especially with all the Soviet-esque safety violations rampant throughout the facility. Those hyperboloid tower designs are more indicative of a first generation prototype plant. Second generation plants look a bit more generic and have a more conservative cooling tower. Designs that I've seen of generation III plants have very discreet constructions that I'm sure nobody would notice if it was built in a light industrial sector; they'd think it was some kind of oil refinery or chemical treatment plant.
Generation IV is still in design, but I'm sure it would follow that trend.
Mr. Burns is incredibly healthy in this episode.
Makoto Mikami normally he's weak and light as a feather
JNX
He's INVISIBLE!
His heart started pumping again from all that exercise
@@kilgoretrout321 Or from Bart's blood transfusion 🤣
I like how Homer’s explanation starts with “you gotta let me in because I’m a big fat guy”
And then the Ice cream man is all shocked as he sees a big fat guy trying to take his truck.
Homer: HEY BUDDY, YOU GOTTA LET ME IN YOUR CAR AND DRIVE ME TO THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT 'CUZ IT'S GONNA BLOW!!!!!
nearly 25 years since this episode first aired.
I just now realized Mr. Burns called an ice cream truck 'frozen pudding wagon'
Him ramming the gate when it was already open is a great gag
Please tape gags are a way to shut bitches up
Not being OCD or nothing, but I think it’s a fence...
God that's one that goes by so fast you barely even notice it.
That's the same as when he walked through the paper sliding doors in Tokyo.
I never noticed that before haha. It goes by so quick.
Funny that he is being awarded for stopping a disaster that he himself created.
+Stegodon Given that Springfield Nuclear Power Plant has been cited for uncountable safety violations in the past, its really no wonder that the whole event would be downplayed as perhaps mechanical error instead of human i.e. 'homer error.'
+Stegodon DAT'S DE JOKE.
That's Homer😺
+Stegodon Takes a real man to fix his mistakes!
And to think its the second time Homer has averted a meltdown at his plant which he himself created.
I love how the manual shutdown thing (which is kinda important) is designed to be at the most inaccessible place.
Always has been. Cause if it were on an easier place to reach, young people that are bored and need to do stupid things to impress others would push the emergency override.
@@ProfTuNichts I guarantee you that a stupid young person would be able to reach that emergency shutdown at least 50 times easier than a smart older person.
-The fingers you have used to dial, are too fat.
LMAO! 😂
+Derek Hamby That's quite more advanced smart phone than every one we used today.
"To obtain a special dialing wand, please mash the keypad with your palm now." - PRICELESS
Derek Hamby i died 😂
Why didn't homer just use a stick?
His reaction to that is priceless!
‘My Dad might have gained a little weight but he’s not some food crazed maniac!’
‘Ooh that’s raspberry!’ 😂😂😂😂
Me: You were saying, Lisa?😂😂
Homer's no food crazed maniac. He's a fat man on a mission to save everyone!
I love how finishing their exercise isn't related to the disaster at all it's just having a countdown in general raises the tension
Gas not being vented = meltdown
Homer blocks gas from being vented = Saved the day
year late comment, but homer in a way still caused a disaster. the gas _WAS_ vented, right before homer plugged it, but enough gas was vented beforehand for the tank to stabilize below critical levels. thats why burns says he turned a "potential chernobyl into a mere 3 mile island".
Wild1 P
What does any of this have to do with liberals again? You seem to just be saying something random.
@@wild1p329 fox makes fun of itself.
Sensors in the tank when the valve burst shut it down, Homer then stopped the venting.
1:15 Did Ralphie reference that time when Homer ate everything at The Flying Dutchman because it said 'All You Can It? Man I love how The Simpsons has continuity in the show!
I think so.
I thought that one and this episode were the same
@@kaikysouza9861 No they are not.
Could also be when he was kicked out of the Asian buffet.
No, because they didnt close the restaurant.
"Heck I can't decide without the pictures."
I think it's ironic that for once dad's butt prevented the release of toxic gas......BART! Haha
I almost pissed myself laughing at that gag when it first aired on TV! What a time to be alive...
@Family Guy Full Free Episodes 1080p I think he's Irish too.
"TAKE ANYTHING YOU WANT MAN TAKE IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The hi-yah-yah Iroquois twists kill me 😂😂😂
Same
This is the only episode where Mr. Burns was actually a pretty nice guy
He did call homer a gastropod at one point though
he also paid for Homer's liposuction
@@masterfarr8265 because he lost patience as a personal trainer
@@respectedgentleman4322 Still though, he put the effort.
@@respectedgentleman4322 Well imagine yourself being Homer’s weight loss trainer
"One." (Homer struggles) "One!" (Homer still struggles) "One!!" (Homer struggles more) "Bah, I'll just pay for the blasted liposuction." "Woo-Hoo!"
My favorite Simpsons ending.
lol homer looks like a turtle stuck on its back 😅
2:46- The one thing from this episode that has slightly haunted me for the longest: What was that little epiphany that Homer had before that tank cut him off?
probably a hatch
There wasn't. It was there to allow the joke to occur. Writers didn't have a finish for that line
I always assumed he was thinking of blocking the vent himself right before it actually happened
0:36“Fat don’t fail me now!!!”
💥
“D’oh!!!”
My favorite
Incredibly rare display of generosity for Mr. Burns to pay for Homer’s liposuction lol
Well he only agreed to after infuriating hours of trying to get Homer to exercise.
You say that but by the next episode Homer has gone from morbidly obese to regular obese which suggests that Mr Burns didn't pay for the full liposuction.
counter point, he did and Homer celebrated the whight loss with an all you can eat buffet.@@MythicSuns
Homer was 300 lbs in this episode, and it was considered comically obese
Mr. Burns calling the ice cream truck a "frozen pudding wagon" was very underrated.
"A potential Chernobyl into a mere 3-mile island" XD lol.
I never got this when i first watched this episode, but many years and a lot more knowledge later, i got it this time round
XD
Owiko7 hahahhaa
Owiko7 I don’t get it
Owiko7 .

