What is going on my mates. I just wanted to say I hope everyone has been well and is living a life full of joy and fulfillment. I know that's extra tough these days with what's going on in the world, but that's what I strive for each day. Some days will be much easier than others, but all we can do is try.
Anyway, enough of all that positive stuff, let's talk about that sad emo music. So Prince Daddy & The Hyena are an emo/indie/punk/pop/pop punk/alternative rock band from Albany, New York.
In the grand scheme of things, Prince Daddy & The Hyena is still a relatively new band. But do not be fooled, P Daddy literally only has straight juicers under their belt. Whether we're talking about Adult Summers, I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving, or their absolute masterpiece, Cosmic Thrill Seekers.
I love all of Prince Daddy & The Hyena's music, but there's just something about Cosmic Thrill Seekers. It ropes you in and won't let you go. I honestly wouldn't recommend listening unless you're down to have this album in your life forever.
All jokes aside, Cosmic Thrill Seekers is genuinely an emo masterpiece, and I FIRMLY believe Prince Daddy & The Hyena is one of the best bands out right now. Just in general.
Alrighty my mates. Thank you if you read all of that, I'll see you in the video.
I try not to get too sappy about all this, but just thank you so much for the support dude. Like it's seriously so hard for me to accept as reality, but I know I can't live in the whole imposter syndrome mindset forever.
I just deeply-appreciate it with all of my heart and I hope I show that to you all with my actions; not just words. -Nate
Best song off Cosmic Thrill Seekers?

wacky misadventures of the passenger is an absolute anthem. but i lost my life is probably one of my favorite opening tracks i’ve ever heard on a record
Ursula always hits hard
Patrick Gallaugher TRUE
wacky misadventures was the song i walked into my first day of hs last year!!!!
Cosmic thrill seeking forever!
thrashville 1/3 from volume 420, now thats what i call music, was my most favorite song and thats how i got into prince daddy
Me too, that split album with mom jeans is the shit
Conor Obbberst that’s thrashville 2/3, also fire
@@julianc667 both of them are fire
Sameee
That's the first emo song I ever listened to two years ago, been hooked on it all ever since :)
Origami Angel next?? Maybe some equipment? Some Guitar fight from fooly cooly? Worst Party Ever? Macseal? Carly Cosgrove?
We love worst party ever
I got to meet Kory at a show when I was cross-faded. Dude talked with me for a solid 20 mins while The Obsessives played. Really cool dude for putting up with my ass.
perspective, a lovely hand to hold is so good
I found rhem off of their split record with mom jeans. Good shit
Pdaddy ❤️ the Albany DIY kids who made it
Heard these guys for the first time when they were opening for Remo Drive. The "it only takes 3 Prince Daddy songs for you to be a fan for life" line is spot on. That show was a little more than 2 years ago and they've been in my top 5 most played bands on Spotify both years since. Was the same show I was introduced to Field Medic, who I'm also now a huge fan of.
i saw this lineup!!! in brooklyn, like around 2017! what a fantastic show. i had heard them before but that set made me a certified fan.
could you do worst party ever? or midwest pen pals / merchant ships.
@@kessingrrd yes please
The prototype of the ultimate life form is so underrated
omg i listened to that on my way home from my non-emo music job haha
Can’t wait until it’s cold enough to wear the iconic green hoodie
Honestly same, I wore mine so much last year, it’s almost torn up and it has cig burns all over it
I was listening to Roswell Kid one night at work and Prince daddy randomly came on, it was "I forgot to take my meds today" and I was instantly hooked. Listened to it on repeat the rest of the night.
Was hoping you'd cover them eventually but figured you're in the group that can't stand the vocals. Turns out you are truly the ultimate mate! Would love coverage of new Knuckle Puck and Movements (I know you wrote about the single but now that the album's out worth a return imo). Lot of good emo coming out soon with Niiice and Gulfer.
there are people that dont like the vocals? like i get it but also thats kinda what got me into them damn
They are hype af and sound SO SO SO Much better with Headphones. I Thought You Didn't Like Leaving is easily my favorite album.
One time this girl i liked accidentally called prince daddy "princess hyena and her dad"
Thrashville 2/3 blew my mind away first time I heard it.
I honestly couldn't stand I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving for the first three or so times I heard it, but that fourth(?) time, I fell in love, and it's now by far my favourite album right now, and has been for about 4 months.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT THEM
So disappointed their tour w Oso Oso, Just Friends, and Macseal was cancelled due to COVID.
i cry every day over it
yup same
Oh man they literally cancelled the tour on THE DAY of my show :'( I was literally about to head into boston but my gf couldnt get the tickets to load... and then we saw the post
They got hot mulligan now!!!
