My brother went missing for 8 months. My mum got so old in that time. My little sister didn't speak to my mum for ages. She blamed her. I just kept looking. We found him 1300 kms away having a mental breakdown. He has now got the help he needs and we are ok. At least I know where he is everyday and for that I'm grateful.

I'm sorry your family was hurt by mental illness! At the time the police authorities were assumingly helping your family; did anyone express to you how often these mental breaks are the reason for people going missing? I think one could surmise that this must be a leading cauae of adult disappearances!

Never ceases to amaze me that in this technological age, when tiny cameras on mobile phone can take razor-sharp images, the quality of CCTV is so poor.
Well, it's basically because sharper images are bigger in size. And having to store those huge amount of data for quite some time wouldn't be possible if they where higher in quality
Higher quality cameras are also really expensive and most businesses don't want to pay for something they (hopefully) won't have to look into very often.

Tbh CCTV is a big hoax. Footage often useless and they are stored for like a week before they are deleted, often removed before police even get to start to build a case, or a case is even reported. CCTV producers are making big money on providing literally nothing. It amazes me this isn't adressed more often.
Oddly, that footage of the woman heading up to Bray is pretty damn sharp. Mho that was absolutely Ezra. That wasn't her dog. Or perhaps not a dog at all. She was pausing. Hesitating. Looking around. Second guessing her choice. Then she simply walked forward with nonchalance (hopelessness)
Don't lose hope if someone you love is missing. My brother was missing for 3 years. He came home unexpectedly one day. Never really talked about his life when he was gone. It was a dark period of drug addiction. That was 27 years ago.

I watched one of these "real stories" documentary about a dude that called himself "Mike Dubois " and his friend, Dylan, found out he was actually a missing person in 1992 and worked with Dylan until his death in 2002. His family had no idea he was still alive those ten years until Dylan came to talk with them. It was confirmed via DNA that it was their relative and the mom said she could already tell because she knew her sons eyes.
Too bad he didn't reach out to his family before passing in 2002. It was called "finding mike" really cool.

If a person wants to disappear, then OK...but have the decency to leave a note, a voice mail or a text...something, just so people know you're going and want to be left alone.
You don't know for sure he hasen't been murdered. Also you don't know what kind of mental strain people are under.
B Mandel Sometimes people are running from very dangerous people, have run out of options and they have to disappear to save their life or their children's lives. If the abuser knows the victim is definitely still alive, they'll probably put a lot more effort into hunting them down, so I can imagine some people feel it's better to go missing without a trace

About 3 months ago, I got onto my train and about 2 people of the Transport police stopped my train from departing because they thought that I was a Missing Person. It’s given me great insight to see and understand how the families must be always on the look-out for their loved one. I can’t imagine how it must feel.
That happened to me on a bus I was very young but over 21 at the time and they were looking for a runaway she was the second person they took off the bus I thought it was weird that they chose me before the actual girl they were looking for but one thing I do know is if you are a mother it would be very hard to leave your child forever without even a phone call, so I worry for the young mother missing

Mark's brother touched my heart. He was so relieved to hear that Mark is okay, I could feel the weight lift off of him through my phone's screen. Hearing them speak to each other brought tears to my eyes.
I was sad that he hasn't kept in touch n doesn't want to come home 😞 I'm crushed
I could also feel how desperately he wanted to say the exact, right thing. "Oh! You're coming home? Thats great! But, cool, man, whatever you feel like doing, no pressure. But also please, please come home. Or not, if you don't feel like it right now. No big deal. I really hope you come back. But either way, I love you." I really hope he's been able to cope with that guilt he was feeling, as Mark's older brother. He really did do his very best.
But to not tell your family you're going away? To not say to them, "Don't worry; I'll be fine and I'll keep you posted." To make family suffer like that is cruel.
To see the wife sitting eating alone without her husband broke my heart. I feel for her and all of the persons who have missing family members. I hope and pray they get answers soon.

