These are some of the best RPGs I could find still to come for the rest of 2024. I excluded any RPGs that had already launched or games that were set for 2025 or later like Expedition 33 and Exodus.
I also tried to pull a few different settings and playstyles to fully complement the RPGs on this list from CRPGs to First Person to Cinematic Sim.

Learning that Avowed is getting a third person mode definitely raises my excitement for it a good bit.
I believe they're still working on the animations for it but it does sound like they've been trying since their reveals to pro-actively work on things they got dinged on.
First person messes with my brain a lot, I can play them, but on PC I get kind of motion sick a lot from it and have to change the field of view. 3rd person is a huge preference for me as well!

I'm level 33 on greedfall 1 and I'm loving it. Such a hidden gem and when I heard the combat updates on Greedfall 2, OMG...

ALL us good ole gamers (56) here been dying for a DAO remaster and looks like Greedfall 2 is going to fill that need. Amazing. Didn't predict that.
It really seems that way! Just keep in mind it'll be early access when it launches so it'll be a little bit rougher. Just hopefully it won't take that long from there.

Kingdom Come II: Deliverance will be The game of the year.
They're aiming much lower with Dragon Age and as a result your expectations should match. Same with Avowed.

I probably have no interest in half of these games. But I said that about Baldurs Gate 3 and now that’s one of my favourite games of all time
Sometimes those are the best games. The ones you didnt think you'd like or didn't know about and then you get shocked with a gem.

The final patch is coming in Fall, too! Excited to see what the official mod tools bring.
I would prefer avowed to be like the other pillars games probably won’t play it or will be waiting till it’s been out a while
It is weird still being Henry in KC2 though. Like how is the skill progression going to work since Henry was pretty much badass at the end of the first game? I ADORE Henry but maybe he should have been like your best mate or something. I am sure they find a way to make the progression system good regardless, but it kind of reminds me of Deus Ex in like how does he go back to being a nobody again and have to learn everything again? Still, this is the game I am most stoked about on this list.
In DAI, u can get away with only doing the companion/campaign quests, and closing rifts/setting up camps. if u use mods u can do even less than that. I was worried about DA4 before the trailer drop and info dump, but i am really excited for it now. the gameplay reveal was the most encouraging. im also looking forward to greedfall 2, and am glad to hear they tweaked the combat. the city in the last game looks like the city in arcane. definitely interested.

Will say, i’m of those who wasn’t impressed by Veilguard gameplay reveal, it look way dumbed down. And i have been critical of BioWare for awhile now, still, i have not totally written it off yet, ut will await for reviews
Waiting for release is a good call. As soon as I can I'll get my hands on it and give an honest review but even then it's really going to come down to personal opinion on mechanics. DA has been a polarizing series ever since they changed from DA:O to DA2.
And worst case - Games tend to have sales within a few months of launch, so if you can wait you can probably pick it up cheaper.
Greedfall - I'm pretty excited for this one! I liked the last one, but I also like the gameplay moves. A bit sad that it's a prequel sequel though.
Avowed - I'm pumped for this! I saw the trailer last year and it just seems so up my alley. Obsidian also hasn't had a quality drop, and has been pretty consistent with continuing to produce high quality games. I do wish romance (not necessarily seggs) was possible because they do so many awesome characters in their games and I want to to live to protect some of them, like in Tyranny.
DA:TV - Trying to keep my expectations low. There are some things I like and that give me hope, but knowing how rough development has been, the changes around it, I just don't have confidence. I will buy it. I will play it. I hope it blows my expectations out of the water. Hell, I liked Andromeda - I'm not hard to please.
KCD2 - I'm more excited for my partner than for me. My partner loves it as a huge history nerd. The gameplay isn't really my thing, though I like to watch him play (similar to Witcher 3 for me). I have total confidence this will be an absolute banger.
New Arc Line - my first time hearing of it, but you've got my interest. I basically play every CRP, so I'd probably play it anyway, but it also reminds me a bit of Fable II from what we see (thematically) which doesn't upset me at all.

Greedfall - agreed on the prequel because it puts a cap on the story. You'll know where it's going.
Avowed - I'm less familiar with most of Obsidian's catalog than most (something I'm aiming to fix) but I'm still really excited about this and interesting seeing them take an existing IP/World and shift the perspective not just by calling it "Pillars of Eternity 3" but giving a new name and everything. I do agree on the romance aspect because it always worries me "where did they cut the story?" Especially when they've said they weren't confident they can do it well. But if the companions are still sufficiently deep, that works for me!
DA:TV - the main thing that has me concerned is how much torment this game went through and the layoffs it suffered as it finished up. I'm hopeful it will blow away my moderate expectations and I'm cautiously optimistic that some of those changes like dropping live-service multiplayer, will make a better game in the end. And Andromeda is a good friend of mine's favorite Mass Effect so you're not alone!
KCD2: That's awesome to hear! It's a bit tough to get into with its depth but its a great RPG (the first one) so I hope your partner will really enjoy it. And you'll get to see the story still!
New Arc Line - I hadn't connected it to Fable till you pointed it out and your dead on with Fable 2 and even Fable 3. Also got some Fallout-esque vibes from some of the trailers. It's one of the newcomers on the list that I'm super excited about.
Also isn't STALKER 2 potentially coming out this year, as well as Bloodlines 2?
Bloodlines 2 has been up in the air for a while but I think they may have now confirmed fall 2024 yeah. Might end up being very good. Stalker 2 september 5th, 2024.

