Welcome to our IRL guide on the Engineer class. Engineers are considered quite strong in today’s meta, and there are several flexible builds that ensure Engineer players can always bend the physics engine to their will. We’ll be covering the 4 main subclasses of the Chemical Engineer, Civil engineer, Mechanical engineer, and Electrical engineer.

As an engineer, I thank the player who crafted the first caffeine molecule. Also the player who crafted the first monster drink.
The first caffeine molecule was not crafted, but is a naturally occurring pesticide found in plants. It was concentrated into coffee in around 800 AD, allegedly be accident by an Arabic temple (citation needed) when a goat farmer burst in, telling the attendants that their goats ate a weird berry and became intoxicated. The energy drink was Krathing Daeng (Red Bull), invented in 1976 by a businessman in Thailand to help Thai laborers stay energetic. It was popularized in the west by an Austrian businessman after he tried it on a business trip to cure Jetlag.
also the player who crafted adhd meds
caffeine, otherwise known as "engineer fuel".
Pretty sure caffeine was just constructed by some plant mains as a defense perk to avoid getting eaten
An engineer born out of the chemical engineers squabbles
Watching this as a software engineer made me feel good about my life choices 😂
Favorite role in Space Station 13, Goongineer or Chief Goongineer. You get the insulated (the real ones) gloves, you get to use a monkey as a wick in the engine, Hellburns and produce SO much power that the meters go haywire and display stupid meaningless numbers randomly generated. I fucking love Goon Station. TG and VG are great too, but old school.
WTF does any of this mean@@BlackMoonHowls
@@blahthebiste7924 dont worry about it. its a game. but SS14 is the new remake of it on a better engine, with better graphics and easier development. Both are open sourced games that can be forked by anybody to make custom content for any part of either game. I would recommend staying AWAY from SS13, I've heard its community can be pretty toxic, and I've also heard its hard to learn. Just start playing SS14 instead. Its gonna have the same level of content in a year or two anyways. SS13 might die after the DreamWalker project or whatever its called finishes anyways.
Me too
Engineers with good Charisma can often follow the "consultancy" questline providing the opportunity for strong rewards but dealing with people who don't know what is feasible, sometimes paying too much for something trivial or asking for something impossible at a cheap cost.
Oh yes, the "oh my Sweet Jesus in Heaven, you are going to murder yourself and all those who you love, and also spend a lot of money, if you continue to try this abomination of an idea" guys. Quite like them.
"Asking for something impossible at a cheap cost" is really the bane of anyone competent at their job, not just engineers.
As someone currently progressing through this skilltree, I can confirm this is 100% accurate. Only thing missing is the intense urge of any engineer to let you know that they are indeed an engineer (if you can't tell already due to the lack of social skills for every subclass other than Industrial engineers).
or if you couldn't smell them nearby...
Too accurate, especially on IEs
Industrial engineer here, not all of us are immune to this😂😂😂😂
as an electrical engineering student in their 4th year, the compact power source comment at 8:20 is VERY accurate
But what's YOUR idea for a compact power source?
@@MapleovBacon Refer to Space Station 13 for further info.
We probably have to team up with the chemical engineers for maximum energy density.
But I dont like this form of energy. It is more annoying to handel.
As a subclass of the Mechanical Engineer class, the Aerospace engineer, this is very accurate. Ever since I finished the skill tree quest line and entered the workforce, I learned that half the time we are working behind a desk with various software for simulation, design, and decomposing requirements into tangible systems. The other half is us dying on the inside because we wish we were technicians instead.
God, i'm only a mechanical engineering student, but your description of us is spot on even for students.
The biggest thing you touched on was the shear variety of productivity we have. Me and every other ME student i've talked to spends most of their time feeling like idiots, only to somehow pull off moments of absolute genius when the time is right.
