I get the impression that you quite like this camera! One plus point - it has four channels of audio. So it is a four track audio recorder which happens to shoot good video. One minus point - DJI have not marketed an extension rod like the one for the P2. That had some very useful controls built into the handle. Please guys, release one soon before I spend all my money on an X4. Or Go 3s. Or...
Yes... this Pocket 3 without the 2's Extension rod is missing on something far from being a gadget. For the last weeks, I have been filming many ceremonies in hommage to the fallen heroes of the "Libération" (June to September 1944). This rod gives opportunity to film at "normal" height while standing low, so you give plenty of view/space to the attendance and get superb sequences because you can remain immersed in the crowd. In 3 weeks from now it shall be a friend's wedding, and things will go the exact same way. This accessory should be part of a "combo", perhaps the "Event videographer" one... I don't know if this name sounds nice to DJI's ears, but I find it appropriate. Sure you can use a selfie-stick with the Pocket 3 atop, but it won't bring the same experience then results. Because a phone will be required to operate the movements and change the settings, when this rod allows most of the management to be done with one hand. While the second secures you to that fence, perfect for filming this huge crowd in acrobatic position while Armée de l'Air "Rafale" fighter jets fly above as a tribute... then you can follow them by just rotating a wrist with the other hand bringing extra satefy and efficiency. And all this above the crowd, with the Pocket 2 secured and all controls done remotely. Come on DJI, go all the way... you left us with missing parts in the puzzle, when it could have been (litteraly) perfect ! And thank you Samuel for the great job... merci beaucoup. ✋️🙂👌

I love my high end gear, but it's such a grind to traverse large mountain ranges carrying that stuff. You really sold the pro's of having such a quality piece of kit, that can be so portable.

The new firmware this year includes a disaster feature. I have sent the following message to DJI: Please DJI remove this disaster firmware from the Osmo Pocket 3. I did a firmware upgrade. And now I have the following disastrous feature on my beloved Osmo P3: "Added cancel recording function. Users can press and hold the Shutter/Record button to cancel during recording. The footage will not be stored after cancelling....A disaster feature. Last weekend I lost several important video recordings because I pressed the red record button too long. Who comes up with something like that? To me, this makes the Osmo P3 an unreliable camera (you're kind of playing roulette with your recordings). Proposal: a) remove this feature via a firmware update; b) make the feature optional c) make the "press and Hold function" only work after 4 seconds.

Thanks! Since January have been considering, but finally bought last week. Decided to also dump my Rode Wireless GO II and get the full DJI Mic 2 kit. I wanted simplicity with one Mic system for both use with DJI and my standard mirrorless setups. But DJI has so much more value in their mic kit and the upgrade to 32-bit was pure fomo. Having all the settings in the DJI OP3 or the DJI Mic receiver is a real pleasure not to have to use the app or software for the Rode. I use a lav most of the time, so the Internet peeps that say DJI has higher noise floor is, pardon the pun, just noise to me! One tech question - since 32-bit audio is only internal recording and direct link to DJI OP3 is Bluetooth (not exactly known for audio quality) are you always sync'ing the 32-bit in post and using the OP3 audio only as scratch audio, or are you using the OP3 audio a lot of the time anyway?
I always use the recorded audio in the pocket 3 vis the wireless mic. I have never had to get a copy from the TX itself. Nit sure if that is the answer you wrestle looking for but for sure I can say that I have never had any issues with interferences or the audio not be recorded…

Great long term review! I am glad it's not just the hype with this one. Still saving up to get one myself but use my Pocket 1 from time to time in sunny conditions if I am not using my Sony ZVE10. I just bought the monopod as well since I take vertical video of my suit color combinations for instagram with my cellphone at the moment. Would the Pocket 3 be a step up in video quality from the Samsung 24 Ultra?
Thank you for the feedback! I have an iPhone, so my knowledge of the samsung is limited. But what I can tell you is that the P3 is not just a great camera. It has an integrated reliable gimbal, a great wireless audio integration with the dji mic 2, it is also a wireless video transmitter to yournphone for better monitoringand control. It allows you to do moving timelapses. There are many things you can do with this tiny camera that yes, you cN also do with a phone, but involves adding a gimbal, a set of wireless radio mics, and so on. And that is what makes this camera so unique…

