She's not only using metaphors. There are several meanings to the sentence "people walk away and never say goodbye". Many people in Israel have "walked away" and didn't get to say goodbye on Oct 7. Also, in Israel, when soldiers go to war we don't say "goodbye" we say "go in peace and return to peace" or simply "see you later".

Definitely the song is related to OCT 7. Eurovision made them change the original lyrics so it was not that obvious. The original song's name was October Rain. They changed the lyrics and the name, the melody wa skept the same. Either way it is an amazing song, and yes, you can feel she is talking about the Oct 7th massacre. That was my favorite song along with the song from Ukrania.