I suppose if you're driving an ice cream truck it'd be weird *not* to have a sneaky little cone.
Especially if it's raspberry
lol mr burns Iroquois twists just makes the scene
DinoChook Productions >Not doing 500 Iroquois twists every work out
I am now 200 pounds of pure muscle
Most memorable scene.
That and his use of the term “frozen pudding wagon.”
Especially during the most suspenseful moments when Homer is frantically trying to get to the manual shut off switch before the tank explodes, all while his coworkers are completely unaware of a looming catastrophic disaster waiting to unfold.
"The fingers you have used to dial are too fat. To obtain a special dialing wand, please mash the keypad with your wand now."
I love how he ignores the gate to the powerplant and drives through the fence anyway.
2:44 anyone else kind of love that desperate heroic little motif of the Simpsons Theme?
I don't know why but I find the line "Frozen pudding wagon" funny.
its because you are GAY as fuck.
I guess you *really* naaaailed the style of the Comicbook guy huuuuh?
I burst out laughing when Burns called Homer a gastropod.
+Jon Bilgutay The olden days are still very much alive in Mr. Burns' world.
Mr burns still sends letters to the Prussian consulate in Siam by gyromail
What I find hilarious about this sequence, is the fact that despite being 315 lbs, Homer is still able to run to his car, Bart's skateboard, walk on a sidewalk, and climb the ladder to the manual shutdown, but still not do one crunch. That is very clever writing and irony on Homer's weight.
Ya you can't take the Simpsons seriously, whist it is funny Homer would be dead within the hour with 1/3 of his body touching radiation. Probably within 10 minutes to be fair.
The way he pulled himself out of the frozen pudding wagon wreck was very impressive too
That’s adrenaline rush for you
@@ladyspicy6840 Sugar rush 😀
Because a crunch requires you to lift your upper body up, then back down while walking requires you to well move.
"and i think it is ironic that for once dad's butt prevented the release of toxic ga-BART!!"
Hahahahahahaha
Mr Burn's exercise chant serving as a repeated cut, bad showing of priority and obliviousness, and a subtle countdown to destruction is a brilliant and hilarious touch
Burns actually did a nice thing for Homer. LOL 😄
This is the only episode where Homer was shown to actually know how something works at the nuclear plant.
I love how Lisa actually stands by her father throughout the episode.
The fact that Homer, on his way to prevent a nuclear disaster, took a second to open and consume a raspberry ice cream is why he is my hero.
Homer Simpson is the difference between _being_ fat and _owning_ it.
1:26 Oh that's raspberry
One of the best episodes
One. One... ONE!
Bah! I'll just pay for the blasted liposuction.
*WOO-HOO*
0:10, stupid bird- LMAO. My favorite episode of so many years.
Such a fantastic scene. I love how Burns is counting down until the tank explodes and even though there's no reason for it to be a countdown it feels like one in the moment.
Why do you c***s in the comments always explain the jokes to yourselves? 😅
Burns seems to have a weird sense of honor in some episodes where he's still evil, but he keeps his word even when no one can force him to
All good villains have a code of honor.
lol im crying. when he tried stopping the 2 cars
3:07 Lisa: I think it’s ironic that dad saved the day while a slimmer man would’ve fallen to his death.
Barth: And I think it’s ironic that for once dads butt prevented the release of toxic ga.......

