I just love the way he sweeps away the nurgling, like “No child, I don’t have time right now, drowning in paperwork, someone named ‘Vilebroth Null’ has made quite the beautiful plague and that needs cataloguing and some poor sod is sending an army after us.”
So glad we're getting a TW2-style FLC lord again. TW2 Thorek is still one of my all-time faves and Epidemius sounds great as well - though I'll admit I'll be happy no matter what so long as I never have to depend on Nurgling spam ever again.
The changes sound great, Thrones of Decay is looking like it'll be a banger - just makes me wish Kislev and Cathay had gotten the same quality of rework when they had their turn, as I think they really need it, Kislev in particular.
EDIT: Right there with you regarding Skrolk, by the way. I'm fine with Tretch and Queek being the more basic factions, but Pestilens really ought to have _something_ to differentiate them.
Nurgling+Hero spam is likely going to remain as a dominant playstyle, unless they hit hero recruitment caps with the faction overhaul. Nurgle heroes are some of the strongest in the game, and given how powerful Nurgle Warshrines are, Nugle Sorcerers could easily become the strongest hero in the game period. While yeah, it looks like there are going to be alternative army builds, and the eco buffs should allow diverse army comps, Nurgle is still going to be a herohammer army at its core, just like it was before the update.
@@Julian-cn1ey I'm hoping the new units in particular will end up shaking things up. That said, I don't even necessarily have a problem with the herohammer aspect - it's more the dependency on one specific type of herohammer build for such a huge span of the campaign that irks me.
@@Julian-cn1eyIm happy as long as even the not so meta (for whatever thats worth in a singleplayer campaign) army comps can be fun and viable.
After a few k hours im past the point of spamming the best armies and am kinda just dicking around with fun units or sticking to certain lore themes.
Dam, i want to play like 8 new campaign when thrones of decay release. This has the pontential to be the best dlc for WH3 so far.

As a Nurgle fan this is fantastic. Wonder what's wrong with Kugath though.
Well now that video is out i still don't really know.
Before rework? All cyclic buildings where you often either don't have income to support the army or the ability to recruit the units you want, weird start location in immortal empires, out of alignment with the tech tree (techs giving bonuses related to chaos wastes early and Kathay very late), plague mechanic that amounts to "just spam +phys resistance plague on all your armies and nothing else".
While plague mechanics were same for both Festus ended up being the better Nurgle lord by providing massive healing and using warband/gift of chaos mechanics - he could just raid into enemy territory, never losing units and constantly upgrading them.
@@Flamerule13th from how I understand the video, it was referring to something still being wrong with Kugath after the rework, but that being saved for another video.
@@stalhein62start is still bad, being next to Ghorst and in islands, and he now is the only Nurglish Lord with no unique mechanic. He also only provides buffs to the "worst on paper" unit. Epidemius just does Ku'Gath but better.

I played Kugath for 20 minutes, months ago, before giving up on Nurgle. These changes look really good, though. Definitely interested in giving the bilious rot boys another go.

I don't think he starts there though. It's turn 40, he probably migrated there from somewhere, but he will most likely be from somewhere closeby. I kinda hope he doesn't start in empire or kislev regions I don't want to have to kill him to get all the Empire or Kislev regions as respective factions.

I feel like all of the mountains around kislev are too populated already though, there's nowhere to place him. I'm still hoping for Karak Dum, but it seems Karak Azorn is off the table.
Looks like, its a proper settlement too, right? To all the people after a horde faction. Its not Fort Straghov by any chance, is it? I don't know IE Kislev that well, but there is a docking station for the Spirit of Grungi from Daemonslayer.
Warhammer 3 could do with a overall legacy update. There’s so many factions that would benefit from some small/major overhauls. Personally a faction overhaul feels equivalent to a dlc, for the amount of extra content it adds. But from the top of my head a few factions that could do with some help are obviously norsca, bretonia could use a little help, and for the game 2 factions it’s a toss up between high elves and lizardmen. None of these factions are unplayable but a major update could really swing them from being alright-to really dam fun, another sun faction that could use a little love is kolstatyns minor faction.
I honestly think Repanse needs an update heavily, she's most fun Bretonnian to play and she feels so neglected mechanic wise.

