- Maker's Mark have been asked for years from baying customers - 'Where's the older stocks?' The distillery always replied with 'our liquid just doesn't work at older ages.' For years, we've all enjoyed Maker's for what it is, as well as the innovation that they've championed over the last decade. But here we have it, the oldest Maker's Mark ever released to the public!
A combination of 87% 12YO stock and 13% 11YO stock, this is a cask strength, powerful, elegantly put together set of casks that just won't quit.
I love this liquid, a proud owner of it. But one thing Maker's really advertised with this was 'no bitterness', personally I do taste bitterness, but it's welcomed and rather complementary to the super buttery, and sometimes very floral aroma that this Kentucky legend has.
It's a pleasure to have this in my collection, letting people try it, seeing how it develops over time, and the occasional cocktail with it. Congratulations, Maker's Mark - this thing is a stunner.

Another fantastic review, Phil! Thanks for this. Unlike other whisky review channels, your explanation, description , and tasting notes are so honest and genuine. Not the typical "honey, oak, vanilla , pear " "more honey , more vanilla, and more dried fruits".... I always look forward to your reviews and wait for Wednesdays :) . I refer your reviews and Roy's recycled reviews before making purchase decisions. Thanks again.
Thank you for these very kinds words, it is much appreciated.
Thanks for the review, hope to get my hands on a bottle too now
I hope so, too! They all need to be opened.
Tx mate.....FYI, I recently culled my YT subs channel list...maybe 500 + channels collected over many years...channels across all topics. Your channel and Ralfy are the only whiskey channels that survived the culling lol....PS, nice review. FWIW, I've tried but I just can't do bourbon as a dram / straight.....I don't have the palate for it for some reason.
That's a very kind thing to hear! Why the cull? Too many videos all at once?
That's cool if bourbon isn't your thing as a dram. So much other good whisky out there.
Fantastic review, Phil! The bitterness you mentioned has me very intrigued. I love bitter and I love Maker's so I'm really hoping that I can find this somewhere :)
Annie! Tried it again last night, and it's still there. There is nothing to be ashamed of, KY heat and virgin oak are gonna give big flavour.
Wow. that sounded so, so good. I wish we could share a dram of that one. I have not had any of their Cellar Aged releases, but I clearly need seek one out. Oily, rich, brown butter and sugar. Mmmm. Thanks for sharing!
It's worth the seek! But definitely don't over pay.
Yup, this goes on my buy-list! But first I got my hands on some Weller 12, looking forward to that. Cheers, Phil
A win either way!
I looked high and low for Cellar Aged. Out of stock everywhere. When it’s in stock its 5-$600. 😢
It'd certainly not worth that much money, not much whisky is. But I'd keep checking bars, etc. So at least you can try it if you want to. Possibly get in touch with friends in other states? Some more may be kicking around.
Is... is that a cat snoring in the background?
That is our dog...she has quite the snore. I thought I managed to EQ her out.