Thin again? You were never thin Homer lol
Wasn't he normal sized in high school?
Well, even as super obese as he is in this episode, he'd still paper thin compared to Steven John Assanti.
Well least fat at least.
0:56 - 1:06 One of my all time favourite moments from the show. So well directed.
The ice cream truck music makes this scene even funnier!!!
That part where Homer flattens all of the car tires is so funny
fat don't fail me now

+Al and 3:05
the entire show is ruined
a wizard did it
The show was ruined when the new episodes came along
1:15 is one of my favourite moments of the entire show 😂
Lol love how Homer's first instinct is to blame the bird
1:45, funnier than the average simpsons show today. The show became to literal now, it seems more like a sitcom than a cartoon.
There are so many great jokes and gags in this clip that's it's like impossible to pick the best one. The Simpsons were so great during that era.
2:56 until the end is simply brilliant.
“..please mash the keypad with your palm now!” 😂😂😂😂😂

ROBERT MCGRATH oh this is one of my favourite episodes and the ice cream truck onward was just icing on the cake mmmmmmmmmm truuuuuuck
+vladmir pootis definitely a good episode
Me: You were saying, Lisa?😏
Homer saves the Day again! :) stupid bird!
thanks to his fatass ;] job well done homer
I gotta respect Mr. Burns for being helpful in the end there and at least trying to get homer fit again xD
2:04 These writers were fucking geniuses. I laughed out loud after that line.
“There’ll be time for the frozen pudding wagon later!” Can’t get over how Mr. Burns referred to an ice cream-truck
So we're not even gonna talk about how Mr. Burns was killing it at those exercises at 104 years old?
My favourite detail of this clip is the fact that the drinking bird starts swinging uncontrollably.
Drinking birds work using a temperature difference between the head and bottom and Homer’s hand warmed the bottom of the bird.
I like how the drinking bird nods 😂
2:47
Probably a what? What was Homer going to say? Aw man, this is gonna haunt me all day.
I came to this video to find out what he meant aswell
Aw no, you're not getting away that easy! Came to the comments to find that out and I still don't know!
"There's probably a way", but we will never know which one.
And probably there's no such thing.
_“There’s probably a way to shut this down from my old control panel in sector 7-G!”_
Just a thought.
..broom around here some place
That bird should've been fired on the spot! It's incompetence was intolerable!
विनी शर्मा still a better safety technician that Homer.
2:45 Not knowing the rest of what Homer was about to say will forever haunt me.
Him choking the bird is hilarious
2:44 I always found these old Simpsons dialog interrupt so hilarious. When something serious is about to happen it just cuts and something absurd takes place instead.
Mmm mm Oh its Rasberry... One of the best lines ever!
the fingers you have used to dial, are to fat

"What can I get for 30 cents"? Lol
This was always one of my favorite episodes.
"take anything you want man, take it all!" it always hits the right spot to have me laughing uncontrollably
the ice cream truck has me dead
Lisa's Food Crazed Maniac and Bart's Toxic Gas parts were the best of this clip.

Worker 1: I'll take a rocket pop!
Worker 2: What can I get for thirty cents?!
Homer: *LET GO!!!! I GOTTA GET TO THE TANK!!!!!*
[the truck crashes and tips on its side, as Homer runs out]
Worker 3: [looking at the roof of the ice cream truck after it flipped over] Heck, I can't decide without the pictures.
😂
Dan voice-acting that rambling Homer to the car and the ice cream van was awesome!
The animation of Homer falling through the gas is something else!
"Push out the jive...bring in the love."
Homer may have been incompetent, but at least he knew where the manual shutoff valve was.
I love how there's an opening in the fence but he just crashes through it regardless.
I always get excited when the frozen pudding wagon comes down my block!
The black guy with the red headband wants to know what he can get for 30 cents, and then a second later he's back to doing Iroquois twists. Don't make sense.
He realized he can't get an ice-cream for 30 cents so he rejoined the group.