Esra Uyrun continues to be a missing person, it's now been over 11 years since she went missing.
Tim Beardsley continues to be a missing person, it's now been over 9 years since he went missing.

The brother who found his brother alive was such a fantastic man. You can tell he loves him so much. Pretty selfish on the brothers part to just leave and not tell anyone. Was so happy for that he found his brother. Beyond sad that the brother wants no contact with his family.
You don't know that man's situation, or what he is going through. Don't you think there is a reason he would choose to live on the streets than return to home? He lost his parents, he may have been unable to cope. You can't judge someone based on an edited documentary.
The older brother and his wife may have been giving him a hard time, something isn't right there

Heartbreaking stories. My only son went missing for two months and it was terrible. We found him at last in a jail about two hours drive from my home. I was so grateful and relieved, even though he was in jail, because I then knew he was alive and had food to eat. I lost 10kg in weight dutring that time, because I could not eat.

Poor woman, needs to get on with her life. The brother did the right thing, keep communications open, friendly and a route back if he wants it.
It really broke my heart when Tim's wife wrote that message on his FB. Strong woman. I hope he is found safe and well soon (and everyone else).
I feel so sad after watching this. The grief would be too much to bear waiting for someone who just never comes back and never knowing what happened, or if it was something you did wrong. It's been 9 years since Tim went missing as of 2021. I hope his wife has remarried so she could move on.
Just days ago, my husband and I found out that his niece had been missing for 2 years!!!!! They live in Idaho and we are in Kansas so we don't see each other frequently and people get busy......still, HOW DOES THAT JUST HAPPEN? Her mom, aunt and sister lived close around her, she has 2 beautiful children! What on earth do you do at this point in the game? I'm so angry, lost, confused, scared and so much more!

Its sad police are not willing to look further into Esra's case. The way the husband almost delighted in having his child re live her disappearance felt extremely unsettling.

I just thought it was a more than a little strange that he left Ireland so fast and went back to North London...I'd want to be nearer to the scene if someone I loved was missing. Maybe his parents were there to help with his son, IDK--they didn't say. And why isn't he helping her sister to find his wife? Very odd.

I agree, who goes shopping at 7.15am? and in the clip, there was a woman in the background; so he's got himself a nice cosy new life; this man needs more investigation; didn't like the way he just walked off at the end of the clip, and left the little fellow to follow after him; there's something very cold about him.
got to say , most of these cases are extremely selfish , apart from the people who have genuine mental health conditions , but how anyone can walk out and still remember their brothers mobile phone number and not even let him know once he was alive is beyond me.

Thing is, its almost always mental health condition, including drug addiction (which is both a mental and physical health condition). Even when its not obvious or diagnosed, its extremely rare among voluntary missing to be neither mental health/addiction nor escape from abuse.

I was a missing person once.. I was scared to kill myself so I ran away about 20.000km for a week. I almost ended up killing myself there, then probably noone home would ever know what happened to me. but somehow I came back and I'm glad I did. depression can do strange things to you..
edit: my plan was to swim out into the ocean, die and just be gone without a trace of me left behind and I was so damn close to doing it it still scares me over 10 years later.
its sad to see the similarity to 2 of the cases in this video, where the last trace is near water.
in retrospect I still cant explain what I was thinking, the only thing I know is I am glad I came back so my parents and brothers didnt/wont have to die not knowing what happened to their loved one. if you are depressed and are thinking about doing such a stupid thing: DONT. talk to the people in your life!

I think only a small percentage of the people who vanish are leaving to start a new life. Most of them are victims of crime or commit suicide. But the relatives still want to belief they are alive...
I find it strange that Esra’s husband drilled that story into his son that way with the added details... know what I mean?

