Jenny Slate's Crazy "Marcel the Shell" Voice | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco - Zábava
"Shells are like the jewels of the sea, and the sea makes shells for animals that basically look like boogers."
I might be in love with this woman a little.
Same
Returning to this interview after watching the Marcel movie trailer and can’t wait for the new movie.
Wait, I don't get it.
The movie are already 10+ years old?
Is it like a re-release?
@@WeabooMoe no, the movie is new
I knew about Jenny Slate from SNL and when I found out she was the voice of Marcel, the clouds parted, a choir of angels desended and knew my life was complete.
MONEY PWEEEEASSE
+[IG] MetalBlooper yeah. can't get it out of my head either. it actually ruins the person's (actor's) character for me, which sucks. i bet Ms Slate is really nice but the Mona-Lisa role sticks deep
"don't be suspicious, ddon't be suspicious..."
Someone set your car on fire because you took too long, and I got bored.
For the record: Would hit, would hit, woooould hiiit, HARD PASS.
I just love her voice! Every animation that she's voiced is bloody hilarious! Gidget, Mayor Bellwether, and MARCEL!!!!
He wanted them to clap and she said no and the whole crowd stopped INSANTLY. That audience is pro
what? when? :S
1:37
i think that that was more of a coincidence
I have a feeling it's mostly automated laughter as well as applause that they add in post.
BlackManSlim562 There's a cue-card intern that has "Applause"/"Silence"/"Laugh". That intern is a pro.
Why do you guys all hate her? She seems lovely and she's funny.
I think they are saying "She is the WOOOORST" because she plays John Ralfio's (sic?) sister in Parks and Recreation and he always introduces her by saying "She is the WOOOOORST". I think that means they really like her? Idk, I think she's great
Yeah, it's a reference to her character on Parks & Recreation, where she was John Ralfio's sister Mona Lisa. That phrase is what he'd say about her all the time.
that is right
It's a reference guys
Obviously you fools dont watch muppet babies.
That shell sounds like Yoga Jones
oh wow i never even put that together
Trueeee
Baffour it does
Big time crush on this woman😍!
She's a linguistic genius. I love her on Big Mouth as Missy, she's my favourite character.
Don't be suspicious
I love jenny slate. i really wish she could've stayed on snl
She was too racist to stay in the cast.
@artHscience wait, what? “She was too racist to stay in the cast.” I never heard of that.......
artsHscience proof of your claim or its made up.
"ooh, yeah. that's a beautiful question." hahahah
She is incredible as Mona Lisa Sapperstein. Way too hilarious!
This interview was my introduction to Jenny Slate. Now she's my absolute favorite person. Just figured I'd share that.
Thank you 🤗
Celebrity worship is a scary thing. You’re absolute favorite person should be someone in your life.
@@fezzik7619 LMAO yes, my _actual_ absolute favorite person is indeed a person in my life and not a celebrity, I was just being hyperbolic for effect. Y'know, like people tend to do ALL THE TIME on the internet. Don't take things so literally
@@karimqk1895 Right. People do it ALL THE TIME on the internet and each time it’s as stupid as the last time.
@@fezzik7619 yes the people making the joke and not the person failing to understand the hyperbole is the stupid one.
She's the GREATEST.
she's absolutely amazing
This girl is awesome. God Bless her :)
Jean-Ralphio: That was ha-larious!
Mona-Lisa: Huuuuuuuh-hilarious!
😂
two people have told me this is what i sound like normally and it weighs on me like nothing else
She's brilliant. Marcel's and the voice reminds me of Lily Tomlin's Edith Ann.
she is the WOOOOooooOOOORRSSSTTTT
Mona Lisa truly was!
Huge skank
Anthony E oml..
lol I love john ralfio and mona lisa
What the heck is this string of comments even about?
Marcel voice sounds like a sad kid
Isn't she the actress who got kicked off SNL for accidentally dropping the f-bomb? I love her!
She wasn't kicked off, they just didn't renew her contract.
Yeah! I had always wondered that! But I wasn't sure if it was her or not because it was several years ago when I saw that episode and I didn't remember her name. (They also had another actress at the time (who I believe still works there. Nasim Pedrad, I think is who it was), who I think looks very similar to her, so I sometimes get the 2 of them confused. Is this the person who dropped the f-bomb?
***** She was fired at the end of the season and made a handful of appearances after the f-bomb situation. The only SNL cast members who was fired as a direct result of using the f-bomb was Charles Rocket. While it seemed like he was fired immediately after making the mistake, it happened late in the season (three episodes to the finale) and was also apart of a huge SNL overhaul (season 6 received low-ratings, poor reception to the new cast, and negative criticism) after season 6 concluded. Since Slate's mishap happened near the beginning of the season and gained social network attention (unlike former cast member Norm MacDonald and Jon Lovitz), the decision to let her go was imminent - which was kind of a let-down because she was one of the more prominent new players from that season and even had a very likeable regular character: Tina-Tina Chaneuse.
