Performance reviews can be an intimidating topic! I appreciate when my managers ask for a self-evaluation as part of the process. It's a great way to reflect on your accomplishments and communicate them to your manager!

Self assessments are for lazy HR, self evaluation can cause damadged self esteem and bias, a person will naturally, to protect thier self, overevaluate themselves which ends up as useless data. A evaluation should be done by the management against KPI's, set by the company to measure performance, this is not a negotiation it is a discussion on performance comparative to the managers expectations, you know the people paying you? If businesses want self evaluation its best to send out a anonymous survey. Self evaluation should be left in the power culture of the 90's, a evaluation should not be a psych evaluation leave that at the interview phase.

Yeah that's not exciting Emily... You really need to examine your life choices. This B.S. is just a huge word salad. Employee reviews should take 15-30 minutes not take up 20% of your day.
