I absolutely love Dimir Control. But no matter what deck was playing, this is the only way to watch. I can see what cards are in hand and cost, great view of board state and a blow up version of the card played to read. Love it

Hard cast Typhoon is always a loose immediately or a win in 3 turns for control
I played a Feather version of the deck, my own version. And while it's nice to have all these cantrips, you need at least 20 creatures, if not 24. Since you can go light on lands, more creatures to target with the cantrips goes a long way.

The commentary and level of play in this match is insane. Carl playing against jamin is great and all, but the matches where 2 pros are playing are just on another level. When people say the donÂŽt understand how magic is skillful i show them this match, or the one where toffel just reads through the back of andreas cards in the abzan control vs rakdos vehicles video.

@@CardmarketMagic i honestly didn't have a decklist in mind, just thinking of a rump up of mana using urza's land and Myr Galvanizer plus myr dork to cast Battlesphere early or putting Myr Turbine and Matrix and filling the board with tokens boosted by the matrix itself, steel overseer or something like that. Sorry, i thaught it existed something like this used yet.

We have! Don't worry. We shot many of these over the span of two days and tried cleaning them ourselves at the time, to no avail. The lens has since been sent to the shop, but we weren't going to ditch all our games with our guests just because of a few spots during the interviews.

32:25 is there a reason he went for the god's willing like that? the hall does not become blue when turned into a creature and god's willing cant name colorless, so is there a reason im not seeing then?
The text on Hall says it "becomes a 7/7 blue Giant creature with ward". So the Gods Willing would indeed prevent it from blocking the swiftspear. It was a tought spot for Simon to be in.

The lens has since been cleaned. All the games with the really noticeable spots are from the same few days we had guests over. Future footage should be fine. Trust me, it bothers us as much as you ;)

I think there is some dust on your camera lens.
the better way to deal with control decks for aggro decks is to have mana sinks (be it a land creature or an activated ability) or even (less so, tho) cards like homestead courage, i.e. cards that can allow the player to play them more than once [I'm aware that he was playing Homestead Courage!]. Some techs on the spectrum of floodgates help too - Thalia is the golden example of such cards.
Unfortunately this is a deck-building thing and Simon's deck stood no chance vs the OG control deck that Arne is using (OG control for me it's basically a deck fully filled with draw and removal, packing as the only threats land creatures and one set of cards that generates them). He needed a very strong curve and at the same time Arne to have very weak opening turns.
Tenth district legionnaire would have changed this games outcome drastically
maybe, maybe not.. you can never tell. might have easily been fatal pushed away for just one black mana costing dimir c just a short giggle

702.16a Protection is a static ability, written âProtection from [quality].â This quality is usually a color (as in âprotection from blackâ) but can be any characteristic value or information. If the quality happens to be a card name, it is treated as such only if the protection ability specifies that the quality is a name. If the quality is a card type, subtype, or supertype, the ability applies to sources that are permanents with that card type, subtype, or supertype and to any sources not on the battlefield that are of that card type, subtype, or supertype. This is an exception to rule 109.2.
702.16b A permanent or player with protection canât be targeted by spells with the stated quality and canât be targeted by abilities from a source with the stated quality.
702.16c A permanent or player with protection canât be enchanted by Auras that have the stated quality. Such Auras attached to the permanent or player with protection will be put into their ownersâ graveyards as a state-based action. (See rule 704, âState-Based Actions.â)

702.16m Multiple instances of protection from the same quality on the same permanent or player are redundant.
702.16n Some Auras both give the enchanted creature protection from a quality and say âthis effect doesnât removeâ either that specific Aura or all Auras. This means that the specified Auras arenât put into their ownersâ graveyards as a state-based action. If the creature has other instances of protection from the same quality, those instances affect Auras as normal.
702.16p One Aura (Benevolent Blessing) gives the enchanted creature protection from a quality and says the effect doesnât remove certain permanents that are âalready attached toâ that creature. This means that, when the protection effect starts to apply, any objects with the stated quality that are already attached to that creature (including the Aura giving that creature protection) will not be put into their ownersâ graveyards as a state-based action. TL;DR;
The permanent or player with protection cannot be:
Damaged by sources with the specified quality. (All such damage is prevented.)
Enchanted, equipped, or fortified by permanents with the specified quality.
Blocked by creatures with the specified quality.
Targeted by spells with the specified quality, or by abilities from sources of that quality.

Why didn't he counter the virtuoso with censor?
We assume he wanted to keep the censor to cycle later. When make disappear is no longer good, it just rots in your hand. Censor could still be useful a few turns later, but once Simon had too many lands, it could be traded away for another card.

If you're not playing with cards from the sets that contain the guilds, Dimir doesn't mean anything. I could build a UB deck that has absolutely nothing to do with with the "Dimir" guild, so if I told someone I was playing "Dimir" and then proceeded to beat them with an aggro deck, they'd question my mental state.
It's standard amongst magic players to name any deck of the appropriate color combination after that guild. The color combinations usually fit the guild's style anyway. Dimir here is drawing cards and killing things, whislt the boros deck is hitting in for damage. It fits
