Tried it last week for the first time. Very pleasantly surprised. in South Africa it comes at 43% ABV which is good. 3/4 definitely. Picked it up for R1100, which is about $60 (US). Great value, better than some single malts
Had this in a bar earlier this year, and rate it well!! I had a couple of JW Greens, then this, and found them comparable, but this has something extra going on... more oak spice maybe, from memory. Good stuff!
Could tell right off the bat some of y’all were on the fence about this, I think because of the brand and what we know about it. Nonetheless still an awesome review and greatly appreciated
I've only had JW red (hated it). I've come close to getting the Regal 12, but have always balked, so never had a Chivas Regal. My go to for a blend is either Teachers or Monkey Shoulder.
IMO, red label is quite bad, but chivas 12/extra is far better, although a slightly higher cost, I prefer it to monkey shoulder aswell, but havnt tried teachers *can't get it where I live afaik.
"Red on the rocks" was the staple for one civilian contractor at an Air Force station in Alaska back in the early 70's. I learned to drink it from him, and as nasty as it is, I have fond memories of drinking that at Campion Air Force Station. I was 19, what the hell did I know?
I was tutored by some SERIOUS scotch drinkers from No. 8 Sdn, RAF, back in the 70's, and they told me that Chivas 12 was what they drank when they couldn't afford anything better... and then proved it by getting me seriously shitfaced with a fine selection of local bottles with names that sounded like I was hacking up a hairball. I haven't wasted my money on Chivas since. But JW 18 doesn't impress me, so I may just have to bury my prejudices and give Chivas 18 a shot.
I went for a Chivas sponsored fashion show and my goodness Chivas 18 was all they served. This is as perfumey on the pallet + after taste as it gets. I drank to my mind's content. Then I got the bottle and blip..not too impressed. A revisit is due. Also this review is a little too geeky. Lighten up four guys.
I have a question I am really busy with life Studying, working, and just living life And I always wanted to have loads of whiskey in my kitchen. Come home get a glass of whiskey take couple sips and have a blessed evening BUT im really lost with what whiskey I should buy theres so many I like sweet-ish drinks that has a good strong flavor and the price doesn't matter as long as doesnt exceeds 200$ could anybody help ?
It's to collect and hold the vapors in the glass so that you can "smell" the alcohol as well as taste it. It has nothing to do with maintain potency, it has to do with the ingredients you can smell that you can't always taste.
Got this on my 18th birthday in December 2020. Haven’t opened it as I don’t have any interest in drinking alcohol. Wanted to know some background information though, that’s why I’m here.
Chivas Regal 18 whiskey was bought in Lausanne, Switzerland. The whiskey is dense, not alcoholic. But don't expect any taste, bouquet or aftertaste. They just don't exist. But 10 years ago, dade Chivas Regal 12 had a pleasant, fresh creamy taste and aftertaste. I believe that the quality of Chivas products has become worse in the last 10 years. I even wrote to the manufacturer, but I didn't get a response.

Chivas, even the 12, kills JW red and black. Just imo of course.

Drinking this right now... 🥃😎
I just bought a bottle for $49.99 at Total Wine! I’m wondering whether they were on sale that day because it’s normally in the $60 range.
I'm going to need that top 10 videos lads
Have you guys tried the ballantines 17 yet?

Andrew's "I like more whisky in my whisky" says a lot.

Guys, you need to do a “Mano a Mano” between Chivas 18 and Buchanan’s 18!
OUUUuuuu, putting a blend up against a single! Some may think that's unfair, but you may have a point.... ~Mark
@@Scotch4Dummies ... well I was referring to the Chivas Regal 18 years and the Buchanan’s 18 years, both of which are blends.
Hey great video
I would like to know if this is more on the taste is more on the sweat side or the spicy side?
Question: why reviewers of whisky talk of the grain like is a bad thing?
Agreed. I like the taste of a lot of grain whiskies.

So you thing JW 18 is better than CR 18 ???
Can you please do a review of Chivas 25?
I agree!
Correct me if I'm wrong... seriously lol.
Wasn't this reviewed during the social distancing episode??
The bottle looks the same as that one.

Thanks guys
What is the reason for the covers on the glasses
They're coins for our glasses to help keep the aromas in play so they don't waft off.
Ok Cool, Thanks Im new to all of this@@Scotch4Dummies
Welcome to your journey.
Shawn's rating I believe was 3. I read 2.5 there...
Yeah, noticed that as well. Editing slip.
I liked review .
What’s with the poker chips over the glasses? Is that what they are? Poker chips? Why?!
