Hanging your guitars by the neck will stretch your guitar and make's it longer..my Gibson les paul went from 24.75 scale to 25.5..it plays like a fender now
😝🎸👍
This is how baritone guitars were discovered.
Hahahah 🤘🏼
😂😂😂
🤣
Telecasters are the exception. I've seen many hanging in music shops over the years with a "do not touch" tag on them. Not because of their value but the risk of falling through the hanger.
You need a tilting hanger with grommets to hang a tele. Mine hangs just fine.
yeah my tele hangs just fine on my wall hangers
lmao true, i dropped a tele once but i got a good deal on it later after it was repaired
Dude, I think your wall fell off your guitar at the end there
😆😛🎸
My heart skipped a beat at the end.
Lol!!!
Hilarious!!!
Those Bill Murray humor genes showing up once again !!
A guitar of mine fell from the wall. It was a decent heavy duty coathanger too.
The end is so scary. My heart stopped.
Hysterical! I don’t why I was surprised by the ending 🤣🤣🤣
and that was just the beginning of the full video!
I have all of mine hanging. I live near Yellowstone Park in U.S.; extra cold in winter , to extra hot in summer. All of my guitars are on interior walls and away from the sun
Seeing that guitar fall at the end activated my fight or flight response.
The ending killed me.
imagine being there for it! 🤯🎸
@@landonbailey 😭
On a serious note…some foam hangers can stain lighter colored finishes and leave what it called hanger burn.
we are thinking in parallel
I’m still kind of scared about it 😂 I always feel like it’s going to fall at some point, even if the guitar hanger is screwed on to the stud of the wall. I leave my guitars in a hard case.
the ending lols
The ending literally made me stand up and take my tele down from the wall lol
Isaac Newton's brother Dwayne invented the guitar rack for this exact reason.
Dwayne Newton - pretty clever!
It's safe if your guitar hanger is mounted into wood and not just drywall.....Emily from getoffset filmed a review and her guitar wall hanger failed during the video and her guitar fell onto a rack of guitars below it....Paul Davids from Holland also did a review on this problem....I keep two guitars on the wall and the rest on floor stands or stored in cases.....I figure I never need more than two at hand at a time...I keep my environmentally friendly Martin HPL on the wall and my Epiphone Casino.....I wouldn't put my franken tele on the wall due to the thin headstock though...that goes on a floor stand. hope your guitar was ok....looks like you got a yellow bluesbreaker from G&L by the back of it...I like Hercules brand wall hangers because they use a triangular screw mounting bracket and the hardware is solid.
Of course it is safe, as long as they don't fall. Seriously though, just make sure it is securely anchored into a stud, not just drywall or a lath in older homes and it should be fine.
study hard :)
I have no problem with it as I make sure the wall hanger is anchored to the timber wall stud as plasterboard alone is not strong ebough
studs for all of these
@@landonbailey it's definitely the safest way to do it considering the money we invest in the guitars
Next video will be is how to assess damage and repair your telecaster
So they are 100% effective 85% of the time?
Only if you preface that statement with "recent studies show....."
Ha! Reminds me of Yogi Berra’s comment about golf: “90% of putting is half mental.”
@@carlbaumeister3439 Yeah, 90% of putts you leave short don't go in.
You defo need to buy quality hangers and make sure its turned bout 45 degrees(ish) to hang your teles,i was worried screws wud come outa the wall but aftr a harley b p90 gt weighing bout ten pounds im satisfied😁
Amazing your video keep thank you for sharing your video
Thanks for visiting
Waiting for PRS to send you the silversky se to demo
I hang mine on the wall. I bought a nice piece of figured 1x4x10 oak and mounted that to the studs, then mounted the hangers on the piece of oak. I know guys who hang on the faith of sheetrock anchors. Never do this on an exterior wall, moisture can get in your walls from snow or faulty gutter systems and you will wake up with your guitars on the ground. You're also going to be cleaning the pots and electronics more frequently if you have carpet in your music room because of dust.
Hey I have a question for you you seem pretty knowledgeable. Is it ok to lean them against the wall if not backwards. A buddy of mine told me that putting backwards will take the strain off of it then rather sitting front ways
@@jamesburkjr2803 sorry to just respond to this James. The guy who got me into playing back in the day placed his guitars backwards against the wall when they weren't in the case. His explanation was keeping light, dust, and dog hair from getting on the fretboard and into the electronics. I really don't know the answer to your question. I do know every guitar stand I've ever used was designed to place the guitar facing forward into the stand. If you have a stable neck with a modern dual trussrod I don't think it would matter either way. I have a 2006 epiphone silverburst that I kid you not has been hanging in the same position for atleast 10 years without being moved. I finally pulled it down not long ago for a thorough cleaning and the neck had not moved at all, the same .012 that was set originally. I think the environment the instrument resides in as well as the construction matters more than temporary pressure points. Honestly though, having guitars of any value stacked on the wall is terrifying. Glass case with bottom and neck cradles and a built in humidifier is the ultimate home. If you're handy you can build one that will hold six guitars for around $500.