It's like "I know what you mean"
I do product design engineering, but don't be alarmed by the name, it's literally mechanical with a bit of art. So I know exactly what you mean by pulling one out the **** moment
Ye, being an eng student should make me feel smart. Instead, I feel more idiotic every year.
Upon Heaven and earth, engineers alone are the buildy ones.
Egi/neer
@@SumRndmPenguin why, i laughed so hard
what about architects tho? are they not buildy bois?
@@IdiotN4 Architects are just artists that use 4 story buildings as their canvas.
@@andrewlechner6343 that's fair. They also don't actually get to make what they want cause the people paying never want what they do
As a mechanical engineer getting his degree. The urge to work for Lockheed Martain is massive. As it's the only way to secure my own funding for personal things I want to make.
You dont get paid shit at Lockheed btw. Back during the cold war, maybe. But as of rn, you only go into the MIC if you want a stable income and retirement.
As with all government jobs, they usually pay little, but are very reliable and have no hassle with em.
Also the cooler projects you probably wont be working on. They leave that up to the PHD's.
Dont do it for the money. Do it out of genuine love or even hatred. Either way dont be a liberal. Maybe a communist, but not a liberal.
The sheer number of my MechE classmates who went to work for Lockheed, Raytheon, or Northrop is staggering.
The bane of ever passionate scientist. Funding.
@@mylesobrien7477 especially with the absurd level of overhead that universities tend to take from our grants.
You are all correct. Especially when se of thr professors just urge you to take a job for them. Not all, some want you to be for NASA and contribute. But when a student is able to make a 60-75k a year with no degree as a intern to help make and work on thier projects it's hard to not want to take it
You guys forgor about the aeronautical engineering side-quest for mechanical engineers, although it's very time intensive and high Intelligence stat needed, the usefulness for helping all the political mains is OP, while also helping all physics/astrophysics mains get the sweet Moon DLC
(Side bonus: making all the mother earth faction get angry for nice meme bonuses on the internet)
Kerosene go brrr
Aerospace subtree go brrrrr
Because morals dont keep the lights on but lockheed martin does.
only problem is youre more likely to find the elusive spy mains which became an ever increasing threat the more your spec into those skill trees
Aerospace engineers in school: imma help us go to the moon
Aerospace engineers in real life: murder drones
As a third year engineering student, this is the most accurate video I've ever seen.
Took the Electronics Technician skill tree, which just turned out to be the actual Information Technician class.
+20% chance for the arrhythmia debuff every time you trust someone wont flip the switch on the equipment you've tagged
Still a controls technician because I didn't want to take the college education megaquest, but I'm slowly working my way up to a full controls engineer class without the student loan debuff. Might class switch to an electrical engineer at some point, we basically do the same thing and all my experience points will carry over.
Based. I'm in the same boat as you
Enjoy your time as a technician while you can. The money as an official engineer is really nice but some days you will miss the times when it was all so fun and simple.
I spec'd into the chemical engineer subclass about 10 years ago. My experience mostly boils down to designing everything to be as safe as possible and then business mains ganking it after deciding how much human sacrifice is okay per dollar saved.
This channel is a real Diamond in the rough, you chose to make videos you want to make over the things that will do the best. heavy respect from an aspiring engineer. very fun.
I don't think they're in the rough anymore tbh considering their news segment
@@nosidenoside2458 fair enough
As a civie student, you are 100% on point. I have also already given up on getting my builds done through normal means, so the first 10 years after I graduate will be me preparing. The time WILL come, and I shall cook the best shit you've ever seen.
Associates in Engineering Systems Technology student here, this video is incredibly accurate from things I see in class and hear from guest speakers. My program's focus is primarily electrical and we used to talk way too much about electrons, and once we had an argument about the direction of electron flow.
Building sentries for Raytheon and lockeed
As a mechanical engineer, I feel like the mechanical engineer description was hyper accurate.
that edit at 7:05 had no business going that hard, props to the editor!