@@feasibilyheretical “Fine”, yes, but not up to standard. The influence system is in a bad place and has been for some time. Teclis and Tyrion need unique mechanics.
Used to be the case that High Elves had the excuse of being the vanilla faction of game 2, but now that the Empire and Dwarfs have been given a unique mechanical identity that argument holds less water. Comparisons to Kislev and Cathay are also unfavourable.
Granted, there are races that are in more pressing need of revision. There’s no need to get High Elves up to speed immediately. That said I do suspect they’ll be prioritised as, much like the Empire, they’re one of the most played races in the game.

I'm really glad to see the economy has normalized. That has been my biggest issue to date with Nurgle. I have a huge backlog of troops, but cannot afford to summon or maintain them.
Looking forward to this. The plagues carried the faction for me before but now the faction as a whole is looking way better. Definitely getting lots of infection generating building. Plagues, plagues plagues!!!

They could easily go for some of the low hanging fruit by making Boris Todbringer, The Red Duke, Alastar the White Lion, and Sarthorael the Everwatcher into playable FLC LL's. The models are already there and just need some skill trees. It would be comparatively less work if they were to make brand new LL's for FLC and could give us some content as a "sorry the dlc's are taking forever, here's a little treat to hold you over."

I think Skolk can use old Nurgle plague mechanic. to make them different.
I really like these technology trees reworks with categories, really hope all will end up similar.

I got an idea maybe when it's Slaanesh's turn for an update maybe Tz'arkan and Malus can get a small update that has Tz'arkan added as a legendary hero (in his daemonic form free of Malus) and the way to get him is to defeat Malus and wipe his faction out and then maybe that unlocks a Quest Battle that frees Tz'arkan from Malus and then unlocks him as a legendary hero, available for Slaaneshi and Undivided chaos factions (or maybe just Slaaneshi factions and Archaon)

@TheGreatBookofGrudges Can you increase your exalted hero (generally heroesm but asking for exalted heroes mainly, since I love to spam them) population from minor settlement defence buildings as well? Or are the defence buildings in major settlements on top of resource building capacity increase?
Concerning Immortal Empires exclusive characters, there are two remaining Cathayan Dragon Siblings left unintroduced: Yin-Yin, the Sea Dragon and Li Dao, the Fire Dragon. Here is where it gets interesting: before Yuan Bo was put in the game, his respective faction was already there: the Jade Custodians. Yin-Yin's and Li Dao's factions are also in the game already: the Eastern River Lords and the Fire Nomads. Of the two, Yin-Yin's faction is only available in Immortal Empires.
Perhaps in the future DLCs we will get two more dragon siblings, one of which is Immortal Empires exclusive.
I will miss the cyclical Econ buildings, however I fully get the changes and are for them.

Disappointed that Epidemius starts in the north chaos wastes rather than anywhere else lol. Especially since Tamurkhan is reasonably closeby to the east. Was kinda expecting him to begin in Lustria

I am super excited about my favorite chaos god getting new toys, new mechanics, new lords, and everything else, I'm having a really hard time deciding which campaign to play first.
The only worry I have is Ku'gath. While getting supercharged plagues, buffed-up nurglings, and himself being an absolute unit of an artillery piece with spells are all really nice but with the toys tammy & eppy are getting I don't know if -50% infections for plagues and double blessed symptoms are enough to keep up with them.

I haven't started in Lustria in quite a while, but isn't that region already filled to bursting? It definitely was in the TW2 days. Don't get me wrong though, I would have liked that as well.

A good change. I played Kugath 2 times to give it a try but never passed turn 40. This seems better now.
All these updates are amazing! But I'm still upset that there is no Epidemius in the Realms of Chaos, for example, I like to go through DLS and FLS campaigns in chamber maps like Vortex and RoC.
I hope he will be there at least as a non-player character, I would like to confederate him for Tamurkhan(.

I ve just finished a Daniel campaign with a bunch of mods (including Godslayer; a better version of Dani) and I have to say that these couple of starting turns are all about not having war with Malus. He is truly brutal.

hang on did i see valkia the bloody's start region up there is all artic biome now? thats a huge buff to the dark elves and very much welcome. that land was chaos waste and ass to take over ass a dark elf but you had to go up there to secure your lands.

