Southwest Airlines: Outstanding Employees Surprised with $10,000!

On a date associated with gags and practical jokes, 21 Southwest Airlines Employees are counting quite a few extra pennies this April 1st -- a million of them!
Even Ed McMahon might tip his hat to our prize patrollers who have been reaching across the Southwest system to bring sky-high joy to 21 Southwest Employees as the Grand Finale to our year-long incentive contest, Operation: Kick Tail (OKT).
As you'll see, each winner got the news in a very surprising way before that $10,000 deposit hit their bank accounts.
The winners were drawn randomly from a pile of more than 180,000 "Kick Tail-A-Grams," commendations awarded by their fellow Employees for Positively Outrageous Customer Service and, simply, Living the Southwest Way. In all, more than 200 Southwest Warriors received various prizes as a part of OKT after the 35,000 Employees of Southwest worked together to meet all our year-end performance goals for 2008.
Times are tough all around, but we're as proud of the fact that we're taking care of our Employees as we are proud of their accomplishments of enduring strength. (Oh, we also took care of Uncle Sam, too. None of our winners is having to spend their prize money on taxes!)
The most beautiful part of all of this is how happy all their fellow employees are for them. A truly beautiful culture.
I flew on Southwest this past August 2020, and was delighted when one of the employees on the plane actually came into the cabin and sang a really cute song for us! I have NEVER had such a delight on any other flight in my lifetime! Definitely I'm going to look at using Southwest for all my future travels!

Honestly, $10,000 isn't much these days. However, being appreciated as an employee is what is priceless.

For a young man/woman :Minimum wage is 1300Euro/month in Belgium. Most people aged 19-25 make 2k+ a month. Food for a month here is +-400€. Transport and similar expenses +100 month. Now add rent. For a small studio/apartment between 400 and 1200€ a month. Not mentioning bills and taxes + fines. Not counting studies to pay. 10k goes really fast in Western Europe.
10k might get you a 10 day holiday to Orlando or a new car

No other airline even comes close to Southwest Airlines! And nothing makes me love them more than flying on another airline does.
Awesome airline. Im currently in school getting my A&P License and As of now hopefully one day I will work for Southwest not because of that $10,000 but because how wonderful they treat the employees. God bless Southwest

There are so many employees of Southwest Airlines that deserve appreciation for their effort. I have to add Sonny Cuaer in the Harlingen Airport to that list. You will never see him without a smile for a customer or crew member!

This channel and especially this video really help to improve morale. When you look at some of the negative videos that show airlines in a bad light, it's a definite breath of fresh air to see an airline and it's employees happy to go to work every day. To my way of thinking, I'll bet that none of the Southwest employees look at their job as work, but rather a fun day with good friends.
Jay sorry brother but if you read my comment what happened to me last year you wouldn't be saying all of that this people had not mercy on me when I really needed that was horrible even I was in a wheelchair but all I asked GOD bless them.

Wow I should be there that day so I can tell my horrible experience with this south west airline to me is the worst company to flight for real this people treated me like piece (×@#**&% ) when I was setting in a wheelchair with a broken leg I was just out of the hospital with a broken leg an a surgery on it it was horrible the pain and suffering I was in miami trying to make it to fort Lauderdale airport all I got was got hurt again because they put a metal rod inside my leg broke twice I begged I pleaded to that man and to have mercy on me and get my money back I didn't have not job i lost everything I became desable after all that and now I see they giving money away and they didn't help me in a horrible situation and setting in a wheelchair , so I think I should be there that day so I could say my experience but I pray to God to bless that man that didn't have mercy on me . But my experience is going to be tell every where I go . Thanks a lot.
