wow what lovely fish they were, hopefully will get over to Canada to do some fishing but in the Barrie area where i have friends living.
There are great carp fishing opportunities close to Barrie, one of my first videos, the island is not too far from Barrie and had amazing results!

Now I know what you meant the other day with you made no VLOG, you made a movie - that's a movie by any definition and a great one as well. Love a lot of the camera ankles and cuts you did - great work, must have cost you a lot of time on the water doing all of that. And of course some amazing fish you caught there - reminds me so much on my long sessions back in Europe and made me envy you so much - I think I just have to pull the trigger, get a bivvy and bedchair and make it happen again, though California is not the best place for that. It watch it with great pleasure and can honestly say you put the bar up high now. I expect a even better movie from your Europe trip - not sure where you go, but expect some more pressured fish there, though a lot of huge mirrors and even some monster commons will be all around there. Well done!
Thanks Florian, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It definitely was a really tough week (7 days) that drained every last ounce of energy we had. In the end it was worth it, but the mental and physical exhaustion was something else. Next year will be just as tough, with a lot of driving to different venues.
That shoreline reminds me of a few french venues I've fished! There's definitely something very special there and maybe one day I'll get to drop a line in! Awesome video looking forward to the next!

The mirror is rare I fish Last Mountain lake which can also be epic carp fishing ,I have caught thousands of Carp and only one mirror ,my mate lives on the lake and has probably tripled my catch over 20 odd years and he has never caught one ,ace video guys ,I actually live within 40 mins of LOP never fished for carp but plan on it in 2022

@@TeamCarpFishing Plus you approached it properly and fed it properly. There is a lot of great fishing in Canada but you HAVE to prebait and feed heavily because there is so many fish and so much natural food. GREAT JOB ALL AROUND

This video was shot at the end of August. It is very much fishable, the lake is 52km long with crown land everywhere. Boats are around on weekends, but we havent seen one come within 200m of us fishing the whole week!

I noticed this is a very large body of water, so is that why heavy baiting is so necessary? Is it possible to just drive up to the lake and start fishing an area full of carp and do well? What flavors and seem to do the best on this lake? Was your bait high protein or did they carp prefer high carbs baits?
Hi Paul, it is a large body of water for sure, heavy baiting was necessary because of the immense amount of natural food the carp have. There are also a large amount of carp in the lake and clean out everything really quickly. It is possible to drive up and fish, but its like fishing anywhere you may be lucky to get into them if they are there, if not you'll blank because they haven't found or gotten onto your bait. The fish liked all flavours to be honest, they did enjoy the fishy flavours during our time!

this is a well made film. gonna have to actually try to target these giants. I've only caught one carp, unintentionally, but what a fun fight on an ultralight setup.

Guys, I have a few questions about carp fishing in Canada, namely Winnipeg.
Where do you buy tackle? Are there carp fishing shops in Winnipeg where you can come and see the tackle of most famous manufacturers (Korda, Fox, Nash, Shimano, ...), or do you order everything in online stores ???
I ask because my family is moving to Winpeg tomorrow, and I plan to move in a few months.
This question is very interesting to me, to buy tackle in Canada or to transport from Ukraine.
You can buy your tackle from carpkit.com! They have all the big names and shipping is very reasonably priced. Very few stores carry carp tackle, as carp is not a popular fish here in Canasa. Lake Winnipeg has some of the best carp fishing in Canada as well! Good luck!
When is ice out for Lake of the Prairies?
Last I remember Ice clears out in April, but Ryan would know better than me!
What is the best bait for carp on winter and spot , or shadow or deep water thanks?
Deep water in the winter is usually where the carp will be, they will not be eating very heavily and would probably fish just a single hookbait such as corn or a popup

I used to live in Toronto not going to say where now but do u know of any good spots in Toronto for carp fishing.
Unfortunately I blanked a bunch of times early this year in Toronto. Tommy Thompson Park is good, a bit of a walk but there's some monsters there.

What makes these fish special is they are totally naturally fed other than the very small amount of bait us anglers use when fishing for them ,when you consider they have to contend with very cold winters into the -30 ,s for 3 to 5 months these fish are far from ordinary 40 ,s are not common but they are there for sure.
It is very interesting indeed. The deep water is probably where they find refuge in the winter. The amount of natural food available to them in the summer months is unreal. Ryan has had 2 x 40lb+ fish so far, and I believe commercial netting for shiners have found 60lb+ fish, catching them on rod and reel is another thing though, but it can happen!
@@TeamCarpFishing I think one of the reasons that the big ones don’t get caught as often is because of the shoal sizes competing for food and the larger ones tend to hang out in 2 ,s and 3,s , we have put 2 full sacks of rolled soaked corn out and within 24 hours is cleaned up , watching your film I think the average size is a bit bigger than Last Mountain,I know there have been 40,s caught but my PB is 37-8 and my friends is 39 but we fish right of his dock in his back yard these days ,2 or 3 pails of soaked rolled corn about 40 yards and a few handfuls off the dock and it’s game on once they find it ,we both bought Waggler rods and often float fish off the dock which is really exciting catching 30lb carp on light gear takes me back to when I fished the rivers in Yorkshire.

what size hook do you use
Really depends on the water. During PrairieBanx I tied large size 2 hooks, but always use the size of hook for the situation, large hooks with shy or wary fish cause more hookpulls in my experience.

The lake is filled, I repeat filled with carp. We filmed PrairieBanx 2 recently at two different swims and caught like crazy! Just have to get out there and explore!
