I abandoned MM several years ago. I bought the MM BEP and liked it so much that I bought a backup bottle. I then found MM 46 Cask Strength at a Costco of all places, and picked up 2 bottles. It is so good! 🥃
When I saw it, the red label definitely had my attention and almost passed it up until I saw it was a cask strenght. So far, it's a damn good pour and worth the buy. CHEERS!
Can't wait to try. Need to clear some Makers off the shelf so I can bring this one in.
This is my favorite bottle right now.
Scored a bottle of the "new" MM 46 cask strength while in Cleveland last weekend. Haven't cracked it open yet, but I agree with Jason that the old bottle looked cooler with its sleek design. Maker's Mark is a solid and readily available pour, so I look forward to availing myself to some tonight when Jason goes live.
Just grabbed one of these in MI for $59. I found a ton of Ethanol and needing it to really sit before I could put my nose to it. And that's coming from someone who really appreciates barrel proof bourbon. After that I get most of the same notes that I really do love! The cherry, vanilla, Caramel really come through. I also did get quite a bit of barrel char on the first glass. Solid pour and I'm glad I grabbed it 👍
Finessed one at the px. They had it labeled wrong for 39.99.
I really liked the last bottle I had. I haven’t had the new label yet. I like the new design, the red label pops. And the batch number is interesting, I wonder if this will create a “batch hype” similar to ECBP.
Maker's 46 is one of my go-to's I'm not really for cask strength whiskey but I definitely want to give it a shot just to say I've tried it.

Regular cask strength at Binny's is a go to bargain. I picked up the 46 cs at MM this summer and it's a good step up. Glad to see it hit the shelves locally. Your taste notes are spot on for me.
I wish this was 'on the shelf' here. Had to go down to Maker's to finally get my own bottle. Let's hope this gets better distribution this year because it's one of my favorites!
I picked up a bottle yesterday and was very pleased with it. Thought it kind of sipped like OF 1920, similar dark fruit and chocolate notes. That might make a good blind. Awesome review!

I had a bottle from the 10th anniversary release and 1 from the year after (no idea if there was multiple batches each year ...) but the 2nd bottle was phenomenal (not that the 10th anniversary one was bad or anything) Guess I should try to find this batch now :P

Definitely getting the cherry. Good callout. I was trying to put my finger on it and this review pretty much nails it on the head. Overall, I’d consider it a bottle worth trying and see a place for it and look forward to sharing it.
i like the old bottle, but the new one matches with the other makers mark, its nice to see all the same bottle size and styles in a row
It's funny the new bottle is what it was like back in the 70s just saying. I liked the 46 French stave 90 proof my store doesn't get some of the hard to find bottles they do have the cask strength which I'm planning on getting. And for the money it's well worth the money. Great review. Enjoy.

With a lot of bourbons I’ve drank, the first sip gives me the most flavor then diminishes each sip. Maker’s 46 CS did the opposite for me. Must have a weird palate, but I enjoy this bottle.
Huge Makers fan. But never been a fan of the standard Makers 46. Just had an off putting spice I could never acclimate to. May have to try the CS new or old just to see how I feel about it

Mine was a little harsh the first time I had it. Came back to it a week later and enjoyed it much more the second time around.
I had a bottle of Knob Creek 9, tasted like shit when I first opened it, a month later I revisited it, and it was much better. Wonder why that is?
@@thegoods2240 My experience is some bourbon's change when they have had a little air in them. Also, I feel like our taste buds evolve over time the more variety of bourbon you try.

I have been a fan of the MM 46 Cask Strength for a while. Not much of a fan of the lower proof offerings. I think the old bottle looks better. Cheers.

I've seen other people review this and come away swearing up and down it's totally different juice. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's the same type who claim this every time a product has a bottle or label change (e.g. OF 1920, ET BiB, etc.) Even with consistent blends you'll have flavor drift between batches, so it's hard for me to jump on board with the unsupported claims and pet conspiracy theories that are always in the air.
I can get 46 in my area for about 35$. Charging another 30 for cask strength is kind of crazy.
Have you tried or would you try Uncle Nearest ?

I have batch 23-01 and it’s not nearly as good as the old bottle. Maybe your 02 batch is better. I do remember getting quite a bit cherry on previous batches.
Not sure where to ask this, but has anybody used Shared Pour to purchase the Cedar Ridge pick Jason did? I'm wondering if it's a legit site, and if the pick is good. I'm sure it is, but I would just like to hear from someone about it.

This was just in a blind in our tournament and it was not good. It tasted like furniture polish. To be fair, I liked it the time before.

Same here. I think this is the first time I liked the lower proof version more than the cask strength. Hopefully it gets better with time.

My bottle of 46 CS smelled amazing but tasted like fish tank water. Won't be buying again. Regular 46 is great.