Do we know if plagues have had their spread cap removed with this new system? That will kill any joy I feel for the plague system if it's still in effect.
Found my new main
Pre update, plagues have been my primary way of slowing enemy campaign movement range. If the enemy is in my territory, I can rely more on the -20% from the province commandment but outside of that I load up the cultist and plague the enemy army.
Post update, does Nurgle have a reliable way to slow armies on the campaign map? It's been a concern of mine with the new plague system being more random.
You won't be able to reliably spawn the same plague over and over anymore. But the faction is gonna play much more like other factions now, so not being able to slow down enemies might not be that impactful.
yeah maybe chasing and catching armies wont feel necessary for Nurgle anymore. curious
Love this lord, by jeez I cannot get a handle of Hag greaf at all, the steamroll me everytime and tried this campaign twice on normal and failed
Not so sure about the new plague system & how random it is.
The last one definitely wasn't easy to forget - you could literally give your entire faction an extra 20% physical resistance which is massive and a bigger effect than most of the plague symptoms shown in this video.
Im pretty sure Epidemius is looking forward to get his ass kicked every single time by Malus Darkblade 😂

These are probably the best reworks since the beginning of Warhammer. Seriously, I don't think even the Beastmen and Chaos Warriors had as many changes as these 3 factions. Exemplary work, it's a pity that it was so difficult to get what the players wanted from the premiere. The only thing I can say is a request that they continue to improve the remaining factions and not just fix one or two bugs from time to time. For example, this division of the technology tree into two sections should now be present in every faction. Plus they honestly should make additional campaign maps. Old world is one of the most popular mods, probably even more popular than the one with Gotrek and Felix, and even though the current map is large, it eventually becomes monotonous after a dozen or so playthroughs. Honestly, CA should introduce some local maps enlarged to the size of Immortal Empires. Realms of Chaos is a bad map mainly due to the annoying main mechanics with portals and the race for souls. An enlarged lustria, old world or cathay or other parts of the world would be a nice change and more reason to play. My poor fingers...

Tzeentch didn't really had that much problems compared to Nurgle before when this game recently came out but yeah it does feel like they kinda missing out right now

I hope it was a sarcasm about 'huge' research rate, 20-25-30% wouldn't shave any important tech research. Meanwhile skaven can easily get up to a thousands percents by turn 60-70-90, high elves even more

1. I thought Nurgle wqs a slog until I learned to play him. You don’t build up that much. You get most of your money by sacking.

I like the update, my only problem for me is multiplayer balance, its a double edged sword but, the main stream factions are empire dwarfs and elves,kislev,and there getting the utmost love in my opinion, when there is factions. That are severely unbalanced, and yet there adding more units and reworks to better an already better faction then most

5:00 this is a pretty bad strategy for your stated goal of keeping daniel alive to watch your flank.
I thought youd be aware, especially on higher difficulties, allying with daniel by giving him that settlement will make him WEAKER.
The game system stealth-nerfs allies of the player while doing the opposite for enemies - so your strategy here is effectively giving daniel an extra settlement that will also be steamrolled as your alliance has caused him to be weaker.
The "correct strat" here is to keep daniel a nuetral party, he wont attack but wont suffer player bias penalties and thus get killed faster. Keeping him nuetral means a bloodier more contested war to your eastern flank, which will result in smoother conquest by you at a later poin. your strat would have daniel losing those battles harder resulting in a stronger enemy to your east that has gained power, land and wealth from steamrolling your nerfed allied faction.
Pro tip for anyone:
You can easily destroy any strength rank 1 faction by allying with them and joining their far off wars - this will caused the game system, mentioned in the above comment, to then favor all of that factions enemies. In about 10 turns, that faction will be getting carved to pieces by its now buffed enemies and then you can move in yourself.
I dont understand why they moved Daniel only to put Epidemius there…the issue with that starting position is Malus Darkblade. He needs to be moved elsewhere. In best case near someone who can actually deal with him in early game like Archaon or Skarbrand…
