Tears of the kingdom sells 19,5mills, BG3 sells 7,5mill. Hold your horses bucko, Zelda will win this year.
Some games need to win a GOTY to prove their worth. Some games don't need that, GOTY needs them to prove it is still worthy of its name. I believe BG3 is good enough to fall into the latter category.

Very few singleplayer games have ever made me sink hundreds of hours just on a few repeat playthroughs, let alone in the same year they come out. Baldur's fuckin sweep, man. Undeniably one of my favorite games this last decade. It deserves it.

@@LakesideTreymy colleague had sunk more hours into BG3 in it's first month then they had their 40hr shift.
I believe they had managed to spend over 400hrs to progress to Act 2 in the main campaign (while, admittedly having a co-op play through with their spouse past act 1).
It's a game that has drawn inspirational levels of dedication

unrelated to the GOTY stuff entirely, but I have to say that I have really enjoyed the voiceover instead of the TTS consistently from the start of its introduction. I was apprehensive myself since text to speech funny and iconic, but it's actually been super unintrusive and very listenable. I often forget that it ever wasn't this way when I'm watching a video with it.

my best guess as to what the joke would be (although I think it is probably slip up) is that ESP is an acronym for extrasensory perception, which is basically things like clairvoyance.

Balder's Gate is prolly gonna win on the rather conservative basis that it was a good game that had good content. Not even the most innovative thing ever, nor is it fun beyond comprehension. It's just the only game not plagued by greed, bugs, and absolute retardation.
It was plenty innovative. They nailed the butterfly effect like no game I've ever seen before. Also the constant updates are spoiling the shit out of me. Adding the new and custom difficulty modes is making me give another 500 hours of my life away.

for me with the news, it was like if anyone was listening to what I watched, they would be like wtf is that robot voice. But the news fromt eh video was so indepth and wide in content compared to the "shitty" robot ai voice that it made it seem like a meme? or like something only a younger generation would understand? also it was so much funnier hereing news when something emotional happens because with the robot voice it doesn't give you any heads up as to what is comming, like a lack of tone before hearing bombing the shit out of syria from a robot voice made it sound more suprising? TOTK deserves top, honestly. Brought everything from BOTW that was great and made everything better. Such an incredible game, IDC how big the studio was that made it BOTW is as much a work of love as Baldurs Gate.
They added build and nothing else. Not much of an evolution tbh.

Oh that's not true at all, the new abilities in the game completely change how it's played, even if story wise yeah it's just botw but ganondorf is actually a character this time. caves to explore and the depths gives you so much exploration, puzzles and shrines feel improved and having actual dungeons/bosses felt great compared to the blights from botw.
that being said though, BG3 still deserves it. If either of these games get it, then it's fair. AW2 is just too niche I feel since I've heard nobody talk about it, spiderman would also be fair personally don't want it due its controversies but that doesn't impact gameplay which was good, mario is good but not goty good, and RE4 remake really shouldn't get it at all, even if it's good it's a remake. @@dudebruh8534

Alan Wake 2 is the game equivalent of Oscar Bait and an all around acknowledged, genuine masterpiece. While everybody agrees, that Diablo 4 was a short lived piece of Garbage. Not even taking about the endless mid of Starfield. And Hogwarts is already basically forgotten, had it not been for the controversy.
