    Denon receivers are great if one like having a soundtrack loud all of the time but when one has got the volume on low to medium that's where one can't hide the quality of its sound. A good quality AV doesn't just sound good on high volume it should sound good on low volume too! after auditioning a couple of Denon receivers the 3600h and the 6500h all one can hear is the components, transformers hummering away in the background! The Sony STRDN1080 uses a solid frame and beam chassis for vibration resistance and the lowest sound distortion possible. It also uses specially selected components, fitted with ES grade solder, for class-leading sound quality!
    Conclusion; Denon 6500 (£1400) was better for movies but Sony (£400) at a faction of its price was just as good at 2-channel (music).

    I would like to buy this receiver. There are even new ones on eBay. An enigma is bothering me! If a device (DVD) that has an hdmi output is connected to, for example, the Video 1 input via hdmi. Is it possible to connect an analog device to the analog input of the Video 1 receiver (video and audio), for example, a VCR? Does the receiver recognize both signals at the same input? I read the user manual where there is no explanation for such a connection. It is only stated. hdmi and input name change. My question is whether it is possible to simultaneously connect to the input with the same name Video 1 (hdm and analog) and whether the receiver automatically recognizes it? Unless! Is it possible to choose hdmi or analog through the menu setting? Does it allow this possibility when several devices are running and the other is not being used at the same time!? I hope you understand my question!

    I saw via the Sony website, to get DTS HD MASTER requires I use the HMDI eARC from my tv, is this correct? eARC is fairly new, so how have people been listening to DTS HD MASTER years ago?
    Also, would a PS5 with HDMI 2.1 work with this?
    Thanks.

    • @KevinPon.
      @KevinPon.  Před 3 lety

      Hello there, what's stated on the website is correct. ARC doesn’t allow you to bitstream the full-fat high-quality codecs such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio or DTS:X soundtracks that you find on Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays. It simply strips out the core 5.1 data stream. If you want this level of functionality, you’ll need HDMI eARC. I'm not sure how have other people been listening to it for many years besides at the theaters.

I have an older version of that amp the STR DN 1020 and there's a constant him from the powersupply even when it's in standby mode.