Im the biggest Dragon Age fan, but theyve completely ruineed it, and Bioware is now officially dead to me. They seem to be targeting girl gamers who place romance above all, and zoomers with low attention span. (If you believe an EA game wont over monetize it, I have a bridge in Baltimore to sell you)
Spiders is too janky for me, so Greedfall was never for me.
Loved Pillars of Eternity, and WAS excited for Avowed, until we saw it... they seem to have simplified the heck out of it.. Not having romance is a massive plus imo.. Romance is ruining rpgs, and rarely done well
I wonder if Dragon Age: Veilguard will require EA App. Not too exciting considering can't get DAI to open in 2024 because of the stupid EA launcher.
Probably unfortunately. Most games seem tl require it even if they're on another platform like stream. It's like rockstar and all the others. It's so annoying.

The first Greedfall was really great, but I just couldn't get through it lol. Hope they've ironed out the reward-center distribution this time. Avowed looks amazing. Dragon Age I am hesitant about... looks like it's going to royally WOKE. Kingdom Come is the BOSS here, imo! If they improve on everything that already was awesome, then I am a happy camper and some sickleave is happening at work lol!

so when you say you're worried it's going to be "royally woke"? Dragon Age, as a series, has always had representation, its a key part of the entire series. From the moment media outlets complained about Zevran in the first game and that you could romance him as a male character. There's nothing different here and I'm not exactly sure what the issue is in the first place.
Complaints about lack of companion control I can understand, concerns about combat, I get. Concerns about there being representation in the game? it's just weird. Perhaps I'm just misunderstanding the use of the term here because it gets use way too much in weird creepy ways, often homophobic/transphobic, racist or misogynistic ways.
It's become a catchall for some unnamed grievances toward gaming in general for some without understanding the context or usage of the term I believe.
Here's hoping I'm just misunderstanding your use of the term and its not being used to insinuate that representation in gaming of the gamers who play games is bad.
You do not consider exodus as one of the best upcoming RPGs?
It won't be in 2024 so it'd be ineligible for this video. Same with Witcher 4 and others.
Greatly appreciate your DA overview. I've been a fan since the release of DA:O in 2009 ... and, for me, The Veilguard looks like it might be the best in the series. Seriously looking forward to playing it.
Me too! The more I hear about it the more interested I am. FF 10 is such a great game imo to take inspiration from for the leveling system. When they say "Fall 2024" I'm hoping its more like October than November but either way the end of this year is going to be *busy* for RPGs!

? You can play as a female in most of these games as the main character is customizable plus you can't know the companions ain't good in games that ain't out yet you don't have enough Info not to be rude but this comment makes no sense

I believe outside of kcd most of these games are create-your-own protagonist. I wasn't 100% sure on greedfall
@@RedbeardflynnRollsAOne Yep, Greedfall is also choice, just like the first game. From the steam store, "Create your own character and find allies to join your team. Help them with their quests, uncover their secrets and make them your friends, rivals or even lovers."
The only one without a customizable character is Kingdom Come, but much like the Witcher, you are a set person. In some ways, it's a pretty different type of RPG from the others because of this. Also, since it is heavy on the historical accuracy, it would be a weird choice for Henry to be a gal. There are some cool women in it, they just are not the hero.

It's actually not nearly as bad as it initially seemed. There's still going to be control just a lot less then previous games. From the sound of it you'll be able to direct them in who to attack and how by pausing.

Personally hated KCD it wasn't a true RPG and there were a lot of people upset that you couldn't fully choose what Henry does me included.
How was it not an rpg?! Its one of the few games that actually are an rpg, in a sea of games slapping on an rpg label.. Your character had to grow, and learn.. The only place it was lacking was in choice/consequence.. It was a focused linear narrative, but absolutely an rpg.
I don't get Kingdom Come Deliverance...I tried the first one and was bored to tears! Give me the worst medieval fantasy game with magic over that any day of the week! :(
Veilguard is definitely not one of those good RPGs coming.
Why's that?
After seeing the actual combat footage, I also feel that it might not be a very good RPG game. But it's also possible that the player was just bad at it. Overall, the combat doesn't seem very interesting.
We only saw the first few minutes of combat… the most basic skills.

Hearing someone say Dragon age is more about the story and companions is wild. I only ever invested because the game (story and combat) was great. Seeing how they've butchered the combat I don't see how anyone wants this game. A movie, TV show or comic, he'll yeah idc. But this as a game? I think they might as well drop the combat all together and make it a tales of series at this point. Since yall like story so much lol.
What in particular did you like about the combat in DA2 and DA:I? I get the differences from DA:O but that's been well over a decade at this point since they started shifting away.