1:05 as a pharmaceutical engineer , making stimulants and using them is always good
Most engineer questlines can shift alignment to evil. Be warned XD
if influenced by the defence questline
@@Redstoneghost133 or just in general, when you learn the laws of the universe, you will realize that morality is only a very thin lacquer on the wood shipper of physics.
Near C space combat remove the need of any romanticism or honor in war , only death and annihilation remain.
I am currently studying mehanical and manufacturing engineering, and spent half a year working in a factory as work executive
I felt like i did almost nothing, just assembled couple of presentations and moved some stuff around.
It was the most high pressure department in the place.
I also did so well that the place i worked at specifically requested my lecturer to direct more students towards them, as normally that site doesn't work with my college, the other one in the country does.
I am the final boss for an engineer: an architect

@@StuffandThings_ that's an idea 🤔

This is definitely how I feel as an ocean/mechanical engineer in naval architecture (my god complex is taking full effect)
I'm currently studying to be a Mechanical Engineer, this video is very accurate as to want I will be doing, based on what my teachers have said about the job
As someone who is currently heading into the Chemical Engineer subclass, it's good to hear how broken it is. I might even be able to change the meta in this class!
Looove the art especially at the end
wonderfully produced video! Amazing work from all of you guys on the team :)
you never disappoint with your amazing editing and scriptwriting
I love this series so far
As a player currently spec-ing into the mechanical engineer subclass it's wild. Some of my peers are crazy into side projects and others just go to and from class
As an aspiring Engineer Main, I found this very helpful. Thanks!
Really fun and interesting video! I look forward to more like this!
This serie is so epic. love you guy :3
This series hits, keep it up uncle swag
Thanks for this informative video as always sirswag
This series is fantastic
As an electrical engineer. I was thinking about compact power sources for my iron Man suit during the first three engineering branches
As a mechanical engineering student watching this on a break this is such a good video. Also your mechanical engineer bit is spot on.
Would love to see you do one for retail workers at some point!
This was such a w video and should be a series, especially cool because mechanical engineering is my future career, goose approved
This might be greatest egnineer themed video i ever seen.Congrats.
Love this series - I saw the title and couldn't click fast enough.
An "artist" class guide could be a big laugh, just because there's so much disparity in success rates among the roles (the graphic designer sub-class tends to find employment easily while the fine artist often requires a second role to make ends meet), as well as the heavy reliance on the creativity, charisma, and luck stats, which are at best secondary to most other classes. The luck stat is especially a big factor for the fine artist sub-class.
Next episode in this series should be on teachers, such a diverse class.
This cam at the perfect time since I'm about to start my apprenticeship for a Cert III in mechanical engineering :D wish me luck lads
I'm currently progressing down flappy bird subclass, and am liking it so far. But have been really enticed by the zappy, buildy, and oppenheimer subclasses.
11:30 I recognise Ps2 Ratchet and Clank music anywhere! That's from the one of the ship levels in the 2nd game.
bro dropped the hardest mechanical engineer edit and thought we wouldnt notice 😏
more of this!
fell in love with this video from just 27 secounds
This is amazing do more.
I love this series
This has been fun.
Please more of this 👷🏾♂
never been more proud
As an engineer in training, it's true that the developers floating the idea of an iron man suit in a future patch caused a lot of players to try out the role, myself included.
Videos like this make me miss real world patch notes lol , fun vids , keep them up boys
Can't wait for an IRL Medic/Healer class guide
As someone who is about to graduate as a mechanical engineer, this brightened my day
i'm starting a bachelor of engineering w/ honours in civil next year, looking forward to it.
I recognised that insert soundtrack when electrical engineering job was introduced lol.
It's definitely from Saiki Kusuo during the chuuni scenes.
Bingo!
Nice input of the Ratchet & Clank soundtrack at the end of the video
"Showing flashes of genius on second, while looking like the missing link the next." is the best roast i've heard in a while XDD
Software engineer: I've put more into my charisma stats than most of my guild mates, and it has paid off.
