    Great tip to cover the drain before starting. I wouldn’t have thought of that and would totally lose the parts down the drain.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 3 lety

      Yeah that would have been a bummer! Then you have to pull out the shop vac and sort thru the nastiness of the drain. Thanks for watching.

    Great tips brother. I am the one that wouldn’t think of covering the drain 😂. Little tips like that can save you a lot of headaches.

      Hello. I’m a little late but do you know what model/trim this grohe is? I have the exact same one I need to order the inner parts for. Mixer and the plastic adjuster piece.

    Seems like modern and fancy = complicated. I guess because I'm old, I like to keep it simple. We have started to look at how to install and potentially fix before we purchase lol

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh Sandy I totally agree! I like simple too! Grohe makes great products, but they are not really DIY friendly. Not saying it can’t be don’t. I like the idea of looking and install and repair before you buy. The maintenance side is the killer. There is a good sized price gap when fixing a moen shower valve verse a Grohe Shower valve. Thank you for watching!

    This video was a huge help for me with a 2003 valve that ran too hot. But I could not find the set screw. Aha!

    Hey Brian thanks for the great information, by it not being installed properly it made your job more difficult 👍

      Did it make it harder Britt! He asked me to check the other bathroom as well, but by time I was don’t fiddling with that one I quit! 😂 thank you Britt!

    I have a shower nozzle like the firs tone you showed. The entire part with the white band jiggles. To tighten that, do I open it up like you showed at the 1 minute mark and there should be a similar screw to tighten it up inside?

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 6 měsíci

      I feel like you should be able to screw that down to tigten it up.

      @@ThatFixItGuy I wish I had you in NC where my daughter and her husband just bought a home built in 1984. Good luck with your channel. I expect to see your subscribers grow. I live outside of metro Detroit. I found you through Stoney Ridge Farmer.

      Awesome Dale! I have always wanted to check Detroit out. Been to a couple other cities in Michigan, but never there. If SRF had it his way I would be moving to NC. It is beautiful country. You Daughter and Hubby can always hit me up with plumbing questions. Thank you for subscribing! We really appreciate it.

    Do you have to turn off the water in the apartment?

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 6 měsíci

      No you don't have to shut the water off unless your are going to open up the shower valve for a repair.

    Hey, thanks for the video. The handle is stuck on the stem after removing the screws, any idea how to remove it without yanking it?

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 2 lety

      You could try a little penetrating oil in the hole. Pb blaster just saved me with this.

    Have you changed the Thermo Cartridge on the Grohe? I have Grohe Seabuty model 19614 and need to change the thermo cartridge (It is similar to what you have here). I called them and the lady said just screw it out, but easier said then done. I found the set screw, but maybe there are two, just as you showed. Anyway, thanks for the video, every bit helps.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  Před 2 lety

      There is only one set screw I believe that you have to loosen then you can screw that cartridge out. Were you able to get it?

    • @halfdohm
      @halfdohm Před 2 lety +1

      @@ThatFixItGuy Correct, I thought there were two set screws, but there is only one. The handle is stuck on the stem. I've just applied some vinegar with warm water. I don't want to yank on it and damage the valve. thanks!
