HAWAIIAN SUNSET
Hailing from Aku Aku, a (since closed) Polynesian Restaurant at the Stardust Hotel in Vegas. The Hawaiian Sunset can also be found in the Smuggler's Cove cocktail book (amzn.to/3bW8apC) alongside many well known tiki cocktails - although vodka as the core ingredient is a rarity. Quite a tasty, tropical vodka cocktail.

COCKTAIL CULTURE
A creation of Jim Meehan that is featured in his book, Meehan's Bartender Manual. (amzn.to/3sGI2Fm) The Cocktail Culture was inspired by the yeasty, vanilla notes of a local potato vodka (from Woody Creek distillery) which was then paired with a creamy yoghurt. The lactic acid from the dairy is used to balance the sweetness.

CHI CHI
The Chi Chi is essentially a vodka Pina Colada. Vodka is fairly neutral so clean pineapple and coconut flavours are not shadowed. The ratios below were featured in The 12 Bottle Bar book (amzn.to/3ixfSYS) - it's fairly heavy on the cream of coconut (or as they refer to is as coconut milk syrup) compared to other recipes which call for half the cream of coconut and up to double the pineapple juice. If you aren't a sweet tooth, opt for the later.
Learn how to make your own DIY Cream of Coconut here (stevethebartender.com.au/diy-...) for better tastying Pina Coladas (and Chi Chi)!

CUCUMBER VODKA GIMLET
A great example of a vodka cocktail. The vodka provides the proof without overshadowing the key flavours - being the cucumber and basil. A clean, crisp and herbaceous take on a gimlet featured in The 12 Bottle Bar book (amzn.to/3ixfSYS).

BOOZY ARNOLD PALMER
The Arnold Palmer is a non-alcoholic beverage created by and named after the golf legend. A simple mix of iced tea and lemonade.
The Boozy Arnold Palmer was created by Lee Zaremba of Swift & Sons Tavern, Chicago. Spiked with vodka with vibrant & floral hibiscus syrup.

Cucumber vodka gimlet. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, history of the cocktail and reaction to the taste.
We call that last drink a John Daily here in the states (also my favorite)
The Caucasian (WR), my Dude!
Hi Steve, recently decided that mixology and drink making is a definite thing I want to get into, do you have any tips for young people trying to get into this😊 any books etc, I'm from the UK so some of our ingredients differ and I'm not the richest of fellers so tend to go for cheaper brands😂 your vids are like my studying material, must say Ive loved all I've watched so far, thanks😊😊
@@rustyshackleford7479 don't know about “upper or lower 48” (referred to as the states), but in Golferville Resort areas ArnoldPalmer’s been a classic sweet Tea w/Lemon drink for decades. I'm pretty certain anyone could go to any golf resort worldwide and order an Arnold Palmer with or without your added spikes. Well done Steve. Nice choice of homemade Hibiscus Tea.
Steve if you keep adding more videos I'll end up broke, you're the reason I built a home bar in my backyard 😂