Though, that has lead to an unfortunate debuff: Smacking my face against a hard surface.
It also seems that we software engineers have a large number of our own subclasses. And can usually lead to tighter deadlines than our colleagues.
But we can also milk more for budgets while we're halfway through a project.
love the aesthetic
I both love and hate how accurate this is, I am an electrical engineer and i will admit to spending more then a little time thinking about how to make a compact power source that could power an ironman suit.
I love these videos
As a Combat Engineer, we appreciate the mention.
We need more of this! I propose a Scientist Guide next, because ... this very important, yes, and not at all influenced by which class I chose IRL
Electrical Engineer main, multiclassed with Accounting. With random roll bonus for mechanical engineering.
This is the Sir Swag I signed up for.
As someone in the biomedical engineer subclass, this is all very accurate. I can also confirm that electrical engineering is wizardry to me.
We need one about the science classes
As a senior chemical engineering student this made cracked me up hard. Understandable why I’m not allowed to go DPS
Engineers are like contractors but people actually respect them lol. As a carpet installer❤, I constantly have to deal with other contractors and trade labor (looking at you painters). There are so many in jokes and rivalries between us that a series around us would be hilarious. Great video swag. Can't wait for the next one ❤
Must have nurse main guide
As a product design engineer, you have to be all 4 of those classes in one... it is the megachad of engineering, but you end up either specialising in only one of those classes, or you essentially levitate to a higher power.
I think going over the chemistry class as well as it’s subclasses would be cool (I’m in the chemistry class)
6:04 is that the background music from one of the first levels of the original Ratchet and Clank?
Love it
Hey look buddy.
I’m an engineer.
@@Andrew-ry9beAnd that means I solve problems.
as a mechanical/aeronautical engineer, this is so incredibly accurate. mechanical engineers are considered to be the Jack-of-all-trades build (minus electrical because that shit might as well be magic), I currently work with mechanical engineers who work on petroleum systems, aeronautics, missile guidance systems, propulsion systems, and even the pilot integration software for specific fighter aircraft. I don't know why but every mechanical engineer loves learning how to do new shit. and you can bet your ass we'll be good at it.
Need a video about the balance team.
I intend on specing into bioengineering
0:47 anger, rage, betrayed, dissapointed, decieved, wrath
The engineering tutorial is brutal, be ready to have to grind several perks at once to even hope to make it through. Its actually harder than the main game somehow
more please
The song at the end... Isn't it used in a Ratchet and Clank game? Epic. Back when the series was rated T and good. (or maybe I'm just not a kid anymore.)
I'd like to see some of the more niche classes (anyone got ideas for crazy often ultra high pay niche jobs add in here):
- underwater welding
- saturation diving
- ...
As someone trying to become a mechanical engineer I was very inspired, and all I want to do is get to the point where I. Can. Cook.
fuck as a mechanical engineer my segment was too real 💀💀
If I had seen this 4 years ago I'd probably would be in school to be an engineer
as an electrical engineer, yes
Liked just for including the Ratchet and Clank 2 Wupash Nebula: Space Battle theme in the credits
Truly cut from the same cloth, we are
I wanna see a psychology based one. maybe some other ones for biologists, and chemists. also researchers in various fields could a video on their own since they don't really focus on applying their field, so they often require some different qualifications.
Audio Engineer here. My job revolves around supprting the performer class and preventing their low intelligence build from ruining the meta in musical lobbies. I am mainly involved in preventing the tinitus debuff and reducing the tick damage from sonic wave attacks. my build has some specs that are taken from the electrical engineer class mainly revolving around the sound energy tech tree. The most difficult part of this class is the immense amount of XP needed to level up and the amount of grinding involved can turn a lot of players away. I would say if you're looking for a build that specs heavily into the 'early bird' perk, this is not the class for you.
What a video. (Also FYI if surfshark ever pull their adverts I'm cancelling my membership )
