  • Hello everyone,
    I've kicked off my breeding season early and already have a few young ones to start training. The breeders are onto their second rounds, and I've upgraded the kit box with new wheels for easier maneuverability in and out of the shed. Right now, my main focus is all about training.
    Thanks for tuning in, everyone

    Ok just a heads up.... I'm probably gonna build my next kit box like this one. 😂...... I know a winner when I see one.

    What is diameter of your kitbox

      I honestly did not measure. A friend took a bunch of free plywood and boxes and gave them to me. I just took whatever matches. But I'm guessing it 4ft wide and 3 ft deep. The height from the wire floor is probably 4ft . 🙂

    How come I can’t get my female pigeons to spin but all my males do like 10 to 30 feet

    • @SmokesLoft
      @SmokesLoft  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I used to have the opposite problem: my hens rolled well, but the cock birds only managed short rolls. I found that the rolling trait tends to pass down to the males in a bird family, while hens stay consistent, with the occasional lucky roll. It takes patience, but eventually, you might get a rolling hen. Some rollers will start rolling after two years. Check your bird family's history to find hens from lines known for rolling or finding a hen that already rolls. What I have done to solve my issue, joined the NBRC club and got birds from auction and directly from known roller pigeon master flyers. Hopefully that helps 🙂

      @@SmokesLoft it’s crazy cause the hens don’t roll and they produce good cock birds but yes I will have to find some different females and hopefully my cock birds will stay the same
      Thanks for the reply I’m sure I will figure it out with a little time 👍
      I’ve been learning a lot from you and other CZcamsrs I’ll keep looking forward to your updates

      No problem. I would still keep those hens because even though they don't show rolling, they hold the gene that will pass down to their young. 🙂

      @@SmokesLoft I’ve thought about getting rid of them but thanks for your advice I will hold on to them and I’ll just have to bring a new hen or two to my loft and see what that can do
