    I always check yard sales for art supplies. Last year I found a shoe box full of good quality oil paints for $2.00 some of which had never been used. Finding these older supplies in new condition is like finding an art unicorn. Enjoy them and thanks for sharing.

      I agree! My friend and I are facebook marketplace obsessed haha Just last night I scored ShinHan Poster Paints 30 set in bottles for $20. Ebay RRP is over $200 and I’ve actually been eye-ing them for a while. I love good marketplace deals!

      I also always check yard sales for art supplies. I also make my husband and 11 year old son keep their eyes open for old art supplies if they stop at a yard or garage sale without me. And yes, this vintage set of Winsor and Newton is a gold mine. If that Quinacridone Gold is made with P049, you could prob sell it for $100-$200 on Ebay if you wanted to take a half pan out of it and sell the rest of the tube. The same goes for the Gambodge and the New Gambodge tubes.

    What a great haul! I think you might have hit gold with the watercolors. You may have some genuine, and discontinued, pigment treasures. Check your manganese blue and quinacridone gold...the originals behave differently from the hues. Have fun!

    • @PaletteAdventure
      @PaletteAdventure  Před rokem +4

      I checked the color chart last night and yes, the quin gold is single pigment 🤩 I will check the manganese blue. Interestingly, I noted one or two colors in my set were made of 2 pigments and whilst the newer ones are just single pigment. I’d do a proper comparison and maybe make a spreadsheet.

    Wow! Another great haul. I love vintage art supplies. I found a set of Talens pastels at a local resale shop for $6. A set of 18 and I love them. I think we share the same love for vintage art supplies. I've been collecting and using them for about 3 years....watercolor, charcoal, pastels, prismacolor pencils, oil paints, old pochade boxes, ink, pen nibs, vintage art papers. Enjoy your haul.....The WN paints are lovely.

    Sadly, Winsor and Newton moved production yet again to China! A very sad day for a proud ‘UK’ brand. I think they will end up losing the Royal Warrant they have continuously held since Queen Victoria’s reign. They have definitely gone down hill and many of their pigments have changed. You are so very fortunate to have scooped up a complete vintage set last produced in the 1980’s and most definitely of a superior quality to the current version. I live in the UK, and wanted so badly to “buy British” in these tough economic times, but I have gradually been changing to a few other brands each time I run out of my W & N after looking into the changes made in production and noticing for myself the difference. The price continues to climb though and is as expensive in the UK as many beautiful European brands. Enjoy, and cherish those paints, because when they’re gone, they’re gone… ☹️🎨🖌👩🏻‍🎨 Oh, and I just found you and have subscribed 👍🏻

      Ohh have they actually moved all production to China? I know that there are W&N paints with Chinese labels which are legit and they are sold in the Chinese market. Im stoked! but also scared to use them all up 😅 Thank you so much for subscribing ☺️

      Hi Anita! I think their production is still in France. I believe only Cotman is manufactured in China.

    Thank you for sharing the great deals you got on your art supplies. I love saving money on art supplies , well, everything!😊 You might make part of your money back selling the discounted tubes individually, if you can live without them. 😉 I enjoyed your video very much. Fran

      I like long videos. I enjoy hearing the artists views on the products. With art stores at least 100 miles away, in all directions, buying online is my best option. I really depend on the opinions of wonderful artists online. I was so lucky to find and purchase a discontinued 126 piece Caran D’Ache Neocolor ii’s. My only regret, I didn’t buy both sets she had for sale! It was new in box!

    omg looovee your second hand findings! super curious about the story of cotman backpack xD hope you gonna do video for each trying them out! I bought so far only used soft pastels from koh-i-noor (74 pieces for 13euros - barely used :)) ) and today i ordered once used roman szmal 's palette. I'm curious about a tubes, I was always scared to buy them second hand in case if they dry outs. However your box is such a vintage finding i believe it's worth to have on a display hahaha. All the best!

      Did you mean the story of the seller? Haha Im not sure. Nice findings too! Where do you get your second hand supplies? I’ve bought a lot of second hand tubes and only one paint was dried - a 1970 Winsor & Newton Watercolor Sap Green. I was able to revive it! I’ve bought gouache as well and all in good condition!

      Mostly facebook marketplace! I guess it also depends where you live? Here in Australia, some people just want to get of rid things quickly so they give it for free or list for cheap. I get lucky with older people getting rid of art supplies and sometimes deceased real estate sale. Just last night, I found Shinhan Poster Colors 30 set (bottle form) for $20aud. Ebay RRP for it is over $200.. You just gotta know where to look. Sometimes I check other states and had successful purchases as well.

    Until about 6 months ago we could buy Winsor & Newton watercolours from the UK through Jacksons and Ken Bromley Art Supplies but since Jacksons opened a distribution centre in Australia the UK will no longer supply Winsor & Newton to Australia and we now have to pay a fortune for them!!! Sooooo unfair... Thankfully we can still buy Schmincke and the rest from the UK at an affordable price... otherwise I could not afford to paint with watercolours here in Australia - also buy my watercolour paper from the UK as well, again because it's sooooo much cheaper

    • @PaletteAdventure
      @PaletteAdventure  Před rokem

      Interesting. Ive been ordering from Jacksons UK since 2018 or 2019 and at that time I was still able to buy W&N Cotman. In 2020 or so, they restricted W&N to Europe only due to trading reasons. Ive honestly only tried W&N Pro couple of months ago cause I found a good secondhand lot. They’re too expensive locally.

    The more I watch your hauls and see Winsor and Newton, the more I realize how badly they let such an amazing, historical brand slowly slip in quality. The design and packaging look amazing then but now, it's all plastic and cheap looking. Even their paints to be honest. So many other watercolor brands have better paints and still, keep quality packaging. Very sad.

    • @PaletteAdventure
      @PaletteAdventure  Před rokem

      I agree and it is really a shame but also the reason why im attracted to vintage WN products because the quality was so much better.
