I was introduced to Marcel and Jenny on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Im like you Ginger....I cant get enough of it. We need more of that charm everyday.
@@johnhalverson1133 you are absolutely correct !! I was born in 1949, and the world I grew up in is SO much different than today’s world. I don’t like it one bit. I have 16 year old and two year old granddaughters, and I fear for them growing up in such scary, unsafe and unpredictable situations. My 16 year old granddaughter calls me all the time when she’s out driving by herself or finds herself in a frightening situation, like she did one day at the gym, alone with an older guy. I hate it that she has to feel afraid, yet I’m extremely happy she recognizes potential hazardous situations and odd behaviors. I knew no such fears growing up. A kid could be a kid. Life was fun and easy. The word family really meant something. We could move about the earth fearless. It’s all gone now tho and kids today have no idea what they missed. Little things like Marcel brings back some light to the darkness, and we definitely need more of that. I hope you are well and safe, and happy. Blessings, GG.
@@gingersnapsNdunkie I was also born in 1949 and yes its a different world than the one we grew up in. My wife and I have 7 grandkids between us ranging from 8 to 23. Its a shame they have to grow up in such a dangerous time in human history, but perhaps years from now they will look back at this time as the "good ol days". We can only hope. Marcel kinda reminds me of Gumby and the Claymation gang.
My 10 year old daughter and I went to see the movie last night and loved it. It was so sweet and quiet but funny. I cried (twice) and I can’t wait to see it again. ❤️
She was fired for swearing on an adult comedy show? Thats f**king ridiculous. I hope Marcel the Shell done very well for her, and with a new movie on the way I hope its a huge success.
Guess the show doesn't observe the FCC's voluntary safe harbor rules. Sucks. I mean, if this were aired in the UK, there wouldn't be a tear shed over it as long as it's after 9pm.
Totally. It's nuts to think about, relatively to something like the Sopranos (love 'em) where there's an F every 18 seconds and it's on 3 hours earlier than SNL. Ahhh well. The world has to cater to people with children no matter what.
not that i know from experience but as someone who has listened to numerous interviews of actors, comedians including a large amount of former and current snl cast members, I know that doing that show is a super high pressure job and where one small mess up can get you kicked off. Its unfortunate that a mistake such as that would end such a promising future on the show. Although it's good to see that she wasn't discouraged enough to quit comedy because she's a very talanted and funny individual.
Not at all, they made her a favor! Because of that, she create Marcel, which has given her the opportunity to reach further! Every end, it's a new beggining and Jeni has begun this one amazingly.
I wondered what happened to her. Lorne Michaels is losing it if he cuts talent over a mistake only to hire all the talentless hacks currently on the show... who I guess don't accidentally let an F-bomb slip.
Snl is meh honestly madtv, whose line is it anyway, and chappelle show and key and peele have always been way funnier lol Snl just had history/celebrity guests behind it
What are you talking about? Every new episode is shot live. Go back to whatever 3rd world blogs you normally troll, Francis so atleast you will understand what people are talking about.
Well the primary reason is like FCC regulations about swearing on cable television. If they use too much foul language they can be fined by the FCC. One way around this is to air the show in a later time slot. It is very lame that she got in so much trouble just for that.
What a load of hypocritical bs to can this incredibly talented, wonderful person for a slip that, FFS, we'd had the technology to bleep out from even live shows for years! Also, it didn't get Paul Schaeffer or Nor MacDonald fired. Then again, maybe there's was more to it than just this slip.
Pun fully intended but SNL is a literal shell of what it used to be. I am a moderate/slightly left leaner but they are now boot licking liberals (with zero attempt to be clever or original) with barely any good cast or sketches save for like 15-20% of the shows. And I don’t get why they couldn’t bleep her sketch either. Aren’t all live broadcasts on a 7 second delay? When I was in college radio we had a “cough” button that deleted the prior 1 second from the buffer and then a “cuss” button that deleted the last 7 seconds. Someone was asleep at that button and she suffered the consequences. And also, remember it’s who you are, not what you say. Dave Chappelle can drop the N-word a dozen times on network TV and no one bats an eye. Jenny was brand new at SNL and they could afford to drop her, although I feel like any negative press is good press for SNL. I am not sure what their viewership is but it can’t be good, and it’s carried solely by who hosts it and maybe 2 or 3 of the regular cast. Jenny definitely doesn’t seem like someone who would vibe on SNL anyway and I’m glad she left that behind for a project as unique and poignant as Marcel the Shell and a ton of other voice acting gigs that make SNL look like a elementary school skit show.
Shecky Greene was a well known comedian in the '50's and '60's. He was...experimental. He also had some incredible bad luck. He made an appearance on Sullivan in the late 50's, and did a routine about communicating with trapped coal miners--not realizing that as he was doing the routine live on air, the other networks and the CBC in Canada were covering a coal mine collapse in Nova Scotia that killed 75.
Me too. That's one of the things I like about them. I am personally skipping checking out the extended part with the frank discussion of gender because why bring gender into it at all. Marcel is a Shell with Shoes.
I’m 73, and I looooove Marcel !! Can’t get enough ! Totally hysterical, but absolutely the sweetest little character ever !! ♥️