I felt a bit put off by it too, however to not judge without knowing all sides, it is possible he drilled that part in so his son will not wander off (like 5 year olds and younger sometimes do) on his own. I tell my kids not to wander off alone at the shops etc and the only difference is that my husband hasn't gone missing.

yes. sounds mean I know...but he wanted to leave her! he wasn't happy and his emotional needs were not met. perhaps he was majority depressed and felt lost and invisible and did commit suicide. I think it's a big possibility that he did RIP him and I hope Teri finds some peace and works through things.

My Uncle who has now passed away, was missing for 3 years in Vietnam. He was presumed dead after almost 2 years and my grandmother had completely given up hope on seeing her son again. Well after 3 years , I remember playing out front in the yard and seeing men in Army Clothes standing at the end of our road. A short curly haired gentleman walked up to me and even though I was 2 when he left, I immediately knew who he was. To make a long story short he was in a helicopter crash in the jungles of Vietnam and spent almost 3 years in recovery and didn't even know who he was for most of that time. What's sad is they believed that there were no survivors from that helicopter crash. My uncle passed in 2004 from brain cancer.
Dang I have brain cancer too. I'm also a veteran. I wonder if the military gave us the cancer? I remember getting a few rounds of mystery shots they said was vaccines and vitamins.
If you were in Vietnam, then yes. Agent Orange is linked to brain cancer, among many other things. Fully acknowledged by the military.
It's so sad. Makes you think that you don't always know the people you're closest to even when you think you do. Especially people who disappear uncharacteristically. Makes you wonder if they've been living a double life.
I became involved with someone with a fake identity, it can, and does happen. A completely double life that I only discovered after 5 years. Sociopaths are excellent at lying and acting convincingly.
100% yes. I had a cousin who did a similar thing. Her "grocery trips" were BS. She was legit having an affair with a man 3 blocks away from her home for over 5 years. One day BANG. She left her husband and "babies" whom everyone thought were her pulse. She actually packed and left all 3 of them and never returned leaving 2 massive families dumbfounded. We aren't Turks but come from a strict Orthodox background. That woman got played, or snapped. A lover. Post partum/ Depression. Or Combo. End of story.
Probably 25% of the population have double lives, probably 50% of couples have affairs on the go and around 75% of the population can lie to you while smiling and looking u in the eyes! People are scum, I wish I could live in a country where LYING or stealing or ANY sexual offender, ESPECIALLLY pedophiles, is punishable by death!! No joke!

I thought that but when the other woman said he didn't seem right the weekend before, I thought he may have had a psychotic break...sudden change is common among suicidal people. I think he killed himself sadly.

The husband had his son say the speech of how his mom disappeared. If you listen, he instructs the little boy to repeat correctly what happened. Plus the father moves away with his son? Something is definitely not right with that story! I believe Tim had been saving up money for a while and planned it to look like he commited suicide. He left his car there on purpose. The wife is in complete denial. I hope she can find peace and try to move on with life. I feel so bad for the man that didn’t want to come back to his home town, you could see him on the image slouched over on the bench really sad.

I live in Bray where Esra travelled to and where her car was last seen. Sometimes i still see posters of her up around the place and often wonder what happened. I hope she's eventually found so her family can get closure
Just judging from what was shown in this video, it really sounds like she committed suicide. The footage shows the woman they think is her walk up to the cliff, but never come back down. That's right where her car was found and her cell last pinged from the top of the cliff. It's very sad, of course...but the truth hurts sometimes.
@@kathryncumberland Somebody else could have made that phone call from the cliff, in order to cover up the fact that he had murdered her. There were no sightings of her near the cliff. People saw her car, but they did not see who was driving the car. A mother does not leave her young child. And who on earth goes to do the shopping at 7a.m.