@@cocktailtony9860 No, watch Empires and Cocktails. They are better.
Me too
@@EmpiresandCocktails I do I am a subscriber. I enjoy watching your videos
My hubs keeps saying, “you used to just drink wine!!”
Ahhhh.... The classic shake & smile ☺️never gets old. Love watching your videos! ❤️
Came for the cocktails, stayed for the smile
I can wholeheartedly recommend the cucumber-basil vodka gimlet. I made one last night and also muddled in a spring of mint. Fantastic! Sláinte 🍻
The Hawaiian sunset is probably my favourite cocktail from this channel. It's dangerously good.
Great, I just got 3liters of Finlandia😂
Perfect timing!
That moment when you are watching a lecture and your laptop shows that your phone is disconnected from the internet. You go and check and just as you reconnected a new video from Steve pops up and you realize the lecture can wait till you have tried each of the drinks out 👌🏼
Love the new graphic on the side, super handy for when I’m making these later on.
I live in Hawaii, so the Hawaiian Sunset sounds nice 👍🏼
If you want more cocktails with tea, it's really popular here in England - syrups and infusions particularly. I've seen some places in London use little fruit teabags pinched on the rim with a tiny clothes peg so it infuses with the cocktail as you drink it. Gin and camomile tea is a great go-to!
His shaking will never cease to impress me
My favorite drink for winter: Chocolate Russe. It’s hot chocolate milk with a good dash of Vodka. It’s so nice after a good winter snow walk
Sounds delightful. Also, your dog is so cute!!
The last one sounds very interesting. I love Earl Grey infused gin cocktail too!!
Saw these on your app a couple days ago and shook me up the Hawaiian Sunset. Loved it!
Looking forward to trying some of these. So many great choices... Thanks and Cheers
8am in the morning here, don't mind if I do 😆
Bro this is wicked!! Great episode!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 They all look amazing 😍
I really enjoy the lighting in your videos and the neatness of the drinks behind you against the white.
I love your videos!!
Greetings from Sweden. Your videos really help getting us through the pandemic. Cheers man.
Im already loving the Cucumber vodka gimlet, gonna try that this weekend for sure!
Great video and I loved the versatile selection of drinks! Something for everyone! I think the gimlet was the best and I'll be trying that when my basils start to grow again after the winter up north!
It’s all about the shake & smile great video 😀😀
Coconut water that you buy in the store is typically from young coconuts and also as citric or ascorbic acid added, so it tastes way different than coconut water from a mature coconut.
STEVE!!! Any cocktail with vodka, I'm in!! The first one looks sooo delish.
I Love your videos and shake & smile makes me smile too😇
Steve u r the best!!!!! I have been Bartending.for 1 year and I have used so many of your recipes. Your channel in the best and I love it
Ooooh it’s a difficult choice - I love pina coladas so the Chi Chi is definitely on my list - but the Hawaiian Sunset looks lovely too 🤩
My best friend loves Arnold Palmers and I can't wait to try making that version for her before it gets cold here in California!
I love your videos!! I hope your channel will grow it's by far the best cocktail recipes channel :3
Fantastic looking drinks 🍸
Yes! I've been waiting for a video like this one :)
Hey greetings from California!.... great cocktails Mate Thanks for shearing them !
Love the ingredient list above!
Tip for the honey yogourt cocktail (Cocktail Culture). Look at the container of yogourt. determine how many times 3/4 oz (22.5ml) is inthe container. Use that multiplier for the rest of the ingredients. ;) Have friends over to share. :D
In Fiji we drink the coconut water of green or yellow coconuts aka Bu. Very refreshing. Older ones are scrapped for coconut cream. Delicious.
Your such a tank mate. Actually love the videos so much. Like I got a cocktail set for Christmas and you made it so much more fun and helped me do more
Haha, thanks Robert.. enjoy the cocktail mixing!
Steve you make , cocktail making fun 👌💯
Hahaha Steve, I guess you didn't know this, but coconut water comes from young coconuts (ones that have green husk on the outside) and coconut flesh comes from mature coconuts (the ones with brown husk). That also means the flesh of young coconuts isn't tasty, and the water of mature coconuts also isn't tasty.
I now know... haha, although I don’t like coconut water either way 😂
Great combo of recipes. Your expression after tasting the coconut made my day. I do not know why, sometimes the coconut water tastes great once you crack the nut, and other times it taste kind of "soap-like"; At least in my oppinion and experience. Now I have some ideas what to drink during the weekend. Thanks Steve.
I want to try all of these. Also, Finlandia is vodka of choice too. Thanks Steve!
Ну наконец-то!
And OF COURSE……that shake! Daaaaaang!!!! 😲
Cucumber Gimlet for the WIN! Cucumber is so great for refreshing guests on a hot day! 👍
Trop sympa ta chaine Steve ! J'ai juste envie de tester tous les cocktails que tu proposes ! Bisous from France !
The Last two are My favorites :D
Awesome drinks and video 😀
I’m gonna make all 5 drink too. I am also bartender in Sweden 😄✨
Gotta grab some vodka, thanks for the positive vibes as always :)
Watch a Cocktail Tony
I like them all
With the last tea based cocktail I’d use a French earl grey tea with is a black tea with hibiscus, and a dash of simple syrup to sub for the hibiscus syrup
It would be so awesome if you made a video on bar essentials, and alcohol to get for beginner (home bar).
I would love a video on mixology/cocktail trivia or fun facts
I like your smile while you shake the shaker.. and my small suggestion is the details of ingredients list will be shown in your left side is very good to your video..
I love your videos! I am in the states. I’ve been wondering when I will be able to get your gin! Also the Cucumber Vodka Gimlet sounds incredible. I will have to make it. I’ll use new amsterdam since that’s the vodka I have
Hey man, haha just here to let you know how to crack a coconut. In my culture we say crack it between the eyes. Basically, look for the 3 dots on the coconut, between 2 of the dots(the eyes) there should be a line running through them. That’s where you use the knife. Love watching your videos man.
One of my favorite things to do with coctails is taking vodka based drinks and replacing the vodka with gin or tequila just to see what happens. Works more often than you would think.