Marcel! 10 years ago wow.
Time to find your family! 🤩

Yeah but she had a successful career in some other shoes like Parks and Recreation
@@syddoku and she's Gidgit in Secret Life of Pet's
She’s also in big head, I think she’s Missy.
The irony of you censoring your own comment while being mad about censors
@@jacksawyer3208 youtube doesnt censor the word fucking lmao
I love, love, love this little character! Been watching it since the beginning.
I had no idea she was fired for that. She was AWESOME on SNL. Looks like she dodged a huge bullet (according to former cast members.)
I WOULD WATCH THAT SHOW EVERY DAY!!
Jenny is the bomb! Her Netflix special “ stage fright” isn’t just funny but it’s kinda wholesome and so genuine. I love her!
Her bit about football in that is so great. I’ve watched it so many times 🤣
I really liked her when she was on SNL. I think they made a mistake by letting her go.
Guess the show doesn't observe the FCC's voluntary safe harbor rules. Sucks. I mean, if this were aired in the UK, there wouldn't be a tear shed over it as long as it's after 9pm.
Yes it's too bad about that.... and the F-Bomb sketch was the last sketch aired that night (around 1:00AMest)
Totally. It's nuts to think about, relatively to something like the Sopranos (love 'em) where there's an F every 18 seconds and it's on 3 hours earlier than SNL. Ahhh well. The world has to cater to people with children no matter what.
dumb2331 She was on Network TV.
Sopranos was not.
had a man done this, it would not have been such a big deal. but because it was a woman who said "fucking", she got canned. total bullshit.
Jenny Slates funny personality makes her cute and adorable.
Got pitted so pitted
SNL is yesterdays news. BLESS YOu Jenny for coming up with this little treasure
And now Marcel will hit the big screen! Crazy!
Can't wait! I just saw this today.
Isabel,”age”/ect. Please?
Ms. R.?
Amy Rose?
Anyone?
I love Jenny Slate. It's so interesting to see how cool and collected she is versus how she is on Parks & Rec and The Krull Show!
I loved her character on Parks and Rec! She was hilarious!

"oh god..i can smell his face" gets me every time XD
I miss Brian !!😭
That voice is completely hilarious

Absolutely epic.
Love Brian Williams.
Wow, I didn't know she did the voice for Marcel, I've seen her on Parks and Rec and Hello Ladies.
10 year ago already.
So cute!
me too! i've watched it soooo many times - that few second slot, "where is he right now... oh god... i can smell his face..."
Marcel!!!!
Awesome!!!
Go marcel! And Jenny
Hey, this was released on my birthday!
I wondered what happened to her. Lorne Michaels is losing it if he cuts talent over a mistake only to hire all the talentless hacks currently on the show... who I guess don't accidentally let an F-bomb slip.
***** Uh, Lohan does not have a career, unless you count starring in crappy direct-to-video comedies directed by the ShamWow guy a career.
She's not the first SNL actor who dropped the F bomb and was fired.
I hope she gets super successful and can do whatever she wants. Then gets invited to host snl, only to give them the finger.
Go see Obvious Child! Brilliantly performance by Jenny Slate.
I like Slate, but Obvious Child was tedious.
I loved the look she gave Andy Samberg when he "threw her cell phone to the ground" on that skit, I Threw it on the Ground
That day we took fire in the theatre restroom, I employed the two shell method , Brian Williams was there !
At least she has something in common with Brian Williams.
SHES IN PARKS ND REC ISNT SHE???
sad they broke up
You damn funny Slate.
💯%❤
it's not the end of the world, i didn't mean she was wrong, snl shouldn't have fired her. the people in charge need to wake up and join this century.
Sometimes it slips out.
he means really funny
Gotta love Jenny Slate :)

Sadly, his parents split up and he is now panhandling in the parking deck at the New England Aquarium in Boston.
ok someone pls explain SNL's no "f-bomb" rule to me. that's mean af
The L in SNL is for Live.

I enjoy Marcel the Shell... and I really do hope it continues to do well... but I really don't see it lasting long. But maybe I'll be proven wrong.
They're making it into a movie now
I love this comment

that is really what I meant
What about Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen.
Oh I'm sure, it certainly is the end of the world if someone does that.

Really?! I TV show?! :D
SNL lost out BIG TIME
in the conan interview, she refers to marcel as a
DUDE
she never should've dropped that F-Bomb
"His parents..."
Christ... that's even worse than people who call their pets, their children...
damn I always thought it was a guy. whole life ruined