@@kathryncumberland have you've looked at a map of the area and the walk up the hill? The policeman is basing his assumptions on the fact that the woman spotted on the cctv did not come back down, (IF this was Esra) she didn't need to come back. Option 1 she could continue walking onto Greystokes via the cliff wallk. Option 2 she could have taken the alternative cliff walk by the cross to Newcourt Rd or Eaton Ct or even Option 3 she simply could have gone to the cliff walk car park and driven off down Raheen Park, none of which would involve coming back down and being seen. I think the policeman may have overlooked this. If someone took/stole her phone and disposed of it, would it mean she was there? no, just the phone was.
Suicide is the first option Garda have in Ireland, everyone is a suicide suspect until their body is found, they simply don't have the manpower to deal with their current open missing persons cases, it's about 900, an increase of about 200 in the last 2 years alone. Not all is as it seems when you look at it closely.
I think Ezras husband had something to do with her disappearance.

That conversation with the son made me think he might have planted the memory in his son's head so the son no longer remembers something he really did see the day Esra disappeared.
He also said 'well done' at the end of his son explaining his Mum got lost. Feels so dodgy to me, like he's happy he's drilled that story into his head

Sadly you truly never know someone unless you are in their head. Some people can simply hide their true feelings quite easily, and one day just finally decide it’s time. The worst part about this would be wondering if they are either dead, or didn’t want to you and the life you had. Which one is worse?

I noticed that Tim's mate featured on here mentioned several times that Tim was extremely intelligent & clever. He explained that "Tim always meticulously researched any major decisions in his life."
Because of this, I would love to know if anyone checked/went through his personal & work 's computer history and recent searches to see if it exposed any possible leads or ideas.
I think any searches prior to him vanishing would also be helpful to uncover what his his mental state of mind was and if there was any evidence an online relationship etc.
I do hope that Tim's wife gets some answers, good or bad so that she can move on instead of living the rest of her future in limbo.

I did a little research in regards to the 2 missing people just to add a little extra to the conclusions at the end of the documentary:
Tim Beardsley (guy with wife)- Still missing although reports of him seen in the UK and abroad in places like Spain keep coming in. Surprisingly, there is practically no updates in the media or even on his dedicated missing Facebook page (presumably made by his wife) since 2016.
Esra Uyrun- Although there is no solid evidence, some suspect convicted murderer, Graham Dwyer, may be involved with Esra's disappearance. Graham Dwyer was convicted of killing another woman and apparently there are similarities between the women's disappearances. Dwyer hasn't been charged in anyway at this time it's simply a possible lead at this point. Other then that her sister still is looking and keeps it somewhat fresh in the media.

The thing about Dwyer is that despite very bad looking circumstantial evidence, there was no proof he murdered her at all. In fact, he may yet get out. I don't believe she was murdered at all, looks like suicide.

It’s pretty obvious the husband who snuck out clearly meant to leave and never return. I’m sure he’s living a new life in a new city. He’d probably been planning that for a very long time.

No one know how someone will act when the brain has a bad turn. Irrational thinking has seen people do some weird weird things. Not being around anyone is one of them so I think he just wanted out of that situation he was in. Doubt anyone did anything wrong, just stress and strain of 'that' lifestyle. Sad, confusing for all, especially the wife.
I think he was so down.. heavily depressed if in constant pain with his knee ..who know could of also prob got diagnosed with cancer and kept it private saw what happened with his dad...and overthought his problems not wanting to be a burden and disappeared...and suicide hoping noone will find his body...

Tim has left her, she needs to realise that and move on, he's out there living his best life while she has devoted her life to look for him. Sad but she needs to open her eyes, he left her.
I remember seeing this documentary a while back, it terrifies me to think that a loved one of mine could suddenly go missing for no reason and with no explanation. I imagine these people are haunted daily by thoughts about where they've gone. It's just my opinion but personally I think the case involving the missing husband is him wanting to start a new life without her.
That lady leaving the Bunny note on the step is heart wrenching. I feel they suicide and wash their body out to sea so that it saves the cost of a funeral. It's their decision, but if only they would leave a note.