Fun fact: None of the featured-player female actresses from Slate's season are currently on SNL. Abby Elliot was let go in 2012, and Nasim Pedrad just announced, last week, that she would not be returning for SNL 2014-15. Bobby Moynihan, the only male featured-player from Slate's season, is still in limbo for the upcoming season.
uthunderilightning Thank you for your thorough response! I really appreciate it. :) That's what I thought. I thought this was her. And yeah! I hadn't thought about Abby Elliot in awhile, but I was wondering what happened to her because she'd been one of my favorites while she was on the show. I wonder why she was let go. :/ And at least Nasim Pedrad isn't returning because of doing a TV show in Los Angeles. It doesn't seem like there's any ill will or bad blood there. Just time commitment stuff, she's choosing to do the TV show in LA. Not a bad thing. :)
Amberlicious1000 Caught me at a good time! A news outlet dissected Abby Elliott's decline, I'll try to recall what I remember:
She was basically overpowered by Kristen Wiig's ultimate surge in popular and hasty decision to leave SNL at her peak (smart move, though). Since Elliott was quite similar to Wiig, the roles were split between the two women and ultimately left Elliot with fewer gigs on the show. Apparently she was the most underused of her season (following the Slate season). Nasim Pedrad was also overshadowed by Wiig but also had the ability to play ethnic character without backlash or controversy. So, whatever Wiig couldn't do, Pedrad could do (with exceptions, of course). But Elliott and Wiig had similar looks, Elliott made due with impressions. In placing her in a small niche, Elliott was essentially overrun by the new featured-players and eventually she was cut from the show. Although, I think it's still unclear if it was SNL's decision, her decision, or a mutual break.
That's all I remember from the read, though. She's done well for herself thus far, appearing in HIMYM and Inside Amy Schumer. She's also set to star in the new reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (although, I think it's a minor character).
Jenny is so great. From SNL to "Ordinary Child" to voice overs. She rules. So talented!
She's fantastic!
Marcel the Shell voice as a REAL PERSON. Crazy.
I loooove her!
03:10 she kinda sounds like miss swan from mad tv
That was hilariousssssssuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh hilariousss

2017
Awesome!
I didn't even know that Marcel the Shell became a book. Awesome!
Funny. Congrats on the movie and that clever voice. Introduced to same on Sunday Morning. Liked the YT clips too. As noted '.... to same,' on Sunday Morning.
hahahaha awesomeness, I got a little chuckle within myself.
FYI you guys, I barely know her work, but I just laughed SO hard at her interview on Gabbing with Gals or whatever. That Pete Holmes show. Go find it.
RIGHT?! That's my thoughts exactly!! I saw this particular Conan interview with her way before Pete's show came out, but then now I immediately think of her Gabbin' With Gals interview/segment with Pete Holmes. It is so great!! And The Pete Holmes Show really is spectacular! :D So glad you like it, too! :D
You should listen to the episode of You Made It Weird (Pete Holmes' podcast) where she is the guest, it's hilarious
AspiringTentacle Oh man, I totally should. I usually can't really get into the whole podcast thing because I just somehow usually find them boring, or always think they're too long. And Pete's have a reputation for being pretty long. So even though I totally love the guy, I might not be able to sit through a 3 hour podcast of his. But I really should try! That's a great idea! Thank you for the suggestion. :)
So good! Can't say I love podcasts in general, but his Jenny Slate episode and 2 Chelsea Peretti ones are amazing. Driving, cleaning, falling asleep... podcasts can work.
I absolutely adore her
Love Jenny
I love her she is adorable
Like how she just pulled out the microphone.
She's the Besssssssssssttttttttt
She cracks me up lol
Marcel the shell♥️
i love how the two top comments sync perfectly.
"that i can relate too" lol
she is so awesome
I love this woman's mind

She's hilarious on SNL and her web series "Cathrine" is so odd, but so awesome at the same time.
LOVE her!!!!
Where's the rest of the interview?
Ayo, I just saw the trailer for the movie. Cracked up a bit, I must say. Didn't know Marcel existed for over 10 years now.
He cut her off.... when she was doing the voice. I want to see more of the voice!!!
I love her on Kroll Show
I love her grandma accent!!
She Is the beeeeeeeeessssttttt
She deserved more applause! I have always thought she was hilarious
1:16 expecting applause lol
She's so cute! I love her voice in Zootopia and in Pets
3:29 Best part!!
She's the wooooerrrrrrssstttttt person in the world.
I love Jenny. She's gorgeous.
I'm absolutely more impressed with her in this interview than all her time on SNL. The writers on SNL did her wrong, it obviously had to do with the bad skit writing.
No. She dropped an F-bomb in a skit.
Uh, the writers do everybody wrong on that trash. Is there even writing at all anymore? I know this is 8 years old but snl has been garbage for over 10 years already
his hair is exactly like his logo in this vid.
hgb0005 ....
she funy on tha kroll show, props girll
i love her she is a nice funny and hot woman
Chris was definitely a lucky man. She is hilarious and beautiful.
Oh my gosh. She's the girlfriend in Threw It On The Ground!
Ohhh I remember this girl from somewhere but I forget what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When she said "That's a beautiful question" did anybody else think of the family guy scene where the salesman guy tells Peter "What a good looking question."?
ikr i thought that was from her "undershirt"
Why am i in love with this chick!?!?!?
meeeeen! this lady is a classic beauty
Respect.
Omg her grandma voice sounds like Sophie in the movie Anastasia is it her
She's perfect
4 years ago..wow
She should meet Noel Fielding!! She's so cute! I love her!
Jenny is beautiful and hilarious!
I want to see that movie! So cute! To me, she's Tammy from Bob's Burgers
I think she was that crazy lady from the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie , where they are stranded on a island
