- Let's have some fun, what are the 5 worst mechanics in RPGs? Escort quests? Inventory Management? What about Consumables. Here's the thing, though, it's not just my list, this is your list, too because I polled all of you to see what you thought were the worst parts of our favorite genre.
Making my character encumbered should be a crime!

As a gamer who loves to collect/gather EVERYTHING, encumbrance and its twin brother, limited inventory space, are my mortal enemies in rpgs.
"You are now common law married to that potion..... I don't make the rules, Larian does."
I lost it right there, because, YES. Of all of my BG3 runs it was just inevitable that I will have a hoard of Potions and Scrolls I had always been holding onto for that JUST IN CASE moment, only to never use them...... ever.
I was so bad about never using them until I tried tactician and honour mode and now I horde them and use them all!
@@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne I was a tad better in Honour Mode, but, not really. I used a few scrolls of Globe of Invulnerability so I was absolutely proud of myself in that moment, then I was mind blasted by the Ilithid at the Brain fight and it totally negated what I was going for in that moment.... ugh. Still made laugh, so there is that.
How I solved my encumbrance issue in Baldur's Gate 3 was to have Karlch hold a lot of the stuff I want to sell.
She carries the least and can carry the most if you set her up right.
Bg3 at least have the option to ship to camp, that’s an improvement compared to most RPG’s imo.. but why not just ignore the physics of it all and just let us be happy 😂
I feel like, given the ability to ship to camp, you could even state “this is stuff at camp that you can freely access “
to encourage you to use bargaining and for believability I guess
Fallout 4, where most of the junk WAS actually valuable as crafting components. So you are constantly encumbered to a crawl, but don't want to toss anything because you needs all of those screws and circuit boards.
Excellent video! :)
My character for my second play through picked up and carried every book she found until even Viconia’s mace wouldn’t let me carry more books
BG3 is, I believe, the only RPG that I have played. Regardless, yes the Encumbered is a pain. OK yes I can send to Camp, thank you Larian. But then it is all in a big chest at camp. Why is it not possible to send to camp and sort. So that all food items go to the kitchen. All swords go to the Swords cupboard, shields to shield cupboard, potions and ingredients to the alchemist, books to the library... you get the idea.
There could perhaps also be the occasional reminder message from camp... "Don't you think that xyz potion/weapon/scroll would be useful in the upcoming battle?" Just to keep you pointed in the right direction.
Number one for me is all the Junk you collect in your game! Witcher 3 and BG3 drove me nuts on this! all the ropes, plates ladders that you do not need!
hey, it's me!
and yes, I am INDEED the tastiest nacho, the cheesiest nacho with just enough slope to hold your guac. You're welcome
Haha I love it.
You're wrong about everything and.....oh wait, wrong account
at least you didn't talk smack on FFVIII's Junction system
