I just realized Walter hated Jan and Alucard hated Young Walter because they reminded them of their own younger selves.

Walter is one of my favorite characters from Hellsing. It really messed with my head when he betrayed Hellsing.

It was so much more obvious in Hellsing than Ultimate, too. I honestly didn't see it coming in Ultimate, where I did see it with Hellsing.

I really really wish that Walter had a lot more screen time than he did. Granted the time he had was amazing but he is without a doubt an amazing character that deserved so much more.
Hellsing, the original anime, gave him a lot more screen time. The only way to successfully do it is to make him suspicious af from the get go, unfortunately. And that would just ruin the twist.

NO ME IMPORTA QUE WALTER TRAICIONARA A HELLSING. el mismo dijo que quería a integra y a seres victoria, solo se unió a milenium para poder superar a alucard por que no lo soportaba, y seamos sinceros ¿QUIEN SOPORTA A ALUCARD? a mi, en lo personal me encanta, pero en todo el anime solo integra y victoria son las únicas que lo aguantan (y integra se enfada con el muchas veces).
Someone pointed out a interesting question actually... Why did Walter betray everyone just to fight Alucard?
Was it just out right his stupid pride and hate towards Alucard that he was rubbing his power on his face or is there something more to just mortal ignorant pride?
+RobertAniFreak To be honest I think it's because he didn't want to be seen as useless. I mean he fought with Alucard in WWII and that was only a mere fraction of his power while being asleep. At the end of the day, Alucard was always strong from the get go and while Walter was getting stronger as time went by he was getting weaker(that can be debated but it's how I interpret it). The Major offered him a chance to take out the main Vampire, the King of Vampires and live up to the name as "Master Vampire Hunter". Up until Hellsing Ultimate, Walter was essentially fighting Ghouls with brains, that's what Docs Vampires were. Sure it may seem like pride, ain't denying that, but until he dealt the final blow his life was basically a farce and that's why, I believe, he was able ti ridicule Doc in such a way because they both knew that their lives were in the end a lie and their titles and achievements meaningless. Walter wanted to kill the King of Vampires, Doc wanted to create the Ultimate Vampire and in the end, they both achieved squat.

No no no NO! >=/ My gosh, why did I look at these comments..? You people =_=; Alucard was NOT "strong from the get go"!! Alucard's value as a human was TRASH compared to Walter's! How could you be so blind?? Walter was a mere child who could destroy his every opponent with GRACE. An exceptional professional, to say the least. Hence, "the Angel of Death", he earned that title before Alucard could even wield a sword! Alucard had to become a vampire to even compare! If Walter was a bloody demonic monster who lived for HUNDREDS OF YEARS like Alucard, he would be even more unstoppable!! How dare you be so ..ugh! So damned disrespectful!? Even still, with ALL the odds against him, Walter in his weakening pathetic state STILL managed to defeat Alucard. A TRUE MASTER VAMPIRE. A so called "immortal"... Hah! BETRAYAL? WTF! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? He took an oath to slay vampires, and rid the world of hellish nightmarish threats! And that is exactly what he did! Loyalty to a VAMPIRE? You MUST be jokiiing!!! You should have yourself arrested at once :'D ..Yes, of course he always loved Sir Alucard, Sir Integra, Sir Arthur, Sir Irons, and young lady Victoria. Of course he resents aging, as any sane person would. A temporary alliance with the great Major and his charming friends means nothing. Hellsing was a mess, and he served the true Hellsing name his ENTIRE LIFE to the bitter bloody END. Simultaneously an elite operative, the most misunderstood, unsung tragedy, and one hell of a butler. R.I.P. Walter C. Dornez! Bless his lonely soul...
No man Alucard was still holding back on walter.
No he is right Alucard couldn't beat Walter the way he was. If you noticed Alucard always takes hits in fights and never resorts to trickery to kill his opponent but overwhelm them with fear. But he did with Walter, trying his best to stave off the attack trying to find a weakness in one of the hardest enemies he has ever come across because Walters power essentially makes him impossible to defeat within range. Alucard is genuinely surprised during the fight scene time to time. He was close to death which was part of the Majors plan to put Alucard in a level playing field and have Walter end him if possible or use the cat to make Alucard suck up all the blood and so win win anyway. Walter didn't betray Hellsing he was just doing what he always knew and that was slay vampires. Which is why Alucard mocks him over his petty pride and that he would have let Walter kill him if he wasn't such a child or surrendered his humanity.
In an enemy that praises duty that is the sweet irony. Walter was doing his duty. The Hellsings took Alucard and since then have become lax in their methods of killing Vampires to the point that I don't believe Integra believes that anyone else can do the job. In the other Hellsing anime it's shown how Hellsing tries to train humans to kill vampires but it ends badly all the time, losing soldiers every episode. Walter kind of proved in a way that humans can fight monsters because he was just as powerful when he was at that age. It's ironic that his memory may actually live on as the best vampire hunter as Hellsing no longer exists after Integra dies as she said and it will all be state funded which means that they are going to start making more Walters rather than having one Alucard. Walter did his job, he didn't like it but he carried it out no matter because he was the Angel of Death first and Walter C Dornez second
