  • I was sick of fumbling around with cords and occasionally having the USB connection not make good contact and fail to charge - so I made this!

    Looks very nice! I would have tried to rough out the pattern on the bandsaw, then went straight to the finishing passes on the cnc to save some time.

      +Auarhau I tried but it was a tad too tall for the saw. It's ok though, I mowed the yard while it worked. :)

      haha, that's one big advantage of cnc I guess :D

    All of your videos are so impressive -- if not in technical talent than in artistry. Thank you for publishing.

    Very cool. I am not a wood guy but need to learn this stuff. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice charger. Very labor intensive build. Keep on keeping on.

    Great job. You could put the electronic between the layers😉

    That turned out great. What software chain did you use to create the model and tool paths?

    very nice , but i see your steal working in that shower;) and why dident you use a short and or a bigger dia end mill for the roughing ?

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety

      Lol yea, I'm making progress on that though!
      I didn't bother cause it's just wood so it's pretty forgiving of dumb ideas. It whined about it a bit but it worked well enough. :)

    I would buy something like that. it's awesome

      +fhmcateer Thanks! I thought about making them for sale but they would be really expensive unless I had enough demand to "mass produce" them.

      Makes sense. Wireless is great these days though but the stands are often plastic which looks a bit clunky

      And they all seem to be portrait only! That's why I made my own.

    Do you still make the fiber laser songs if you do can you Play "Portal - You Wouldn't Know" and "Portal - Don't Say Goodbye" with the fiber laser

    Awesome project. Where did you get the charging electronics?

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety

      They are all over ebay. Just look for "three coil qi charger board".

    • @masterrex1000
      @masterrex1000 Před 7 lety

      did you get a low amp charger? the more powerful ones can generate lots of heat that may be a fire hazard/ruin your phones battery.

    • @mchiodox69
      @mchiodox69 Před 7 lety

      Yes. Thank you. But trying to make the form without a CNC is a tad harder than it looks. At least for me it is!

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety

      Yea, I can imagine. I didn't even attempt to do it by hand. :)

  • @boobrowsky
    @boobrowsky Před 7 lety

    im not cnc expert at all and it's very hard to understand for me why not to remove somem material before gluing piece? why you need powderize such big amount of plywood?!?

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety +1

      I didn't have a way to do it easily. Anything I would have done would have to have been manual and not only is that a lot more work but there is the chance of screwing something up.
      The machine doesn't mind the extra work; I went off and did other things while it worked.

    Did you build the electronics or dismember a retail product???

  • @TheMetalButcher
    @TheMetalButcher Před 7 lety

    Still holding out on that bandsaw I see.
    Wait, what the hell. You do have a wood bandsaw. Whyfore didn't you rough it out on the bandsaw and save your cnc a mile of travel?

    • @TheMetalButcher
      @TheMetalButcher Před 7 lety

      Fantastic build though.

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety +1

      Cause it was about a half inch too tall. That's why you see the pattern taped to the side of the block; I tired that first! :)

    • @TheMetalButcher
      @TheMetalButcher Před 7 lety

      That's fair.
      Time to build a bigger one >:)

    goddamn that took so long. why not just saw the thing?

    • @ChrisDePrisco
      @ChrisDePrisco  Před 7 lety

      I didn't have a way to; the bandsaw can't cut that thick. Besides, it's not like I had to sit there and watch it. I went and did other things - that's the beauty of CNC. :)

      TheKopakah - you can adjust the play back speed, or double (or more) tap the screen (cell phone at least, lol) to advance...
