    I ordered my fremington earlier today after finding out at the age of 39 my feet are extra wide (H) and I've been wearing size 11's when I'm more like a 9.5 just so they're comfortable most of my adult life.
    After watching some of these videos I'm so happy to to support an English company and people like this.

      At 47, best boots I've ever owned. I too historically had to go large due to wide feet; this is not a problem with Altbergs though.

      @@ashmaybe9634 I'm loving mine so far. I've started saving for a trip to North Yorkshire to get a custom pair.

    Just finished a weeks walking in Wales. Every night my son did this to his Altbergs, and laces. His feet were never wet, he never had to tie his boot laces, never got blisters. My friend and I were in trail boots with gore tex, always sweaty. Bought some Altbergs as soon as i got home.

    Feel incredibly lucky that I chose to watch this before attacking my first pair of issue boots. Intent on keeping my Altbergs as glorious as possible (Battle PT being the exception of course hah)

    Apply the Leder Gris by hand and then heat the boots with a hairdryer to melt it into the leather. Leave overnight and then buff with a damp polishing cloth. This technique works best for all dubbins and waterproofing waxes, not polishes.

  • @dumitruvalentincrihan2527

    Good afternoon,
    I think it is obvious that you should do this as soon as possible after your boots are dried. My question is how often you are going to do this when the boots are used on a dry environment.

    I have to say Altberg boots are really good!, a fair bit lighter than my old boots, I wet formed mine onto my feet by standing in a bucket of water whilst wearing them and walking for a few miles in them. once broken in they offer outstanding support when I'm out walking.

    Wax on - wax off. And if you do it for long enough and clean enough boots you'll be able to defend yourself from any would-be assailant via the mystical art of Kung Fu. That and your boots will be in such good condition you'll be able to crane kick them right in the balls and run away at great speed.

    1:06 - so would the brown stuff be applied first over scuffs and then apply clear afterwards? The front of my boots are getting very scuffed/scratched from walking on a lot of rough ground and I don’t really know how to clean them up.

    • @andywhysall6744
      @andywhysall6744 Před rokem

      A bit of vigorous buffing not only makes your right arm (or left arm) stronger and makes you fitter but it helps drive the wax into the microscopic structure of the leather thereby adding to its waterproofing, its suppleness and its longevity. The trick with this kind of leather is never to actually polish it....polish with a lot of pigment in it blocks the pores and prevents the leather from absorbing the wax. A bit like varnishing a Barbour jacket.

      On boots with a leather cuff, do you nourish the inside of the cuff at the top of the boots?, as surely this could crack if untreated.

      Clean the brushes immediately after use with turpentine or acetone. Wipe with paper towels and then wash the brushes with hot water and dishwashing liquid.
