Thank you for sharing! I have to admit, before this interview Mr. Bondoux was unknown to me. While watching the interview I was trying to identify the chemistry between the GS brand and his personality but unfortunately couldn't recognise any special magic. One could expect from a (European) CEO to identify himself as a strong brand ambassador. Maybe (hopefully) part 2 of this interview will shed a better light on that matter. Looking forward to next part!

Regarding fewer shops - I live in Norway, and the retailer in my city that had a large selection has been ditched. The largest retailer, in our capitol of Oslo has been ditched. Now we're left with one in Trondheim, the fourth largest city. To put it mildly, it's pretty annoying to have to go on a plane trip there specifically to try watches I used to be able to try locally. Let's see how this strategy works out.

Yes I’m sure something gets lost or oddly translated in (both) our non-native speaking brains in this conversation, that’s part of the fun 😄🥂 The next video, talking about his personal watch, gives more insight about what he loves about it (and as a result Grand Seiko) so much. And he wears it on a bespoke strap - which makes him my kind of guy 😆👍
i appreciate the interview you are sharing with us. however, it makes me sad to see such a mercenary person - with seemingly so little interest or respect for japanese culture - be responsible for grand seiko in europe. for instance, when he talks about how he communicates with the head office in japan, i hear from him none of the humility and sense of duty which is otherwise so strong in the japanese employees of seiko and grand seiko. nor is he very concerned or skilled at conveying the quiet pride and poetry of japanese craftsmanship either. ganbatte kudasai, mr bondoux.
Thank you for taking the time to watch the interview, much appreciated! I would say that your initial impression is not the same I had during this interview. A very great sense of pride of all things Grand Seiko, professionalism and indeed a directness, frankness which is quite refreshing in this industry. There is a separate video coming later (January) where he shows his personal favorite Grand Seiko watch, and I think you will see he has nothing but respect for Grand Seiko and the craftsmen making these fantastic timepieces 👍
