Nookie Betts said that MVP should go to a player who contributed the most to the team's victory. I disagree to the part about the team's victory. Contribution should not be based on the winning of the team. Shohei contributed the most not only to LAA but also to the world of the baseball. He worked harder than anybody else yet his team lost many times. MVP should be a recognition of the value of one player's contribution, not of a team.
What Shohei Ohtani has done for the baseball should be recognized as the most valuable for MLB and for the future of baseball.
10WAR is outrageous that isnt MVP numbers thats MVP numbers in a video game.
Acuna had 6 or 7 players who homered more than 20+ 1 that had 50+. Enough said
Sho had the operation on his elbow this morning and should be able to hit at the start of next season and pitch in the 2025 season.
I really hope Shohei would go to a team that can help him fulfill his dreams in the World Series!

Cory Seager is way far to Shohei.. Short stop is easy than pitching.. What Shohei was been doing is so fantastic that no one can ever imagine.. He is super good in pitching and batting..
If Shohei was in the NL, he would not be a lock to win the MVP but he is a lock to win it in the AL as his closest competitor is Cory Seager. Seager is having an outstanding season with 41 doubles, 31 home runs and a .334/.396/.645 slashline, but the Ranger have only 12 games left on their schedule. If Seager had played a full season, he would be on pace for 62 doubles, 47 home runs and 420 total bases! Anytime a player registers 400 total bases in a season he is automatically in contention for MVP. Of course, if Shohei had played a full season, he would have 52 home runs and 200 strikeouts! So when comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges, Shohei is the AL MVP.

After 6 seasons with the Angels, Shohei Ohtani will sign an 11-year contract with the Mets in the offseason.
I believe Shohei has the AL MVP locked. I'm just worried that going for a second elbow surgery will damage his arm in the short future Ohtani needs to limit his pitching if he wants a long career being a 2-way player.

hmm... may be yes... players need to also think what's best for them. to play for a team that he can bring a World Series championship
who's the most valuable? ohtani played virtually the entire '23 season with no lineup protection, for a team that's whittled down to a triple A squad. compare that to the dodgers and braves bunched up with mvp candidates complementing eachother. and then, he was the ace of his staff, lol. this guy is mvp imo in either league despite out of action in september. ohtani shoulda been the cy young in '22 as well given his lousy team and no run support. looking forward, apparently his elbow surgery was a success and we may be seeing shohei part II at a stadium near you
My 2 cents where Shohei might heavily consider to go:
1st Astros - because of Dusty Baker.
Dusty is an old school type of manager who finds ways to win even when team is on a slump.
2nd Dodgers - because of the team as a whole. The only snag is the relationship between Dodgers and Nez Balelo.
Hopefully he goes to Dodgers or Mariners. Anywhere where the pitching and batting coaches are excellent. So he can learn more from them and be MORE than ever.
Shohei once said that what he admires most about Babe Ruth was that after 100 years, he is still talked about, remembered about how he played baseball . Shohei wants to be that type of player that even though he is gone, he has left an INDELIBLE mark in the game of baseball.
I don't care which team, but I'd like to watch Shohei playing with Elly De La Cruz together in the same team.

On the bright side, Angels have 3 young players that show they can play. Zach Neto, Logan O'Hoppe, and Nolan Schanuel. If Angels want to sign Ohtani, they can't rely on Trout or Rendon anymore. They both haven't been there for Ohtani these last 3 seasons, especially Rendon. The Angels also have terrible starting pitchers. All the starters except for Ohtani all have ERAs over 4. You can't win when the starting pitcher puts the team in the hole
I think that he’s gonna make a history of he stays in Angels and make the team going the playoffs..Angels team just need to work out on pitches and battings.. The team age great coz Shohei and Mike is there.. Why they cant go to the top while other team can? We have the two beat players.
It wouldn't make sense for Shohei to stay. The Angels have been paying him way less than the actual amount he's worth. So unless he takes a HUGE paycut (which I don't think the Player Association will let), the Angels would have to pay a large amt to keep him. And if they're already losing this badly when they paid him less, how will they ever have enough money to spend on the rest of the roster to get good players? It's not possible and think about this. If Shohei stays on the Angels, he will be overworked again and push himself too hard when dealing with the incompetence from the rest of the team. For the longevity of his 2-way play, it'd be more ideal for him to go to a better team that can help the burden on his shoulders so that he can give the same insane productivity while not having to burn himself out too quickly.
Zero chance Ohtani stay with that loses franchises of a team the Angels.
@@HeybrotruthhurtsExactly, if the Angels couldn’t win with Ohtani being paid relatively less, then they aren’t gonna win when he gets paid massively. If the Angels really care about its future and winning, then they should somehow dump all their massive contracts such as Trout’s & Rendon’s asap and start rebuilding. In fact, the Angels should have traded Ohtani last year to get tons of prospects in return. Unfortunately their owner Arte only cares about making money, doesn’t care too much about winning. 8 years in a row not be able to have a winning season is so pathetic…

yes everybody knew that. fortunately he can stay in his same house next year when he is doing his trade in hollywood wearing blue with mookie betts and freddie freeman.
Had he gotten this oblique at the same time as the other injury, or even two weeks sooner than he got it in reality, then maybe he doesn't win MVP, assuming someone else finishes strongly enough. Julio with his 31 homers and 35 stolen bases and world domination comes to mind. There are a couple of others who enter the discussion in that case as well. But I still think Shohei wins the award as of right now, taking the award away from his future teammate Julio Rodriguez.
The Cy Young is, in my view, a two-horse race right now. It is between Gerrit Cole and Luis Castillo. End of discussion. And can we at least include Servais in the discussion for Manager of the Year this time out rather than as an afterthought that we wished we hadn't forgotten about? And while he won't win it, Bryce Miller should get some love from the voters for Rookie of the Year. I would have him fourth or fifth this time out. That would make three successive years with rookie sensations (Logan Gilbert, Julio/George Kirby, and Bryce Miller/Brian Woo, with an honorable mention for Canzone).

Ohtani is amazing but he's not a 2 position player, he's a pitcher that hits.
Sounds like you don't even know that he has actually done that in Japan so its not that he can't do it, he prefers to pitch instead. and I should add, since he has pitcher arm he prob would have done quite well in the outfield just like Ichiro (used to be pitcher prior to going pro)