The best way to store a guitar is across two points. This creates a nice shelf for you to put your amp and other gear on when you're not playing.
Didn't understand, please explain
@@SKFaisalMahmud-jv3ygput your amps on top of your guitars
I fined my guitars always need a bit of tuning when I hang them
If you hang a guitar with a nitrocellulose finished neck like a Les Paul, SG or vintage Strat etc, the rubber on the hangers can eat the finish
It’s safe if they are anchored properly into a stud or beam. It’s no different than hanging a TV on the wall
I keep my TVs in their case
I remember a Telecaster fell off the hanger when I tried to pick it up at a store. Luckily I caught it.
Those headstocks are just too narrow for some hangers.
HUMIDITY is the answer.
the answer to what?
Put some plants in your house
because you can get a rash on it…l don’t hang any guitars…not fir that…because if you love something you don’t grab or hang it by the neck…floor stands 100% lifetime ( not much left )
use what works best!
I have 5 currently on my wall and a sixth one soon to be installed. Yes it is safe... Just don't put one above your bed directly on top of your head.
And drafts and temperature ...if you have a old house like mine lol
I have over 70 guitars and they are always kept in there cases for protection
Actually an engineer did the math on a forum I'm on . Calculated the average weight of a guitar , the effect of gravity and square space of contact with the guitars and figured out it adds about 4% stress to the instrument ... not sure where o saw it but it was actually done legitimately
unfortunately he was a Train engineer! 🤣😝👍
😂🤣😂🤣 You got me, that one cracked me up! If I were you I would tell people no...because the same people who ask are the ones who won't find a stud to anchor the hanger to and use two tiny drywall screws straight into the drywall and then try and sue you when it falls! 😯🤦♂️🤷♂️😁
😆
Ha, that cracked me up.
Haha. I thought that was a donner at the end. Upon second view....
Bolt on neck will be crack at the side of neck pocket if hang your guitar for a long time..
how long is a long time?
I think that's more related to temp and humidity change
no but for real this is really one of my phobia so I ask the question again : Is it safe to hang your guitars on the wall ?
Landon, I know I’ve asked you this before, but you have a really swanky white Tele - what shade of white is it (Arctic, Olympic, etc)? Thx.
Olympic
The sound of a fallen guitar will leave scars
They say theres no such thing as a stupid question. This question proves them wrong.
no one says that
Yep humidity and forced air heating the higher on the wall the dryer it is. Combine that with temperature fluctuations and the traditional Nitro finishes and those guitar shops better have some really good climate control
is this related to wall hangers?
Yes, I think under the bed is better. Unless it is a raised floor and the floor gets too cold. My opinion anyway
@@DT-ml3xv Humidifier/dehumidifier + hygrometer = problem solved. Having just those 3 things has made a world of difference for my guitar room and would never store my guitars anywhere without them. I have many guitars hanging on the wall and can literally leave them alone for months at a time and NEVER have to tune them, and I live in the Midwest where we get pretty seasonal weather. Small investment if you own alot of guitars.
The ending makes me cringe, but I keep watching it for some reason.
It depends on where you live. If you live in a place with no air conditioning and high humidity ratio I would not hang the guitars on the wall.
well your example is not good guitar center has lots of dried fret swell guitars for that reason ,remember those guitars are going out the door and the ones that sit go bad so I say NO IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR ANY DURATION OF TIME .TEMPURATURE SHIFTS AND DRYNESS ARE KILLERS FOR NECK ISSUES MAINLY BUT NOT LIMITED TO FRET SWELL SHRINKING OR DRYING WOOD
So what's the best way to store a guitar in your opinion? I was also thinking about hanging my guitar on the wall but since I live in a place where earthquakes are not unusual I'm having second thoughts 😅
I hang mine by the trem arm and high E
Thought you might like this video
cheers, I've seen it
The secret of timing is comedy. Or something like that.
What if the guitar has a repaired headstock
then it's been repaired
@@landonbailey i have such guitar, it got glued back together, its a pretty good looking job but honestly i am pretty afraid to hang it, will the glue withstand it ?
All my guitars hang on string swings. Never had one fall.
Guitar strings are over 100lbs of tension so the
The hanger moves the finish on neck/head.....
😵
Only if your careful in how you install your hangers and with Telecaster’s in particular carefully put them in the hangers! You hopefully have decent climate control where you live! Otherwise cases are generally safer! And better at maintaining appropriate humidity.
OUCH!
Neck rash.
No, it's not the best to hang your guitar on drywall. 😆
Too late 🤪
I learned that the hard way myself. :)
Lmao
Maybe because the wall might be shit so it will fall off? Just a thought 🤔
😂 😂 😂
No I wont hang my guitars on the wall
Dusty Springfield, Dusty Guitars. Guitar Center is hilarious. They’ll try to sell you a filthy, hanging guitar, no box, no accessories, as new, for full retail price. 😂
1rst thing is first. Do you have kids playing in the house?
LOLOL
😳
No I would not hang my guitars on the wall you're eventually asking for huge trouble if you do
😳😳😂😂😂😂
electrics, not much worry,, acoustics a HARD NO
why?