Chi Chi and Cucamber vodka gimlet sounds delicious to me!
That's the simplest colada I have ever seen, I love it
Watch a Cocktail Tony
My fav is a vodka with ruby red grapefruit juice... no idea if it’s a thing but it’s so good lol
Hey Steve, in Trinidad (Caribbean) we usually open a coconut by throwing it aggressively from the top of the stairs or just smashing it against a clean wall. Cheers.
Me and my family from Puerto Rico use a "Machete" to open the coconuts. We're not bartender professionals so if you try it just watch where your hands are.
Please keep on adding the ingredients of the cocktails directly in the video description.
I need some cocktails ideas for Valentine’s Day,please 🍹🌹
Arnold Palmer would be my preference, then the cucumber basil. Then...probably the coconut last. But it looks tasty! Thank you!
Steve you the man. Stumbled across your vids recently. Top banana! Quick question: you always have fresh lemon/lime juice to hand. Do you buy this or just spend all day juicing fruit? Any tips to get this done quickly?
thx
Hey, nice video as always! Do you have any videos on non alcoholic drinks? I couldnt find any. Would really like to see that :)
Yup! The smile sucked us in!!! You’re great. You are our bedtime Content:)
I get Peach Hard Eddy's Vodka, use about 4 jiggers of the vodka to 4 jiggers of water and a few ice cubes.
Steve, Just one BIG wack in the middle will give you a cleaner cut if you can live with 2 equal halves. Also, coconut water from a fresh coconut shell should be the best drink one can think of (think about all the natural filters in producing this juice, from the roots of coconut tree to all the way to the shell). Grocery store coconut must be months old, so no wonder it didnt taste good when you tasted
Yeah I was trying to only knock off a bit from the top so I would have plenty of room for the drink... unfortunately any coconuts I can get wouldn’t be super fresh.. 😔
@@StevetheBartender_ So great to hear from our celebrity Bartender !! Wish you success n happiness ..........!!!
like it!
Yeah!!! Does it mean we will also get new Rum cocktails? Since you filmed episode 3 of Vodka.
The gradually increasing speed on the coconut cracking was hilarious
Can you do a The Duppy Share Caribbean Rum,
Review please? You can get them from Morrison's in the UK
thanks Steve! I served pina coladas in real coconuts this weekend.
Where to buy those little jar for simple syrup and other juice? So cute.
My go to favorite is a cranberry vodka with lime. Never had hibiscuses! What does that taste like?
Chi chi is a winner here!
Finlandia. The Best choise :] 👍🏻
Finally... Something w/o coffee
The commissary orgeat is great can’t find it anywhere for nearly a year
If you put the coconut on a board and tap it whit the back of your knive you shouldent ned that many hits and it should brake apart more cleanly 😉 love your videos ❤️❤️ and always great Cocktails
Arnald Palmers are a very delicious non-alcoholic summer drink, they're super refreshing because of the combination of Iced Tea and Lemonade. On a side note I've watched video's from the Educated Barfly and its funny how they've tried to incorprate your signiture shaker/stur smile.
Awesome video! Will these recipes be added to the app soon? Kind regards from Belgium!
Already added a few days ago 👌
@@StevetheBartender_ Awesome! Been using the app every week :D Thanks for that!
If I can't get any hibiscus syrup, is there something else I can substitute it with ?
Cucumber Vodka Gimlet! Cheers!
Hey Mate, where did you buy your Coupe Glasses from?
You’ve made me appreciate gin and so many other spirits, in a whole new way. Why do I feel like vodka doesn’t add much complexity or flavor to a cocktail?
It doesn't... but that can be the beauty of it.. neutral flavour... it provides the booze whilst you can highlight clean flavours... the Cucumber Basil Gimlet is a perfect example... clean, fresh, herbaceous flavours..
Is a quick way to add ABV without adding flavor
Have you ever tried vodka, neat?
@@StevetheBartender_ Thanks. Really love your channel. Will give it shot.
Vodka from my country
Do you have a recipe for that coconut milk/syrup posted? *i see it in the drop down🥳
Sometimes I wonder if vodka cocktails are better served with a different spirit.
The Chi Chi seems like it would play better as the OG with rum (or even Chatreuse in the Pina Verde) and the Cucumber Vodka Gimlet seems like it would be elevated with gin in place of the vodka.
However, vodka seems really at home in the Cocktail Culture. It also seems like vodka is at home in Boozy Arnold Palmer either.
Nice to see some cocktails where vodka is (likely) the ideal spirit.
Basil is honnestly such an excellent flavor, wether you pair with gin or vodka
Who doesn’t need more tiki tropical cocktails in their life? 🥂 🌴 🌊
I’m sure someone has already said this Steve but the brown coconuts used to make shredded coconut etc. does not have nice coconut water, the young coconuts have the nice water.
Yeah, a few have mentioned... we don’t get young coconuts unfortunstely
Salud🍻
Hi Steve, hooked on the channel, can you help with one thing, I want to order some glasses but don’t know what size to get, coupes for example, help! 😬
Hi! so good to hear you are enjoying the channel!
We normally use a coupe that is 163 mls (5.4 oz) and find this is usually a perfect fit for most drinks. There are larger coupes and martinis available which are quite beautiful but your drink may not fill to the brim with the normal recipe measurement
@@StevetheBartender_ really appreciate the reply, thank you. Will get some ordered, now all I have to do is work on my smile 😁 keep up the good work 👍
Hello Steve, can I use Coconut liqeur/ Malibu in place of Coconut Water or the Coconut Cream?
Hmmm, really. Coconut liqueur and Malibu are "overpowering" compared to how light coconut water is. And the Coconut cream vs those liqueurs are like comparing apples and oranges. Flavor-wise you'll have some similarities but definitely not direct substitutes.
Have you ever tried a liqueur called Malört? If so do you know of any drinkable cocktails made with it?
I’m yet to try Malort..!
@@StevetheBartender_ darn, a friend of my brother’s got him to try it as a joke but my brother liked it so I got two bottles sent from America unfortunately I ran into the import costs you did for your rum and it turned out to cost $300 for two bottles and now I’m wondering what can be done with it.
That smile... that damn smile
