What is going on my mates, I hope you have all been well and are chilling as hard as possible during these un-chill times. I hope you and your loved ones are safe with peace of mind.
Today we'll be talking about an emo band called Charmer from a small town called Marquette, Michigan. They got their start circa 2015 on accident.. kinda.. well, you'll see.
I decided to call this video " Charmer: Emo's Next Cult Act " because I believe they'll develop a ravenous cult of devoted followers over a long course of time by consistently releasing outstanding music, diversifying and progressing their offers each time.
I want to extend a thanks to David, Nick, Zack, and Neil for allowing me to do this video and being so cool while working with me. Truly a great great band of even better dudes. They're gonna go as far as they want.

Charmer is my current favorite band in emo. Been listening to them since Best Worst Birthday and have loved everything since. I knew of Zack from skateboarding and it was really cool to see him join Charmer. Can't wait to see what else they come up with!

Big bump, seen both of those bands in a basement in Milwaukee, WI, it was INSANE
Charmers recent release “ivy” had my jaw drop to the floor after listening just half way through. The album was just so clean in comparison to most in the genre. Such refreshing call and response between the guitarists. Amazing bass lines that tell their own melodic story underneath the story. Insane drumming that hits heavy yet is incredibly fast and technical. Crisp vocals that don’t distract.
There was a huge rush of nostalgia I got from hearing this sound. I grew up snowboarding and listening to emo music and this really encapsulated that early 2000’s sound I had been searching for. Bands like Title Fight sufficed in this nostalgic want, but Charmer really hit the nail on the head. Reminded me a lot of Mock Orange. (Check out the songs Even Time, She Runs the Ride and Poster Child by Mock Orange)
hey this is really cool Nate, didn't even know half this stuff about Charmer. Do you think you'll work with bands in the future?
I've been watching Nate's videos for a while now and this is definitely my favorite one to date. I got into Charmer after I saw them play a house show in late 2018 with Kayak Jones and I was hooked right away because their live set is so good. Their first LP is one of my favorite records ever and I'm also really liking Ivy so far. It's awesome seeing them get bigger and gain more exposure.
The line about how charmers music doesn’t feel like layers but instead each one holding hands with the other is spot on. It clicked in my head instantly. Getting the info directly from the band instead of just ripping from blog sites 100% of the time makes for great journalism too! Love the content mate.

I’ve been listening to them since the first album came out and they’ve been my favorite for so long. They played their first album in full at excellency fest in bay city Michigan and it was insane
Their set at Excellency last year was awesome. Hearing the whole first album live was a really special moment for me. The other highlight of it for me was when David's brother came out to play the trumpet parts.
I was there too! It was a cathartic experience for sure!!! That album is so wonderful front to back and hearing it live that way was unreal
Spotify showed me their ep way back and I patiently waited for their self title album. Seriously one of my favorite bands so much so they were my favorite band of the decade according to Spotify.

Zack Schrum chandelier is my fave off the album, feels like a follow up to bummer summer
Not many people can pull of this format of video, but Nate continues to impress
this seriously means A LOT. I still feel like I'm really finding my style and developing my content, so I deeply appreciate you saying that. My goal is to never stop progressing my format and to just keep trying to improve or further what I'm doing with each vid I make.

Always weird to see Marquette pop up places. We're not a big city, but I spent some of the best years of my life there. 200+ inches of snow a year is the perfect foundation for emo haha

I found out about Charmer a few months ago when they popped up in my daily mix and I was hooked. I'm so happy about their recent album and I can't forget when Charmer posted that they send random pictures of houses to fans who ask about their next album.
Those days are gone by free throw is my favourite album. I'm glad it got a small look in in this vid. Please talk about them they are great and the world deserves to know

Also have u heard of safe to say. They go by locket now witch is more poppy and mainstream, but safe to say started out pretty emo with there spilt EP and their first album. Than they turned more alternative/indie with their second album and their EP called hiding games.