Must be hard for the person to start up a new life and leave all their family behind... You leave behind wife, husband, kids, brothers, sister's, mom's and dad's you cut them right out of your life, never knowing if a new edition has been added to your family or someone dying. How hard would it be to live like that
I know, it's hard for me to fathom since I'm a homebird and can't imagine being away from my family for any amount of time. I simply couldn't live without them in my life. Also thing of leaving animals behind, your beloved pets. It must be so difficult in all respects. But some people simply can't cope and it's sort of an "easy" way out in a sense. Because you don't have to deal with anything, you just up and leave. In thatb respect I think it's quite selfish too.
I feel so sad for Esra's sister Berna. I have 4 sisters and I couldn't bear losing any one of them. I do hope that she's gets an answer, one way or another, because it must be torture for her..
Now, I know you feel like knocking your brother out, but, you will give him the biggest hug he's ever had, when you see him again! I am happy that he was found!

My heart goes out to every family who has a missing loved one. To not know where they are, to not know what they're going through or to believe they are dead and not know what has happened to their body....these things are probably the cruelest mental torture I can think of.
It's sad.
What I wonder is 14% of police time goes to missing persons, how much time do they dedicate to less important issues.
Its sad to see such massive business for missing and disappeared persons but God bless them in their work.

My heart goes out to all these people who have lost someone this way. Such dedication and continued searching. Not knowing what occurred is the worst heartache. Sooo my dad left for the first time when I was 4 years old… I don’t know how long he was missing for. However the pattern became he would just not come home from work one day, then a few years later he’d be back… repeatedly. selfish… I spent the majority of my childhood feeling rejected. Like I wasn’t loveable because he didn’t want to be part of my life. As I got older I spent my time wondering where he was and would I suddenly cross his path. He eventually passed away after 17 years of wondering where he was, if he is alive, did he have another family… the not knowing is awful. I used to be very angry, now I feel sad he missed out. PLEASE THINK TWICE ABOUT ABANDONING YOUR FAMILY it’s utterly devastating and it took 3 decades of my life away 😔

I'll just say that I hope you were able to move forward and let him go...and that any lingering negative feelings/emotions you might have experienced, even now maybe, can be put to rest. We can't change the past, but we can choose to live in peace with ourselves, and also just live and let live. No question your family story is a complicated one - most are! Be kind....we're only as good as our last interaction! 🙃

I couldnt imagine the pain these familys must be going through. I lost my Dad 3 days ago and I was lucky to be holding his hand in his final moments. But to never have closure and live never knowing must be the worst form of torture ever☹
The guy who sneaked out was spotted in Malaga 2 years after he went missing- he did a runner and now can't go back. The Irish girl still missing 7 yrs on. So sad.

In the Ezra case, how come its the sister doing all the searching, not the husband. He doesn't seem that upset. Who witnessed her leaving the house? I'm guessing the police have interviewed the husband, as they always say, 'Look at the spouse first'.

I know that if I person runs away on purpose, they really should at least leave a note, or SOMETHING just so that their family knows that they haven't been met with foul play or kidnapped. It's just cruel to do that not to.

My amazing uncle went missing in late 2017 around Northampton area, we got a call in march 2018 to say he had died in hospital on 13th December 2017 and no-one contacted us.

I called and missed my very close ...one of the closest people I ever had in life; of old age, natural causes. Like a father I never had, 83..... I missed him by a week. .....I know his feelings, I know mine.....but just one time to say goodbye. Loved him so much. Mr Paws....he had BIG strong ,,,Paws!! He used to laugh hard when I called him that. RIP Mr Paws. Such a good man and tried to help so many.
Tim Beardsley has been missing for 10 years now he went missing in 2012. Same with Esra such a long time has gone by, however I think the husband knows more than he is letting on.

I’m glad he found Mark. He was so sad looking for his brother. I think they need to have a talk. Maybe someone else in the family, or something else is making him feel uncomfortable.

