. My husband was black, and we would be out middle of the night and he would blast any kind of music lol..my kids would be embarrassed sometimes ..he was awesomme!! Our daughters went thru a Justin Bieber phase and had his Christmas album, became a tradition..girls grew out of it, not him!!! Sooo funny!! He was a strong hard working man, we lived in a neighborhood that at that time was pretty ghetto

Um, no really. Chris didn’t write this song… it was written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove, originally performed by David Allen Coe, then done by George Jones a couple years later. Chris reworked it, making it far more bluesy/soulful.

Just came across this... one of the best reactions to this song that I have seen. I'm not reading through all the comments to see if it has been said but this song is actually fairly old. It has been covered by many over the decades but Chris Stapleton did it best.