@@SamuelSotiega for me, I like the convenience, and the truth when it comes to the tracking. everyone says the tracking is what sells it, but whenever I had an Osmo Pocket 1 I never could rely on the composition of the tracking because it was only centre framed and it jerked too much I'd rather just set it and hope that it stays within the margin, which is not the best because you'd want to look like you have an invisible "camera crew" with you. so for that case, I'm going to get the osmo 2 and then wait for the osmo 4, because I don't need all that extra stuff that the osmo 3 is including and I'm kinda sad that Dji won't let the mic work on previous cameras with a firmware update you must purchase the Dji mic 2, to work with the osmo 4 and pocket 3, so its my little boycott. they're the best in the game, but they should let us use our tools, like the RC2 and RC1 aren't interchangeable with older mini 2, only mini3pro but then you can't use it with the mini 4 pro and with the mavic 3 so then do I need to buy 2 different controllers for each drone and 2 different mic for each camera. no their solution is simple, upgrade your gear for the most seamless integration, and that doesn't resonate with me. it should be like my 1995 bmw 318is, even after all these years its built like a tank, it last forever therefore its timeless and not disposable, thats what I like. same like the iPhone and iPad, the new iPhone 15 doesn't have the apple AI feature, you need to get the iPhone 15 pro. and the new iPad won't work unless you buy the new pencil pro. so it just makes me happy to see that, yes if you don't need the extras, the pocket 2 is good enough and you're the only one who talks about value above all, thats why I keep coming back, everyone else gets paid to sell insta 360 camera and Lumix camera and I can trust someone like you, I hope that you get success and all your dreams come true because you deserve it!!! love from canada! :D

There was a lot to cover in a short amount of time. If I tone it down and go slower it would be a 25 minute vídeo. Plus, that is me anyway when I talk to camera about something I like or feel good talking about. Wait until you see one of my upcoming videos where I have explosions and space ships and vfx!! 😂😂😂
Eventually they will figure out a way so that you do not have to faff around with loose external ND filters (without losing the form factor) and trying to mount them on the sensitive gimbal.

The focus on this camera is AWFUL! The continuous focus searching, which is difficult to pick up on the screen, ruins so much footage that it makes so much of it unusable. Until they have infinity focus, this camera will continue to fail. There needs to be a serious software upgrade. Until then, i would not recommend anyone to buy it.
That’s a bit harsh. Yes, the autofocus has its moments, but I have bern filming with it for 8 months and I have never had to ditch a single clip. I do get the odd clop here and there where the focus hunts or “pulses” but as a whole, it has never ruined a shot for me to the point I can’t use it. But I agree with you that there is a lot of room for improvement, without a doubt. I guess it all depends on what you do and how you do it…. @@SamuelSotiega I don't think so. The continuous focus mode CONSTANTLY searches/pulses for focus, it's so annoying and a lot of my footage has been lost. For example. I walk into and out of a shot, the continuous focus just pulses all the time as it doesn't know what to focus on. I don't want to always use tracking, I sometimes just want to walk into the shot and out again (I make hiking videos) without it pulsing. Then you might say, then just use single focus but then that means it's only focused on one point so when I walk towards/away from the camera, this give the shot an unnatural look. So while it's a brilliant camera with superb features, this focus issue is a BIG issue imo and needs fixing with an upgrade. The solution I think is to have an infinity focus mode (like the action 4 camera does) and then we can choose, infinity , single, continuous and tracking for various shots we want. There are a few videos around now of creators talking about this issue because if it keeps making some footage unusable, the experience becomes somewhat unenjoyable.
@@whatsnottohike have you tried reaching out to DJI support because I don’t experience the issues you are experiencing, and definitely not to the degree you seem to be suffering. I agree with you that it is far from perfect, but most of my shots come out fine…. If your camera is faulty DJI should be able to replace it. I wish I could help you. If you are London based we can meet up one day and compare side by side….
Nah, man, it's not that bad. Been using it for a couple of months and it's fine. I did set it to single focus on a couple of occasions and I'd be happy if it had some sort of manual focus, but the issue you mention makes no sense.

@@SamuelSotiega camera id fine. It's just terrible focus. I live in Barcelona, not UK. Same applies if you're ever here 🙂
Nah, man, it's not that bad. Been using it for a couple of months and it's fine. I did set it to single focus on a couple of occasions and I'd be happy if it had some sort of manual focus, but the issue you mention makes no sense.