@@dope8878 Can't wait! love both HM and Pdaddy
Have you talked about Free Throw yet? The three things you listed for what makes a band work describes them as well.
CTS is my favorite record of all time. It was crazy to feel that way so soon after it came out, but it's one of those rare albums that transcends "masterpiece" status. Seeing Prince Daddy in ATL was also the best show I've ever seen. Dope to see everyone's love for them :)
Born without bones everyone should check them out extremely underrated
BABY
Oh my god seeing them play baby in its entirety live was one of the best shows I've ever been to
Yeah they’re amazing
Prince daddy is the best the punk scene has to offer right now in my opinion
A thorough analysis of what makes this band great 👍
Perspective, a lovely hand to hold is so good. My band has played with them a lot. I saw their name on that list of bands
Glad someone else saw that and gave them some love
YEEEEAAAASSAS!!! im so happy you covered them, they've been my favourite band for about a year now and everytime one of their songs comes on, it just makes my day
my first listen to this record gave me goosebumps the entire time. it still does sometimes to this day. i love this band with all my heart and i’m so happy you made a pdaddy video
Words cannot describe how much I love this band
only sounds can describe
The “it takes 3 songs” rule for these guys is so true haha
I LOVE this record so much.
so glad you did a vid on the Daddy, best modern punk band imo
i found out about them through Broken World Media too via The World is.. and when i told Kory that i just remember him looking kinda disappointed hahah
haha yeah, idek what happened with broken world... i just know it was super bad
Mate, all I wanna say is that you make me fall in love with music I have missed (due to my age I guess), idk you just sound so convinient, love it when someone tells stories with passion!
Thank you for that!
This video needs more love
yes!!! i’ve been waiting for this video for AGES they’re one of my fav bands!!
my fav band!!
Another great video, thanks Nate!!
bruh i love the smashing punpkins ...
Nate, you really are the man. I loved pdaddy since I first heard them on the split with mom jeans. Just got my green hoodie this year and I couldn’t be happier. This band quickly became one of my absolute favorites.
Prince daddy is god tier.
This is my fav band rn and cts means so much to me, thx for the vid
why have i never noticed these lil walter mitty snippets???? CATERPILLARS???? hell YES n8.
I’m super glad to see these guys getting this type of retrospective! They’re from my hometown of Albany so I remember them starting to get spread around like a plague. The release of the video for “I forgot to take my meds” was the transformative moment from me so I went and saw them at the Ice House (Kory’s house), then Jack’s Place, then in a filthy St. Rose basement covering Black Parade until the cops shut the show down. They are by far the nicest guys I’ve gotten to talk to pre and post-show and the headliners for the greatest local live shows I’ve been too.
Really sucks to hear about Broken World screwing them over. I always wanted to get on that label because of Prince Daddy, but I guess it’s a good thing we never did haha
Hey man, watch out for those Spiderbees.
hahahahaha
With this new album out, I really wish I could hear you talk about it in this video. Because wow
first time I ever heard prince daddy: sophomore year italian class 6th period. I was high as hell and completely ready to zone out and not pay any attention. I stumbled across I lost my life. I remember clearly losing vision and having an almost out of body experience. I proceeded to listen to listen to the entire cosmic thrill seekers album start to finish and was changed forever. prince daddy for life❤️
I got a vinyl of best buds by mom Jean and out of it popped a sticker for this band. Have not gotten around to checking them out but this is a strong reccomend and some high praise
Beyond happy you brought up the cult point. My first introduction to P Daddy was in March 2019, I bought tickets to see Mom Jeans in Hartford CT, and alongside them on the bill was Mover Shaker and Prince Daddy and the Hyena. I was familiar with Mover Shaker, but had decided to not look into P Daddy at all so that my first experience with them could be live. Right before their set, Eric from MJ came out and shushed everyone, then said "I just wanna make sure we all know, Prince Daddy and The Hyena is a cult and it's impossible to just be a fan, only a cult member. Now go fuckin wild". Since that night, my life has been devoted to the CTS cult
randomly found I Thought You Didn't Even Like Leaving one day n listened to it all n now i love them so im glad u made a vid on em.
your videos have turned me on to so many great bands thanks nate
Finally a video on one of the best bands ever
Definitely one of my favorite band of all time found them from the mom jeans split and I feel in love since hearing trashville
God I love pdaddy, sweet video mate, keep it up
Def going to have to check them out, thanks for another great video Nate!
so stoked for you to check them out
I know I’m late and I don’t really leave comments either
But I’m so so glad you covered them I love them to the world and back
Everything about their music and attitude. They help me through a lot of hard times just screaming at the top of my lungs to one of their songs.
