    Reduce all creatures by -1-1, dodge selesnya charm, regrow ooze, kill the wurm, the voice token dies of loneliness.
    Best play in the history of ever.

      I don't know why everyone is saying that was a great play, or what constitutes a a great play. I mean ichikawa is an amazing player and much better than me, but the second i saw his draw was golgari charm i immediately thought of that, I mean it was his only option. A great play is having a 5 cards in your hand and playing the right ones at the right times.

    • @ecjboon
      @ecjboon Před 10 lety +5

      FvStrangeMusic The problem with that statement is that the Golgari Charm wasn't visible until he played it. Ichikawa flipped it open for a split-second when he drew it, so you would need focus very closely on the screen to see it. Even if you did, you could see it was a gold card, but at this video resolution there was no way to read the card title or distinguish it from for example an Abrupt Decay.

    • @aaronkistler3811
      @aaronkistler3811 Před 10 lety +1

      FvStrangeMusic It was great because it was perfect for that moment. It was a pretty lucky draw and Ichikawa was skilled enough to see the opportunity. I'm sure any of the players at the Pro Tour who tested with/against Golgari Charm and Selesnya Charm would have figured it out too, it's just the timing that made for a great play to watch.

    Wizards of the Coast. awesome stuff. I can't get enough. just one little suggestion... with all the on screen information that you provide (which is just amazing in itself), is there a way to show which player's turn it is? especially during these one on one, single matches? because both players are able to cast instants and what not, its not always apparant to the casual viewer just whose turn it is.

    • @JackTR21
      @JackTR21 Před 9 lety +2

      He's doing it at end step so instead of tapping then going to untap he just shows the card and they accept that mana is tapped then untapped on his turn.

    that golgari charm was excellent, blew me away, but if I get this right
    He grows the ooze to 5 to "trade" with the wurm then the Selesnya charm, but a golgari charm on the stack to make this selesnya charm null
    does he regrow the ooze before damage during the combat phase? I just need to get the ruling and stack effects clear in my head

    • @lukasdefrancis6813
      @lukasdefrancis6813 Před 10 lety +4

      Yup. Golgari Charm resolves, shrinks the Ooze and the Wurm so they'd still be trading. Selesnya Charm tries to resolve but its target is no longer legal, so it fizzles. Before damage both players get priority again, and Ichikawa takes the opportunity to pump the Ooze so it survives combat.

    can someone explain why golgari charm makes selesnya charm fizzle? if the worm token is still alive after golgari resolves, shouldn't selesnya resolve as well?

    • @guitarblade1891
      @guitarblade1891 Před 9 lety

      jackson used the selesnya charm in its 2nd mode to get rid of a creature with power 5 or greater the golgari charm shrunk both the worm and the ooze to 4/4 making the selesnya charm target null so it couldnt resolve.

    • @trevorhudson4806

    Holy shit.... the judges should've given cunningham so many penalties for slow play. It's ok to tank every once in a while, but he was playing waaay way way too slow.

    • @Th0usandMaster
      @Th0usandMaster Před 8 lety

      +evoluti0n09 Yeah they should have a clock like blitz chess or something... so we have a fair measurement and a specific allowance, so people wouldn't complain.

    • @lucas13110
      @lucas13110 Před 7 lety +5

      The Top 8 matches have no time limit (unlike day 1) so the players can play the matches without worrying about time limit. That usually helps the players to think on the game, rather on the clock, thus making less dumb moves.

    • @Th0usandMaster
      @Th0usandMaster Před 7 lety +2

      Luke Booce Oh, so there was no time limit? Cool then.

    • @evoluti0n09
      @evoluti0n09 Před 7 lety

      I don't think you understand.... "untimed" does not mean "you can take forever". It just means there's no time limit on the match. Rules regarding slow play and stalling definitely still apply.

    • @joshuacastleberry9846
      @joshuacastleberry9846 Před 7 lety +1

      Not trying to insult but the reason you take a second or two to "think" when you obviously dont have much is so your opponent doesn't know you're on air. If you continue to take a few seconds to think after a removal, it makes the opposing player think you have protection or combat tricks. If you just instantly say ok resolves when you dont have anything. Your opponent knows you don't have anything.