I can't begin to imagine how difficult this must be for the families. I have an autistic friend who went missing out of nowhere two years ago. He took £500 out of his bank one morning and just didn't return that evening. His family obviously got the police involved and we all spent the entire evening from 7pm til 8am looking for him. There was absolutely no trace of him and it was the most worrying time of my life. Thankfully after three days we got a call to say someone found him by the river sleeping rough and he was taken to hospital. It turns out he was feeling even more anxious than normal and went out. His anxiety was so high that he had forgotten who he was and where he lived. We were lucky that someone had recognised him from a social media post. If they hadn't anything could have happened to him and he'd still be missing until this day.

I just wonder if they even consider how much pain they bring to those they leave behind. They may have their reasons for walking away, but the heart ache and suffering they cause is sickening. And although they have the right to just walk away, They need to at least leave notice with someone.
Look at the way the boy looks at his dad for approval after he tells the story about how his mum went missing. The dad then replies ‘well done’ odd much. 24.39
This is completely devestating, if your loved one went missing you would face an endless dilemma , should you keep searching for them (even though they've been missing for a long time and are probably not coming back) ? Should you stop? But how could you? Its your brother / sister / significant other etc.. your life grinds into a hault as this cycle of questions keep going on in your head.
Next thing you know weeks turn into months , months turn into years and eventually decades where you wake up one day and realize that you have not gone forward in your life as you remain a prisoner of these thoughts generated by someone's actions.
Truely truely sad.

I was heartbroken listening to the Garda speaking to Esra's sister, he was so condescending. In a world where women are more likely to lose their life at the hands of others, you feel her frustration. One day the truth will come out, but it will be from her sister's determination and not the incompetent Garda.
The husband of Ezra seemed to have moved a bit too soon. I want to know how much he was investigated. As for the other two how selfish can one human being get. One phone call would go such a long way to ease the suffering but these two men seemed to want to punish their families as well as disappear.
I really wished I knew about missing people when my dad went missing in 2009.
I'm so sorry, Caroline-Jane. My friend's daughter's been missing since 2004. It's eating her up inside. I can only imagine your pain. I wish I had some words to make you feel better but I know there aren't any. I hope you find some answers soon, for your own peace.

I can't begin to tell you what it's like and nobody else can ever understands it unless they have gone though it, I wouldn't even want my worst enemy to go though that pain, I went though not just me but my whole family. You can't eat, you can't sleep, you can sit down, you can't do anything. Anyone who looks anything like that person you obsessive about follow just to see if it's them. But we we're one of the lucky ones we did find out what happened to him because his body was finally found later on at the bottom of Avon gorge. The police did absolutely nothing to help they never ever looked all they did was 4 little lines in the evening post that if you didn't know it was there you would not have even seen. I did all the looking, I made all the missing poster's, I looked everywhere I couldn't find him, I concently phone him he never answered. Even though his body was found I still look for him even though I have got his ashes I think it's because I never got to say goodbye and never got to see his body I wasn't aloud to. I don't think I would still be alive now if he was still missing now it would of drove me mad it think. I'm just so glad that his body was found I just wish that he was found alive though. People say times a healer that's complete crap it never gets any better or easier. He was found 5 days before Christmas and that was the day I finally found out that my dad was gone forever that I will never see him again in this lifetime I can't tell you how much I miss him.

My friend went missing two weeks ago. Her car was found abandoned in a parking lot. The thought that she may be suffering and I can't do anything to help is just torturous. You never think this kind of thing will happen, especially to your own loved ones.

1.43 top left poster that is my cousin Paul carter who is missing it’s been 11years and still no answers.missing people was gonna put a big poster up down south this weekend,but it never happened my aunt who is Paul’s mom really got her hopes up for that then to have them cruelty taken away was soul destroying ,Paul’s never had the high impact like some of these stories,it would have been my aunts dream to have Paul featured in a programme like this but he always gets brushed to the side,my family done loads of charity work for missing people too.i think my aunt deserved/deserves a little help it’s a shame the way Paul’s case has been treated basically full of let downs.enough...I pray someone reads this that can help a grieving mother and family with only hopes and prayers xx god bless the missing every family deserves hope