I don’t normally cry I started crying lol I love them so much I hope they keep getting a larger and larger following
You either don’t like them or you love the vocals of prince daddy the vocals make it. And you just said that as I was writing it. Anyways thanks for covering them I love them so much
I love this channel
my top 3 songs for quarantine are all PDaddy songs lmfaooo (I forgot to take my meds, thrashville 1/3 and 2/3 :D)
I'm in love with this album
you always introduce us to the best bands
it's my civic duty
Literally every time I find a band on Spotify you make a video about them within a week after 😂
Cosmic has been around long enough to join the ranks of snowing’s fyeb and hotelier’s home as one of the top punk/emo albums of all time. So good. Great video thanks mate
so factual
I read an article that describes them as "sparkle punk". My ex found them a few years ago but I only started listening last October. A year later and I still love them. Can't wait for another tour.
This is awesome! Thank you for the shoutout! 💛
of course! hope you have an awesome one, Chad. If that is your real name...
Nate The Mate 😂
you never disappoint mate
love this band 2 death !!!! so happy u got into them :’)
Thanks, Nate! I needed something to distract me during my online class haha.
Best band, best album.
So glad this video exists
Theyre super rad dudes. Booked a show for them pre-thrill seekers in my city. Got to smoke a few bowls after the show in my backyard and chat music with them all.. great memory :)
i agree with all ur sentiments for pdaddy that's basically how i feel about them lolol. i like "raspy weed vocals" a lot, i used to say crunchy but urs lines up way harder, great video :D
Couldn’t make it through this video. Kept pausing and going to listen to cosmic thrill seekers
the effort you're putting into these videos is great mate. keep up the good work, you're doin' good!
really appreciate that, b g!
Another beautiful video dude
love these dudes !
Wow, just checked these guys out because of this video. I think I may have found my new favourite band.
every time I hear Prince Daddy & The Hyena, my mind goes back to Sophomore year when I found them and Hotelier. The Hotelier knows how to make amazing songs with a purpose, Hyena just makes music for the hell of it and it sounds just as good for a totally different reason.
I recommend listening to the first glass beach album, it changed my life. would love to see a video on the album. :)
Dude I know this vid is about PDaddy but fr, Posture absolutely slap, fantastic band.
I just found your channel now, super great. Thank you for making these videos man for real 🙏
thank, your username rules haha
@@NateTheMateForever sound haha, came up with it when I was about 11 lmao
a camping in alaska video would be so amazing
hell yeah Nate
Okay, so if you did Prince Daddy and spoke about Broken World, you GOTTA do Rozwell Kid. Love all these guys and the content is awesome!
Oh nice.
Nates always playing walter mitty in the background
Great video as always! I don’t know if you have video plan, but I’d love to see you talk about Oso Oso!
I highly regret not going to watch them live back in 2018 at the Chicago show with remo drive
I absolutely love this band so much. I just remember seeing their album art and being like "this looks sick i gotta listen"
That shot at 9: 42 ! Man , I hope to be peeling people off my ceiling again soon .
My dad had the same exact reaction as yours the fist time I played prince daddy in front of him lmao
Man 2 years ago a cashier at Barnes and Noble told me about these guys when he saw me purchasing two My Chem albums, a Paramore album, and an old Fall Out Boy album. He said if I liked pop punk, I would really enjoy them. I think he recommended Dance Gavin Dance as well. I feel bad for not checking Prince Daddy out until last year.
Я русский, и я смотрю тебя.
Что сказать, мне нравится)
I didn't even realize it until this video, I'm in the Fuckin' A music video at Programme, so thats my favorite song now
Hell yeah Prince daddy
Posture & The Grizzly is fucking dope and they got a new record coming soon! If you like P Daddy you'll love the record Busch Hymns
mad fire, u right haha
*stares pointedly at awakebutstillinbed*
I always look forward to seeing what Walter Mitty song will make its way into every video
Wait they wrote i thought tou didnt even like leaving in highschool???
Dude thats one of my favorite albums ever

dude posture are so fucking good you gotta make a video about them
We early early for this one
I wouldnt call pdaddy emo but i fucking love them to bits
Yo Jurassic park three slaps!
you should do a video about me
Thought you’d never ask. Let’s do it.
I'd love if you did a video on camping in alaska!
