- Join us on an unforgettable adventure as we tackle the Hopi Salt Trail in the Grand Canyon! This video captures the treacherous descent to the breathtaking turquoise waters of the Little Colorado River. The sun beamed overhead as we navigated the rugged landscape, demanding sure-footed balance, mechanic gloves, and plenty of water.
At the bottom, we were rewarded with the cool, refreshing waters of the Little Colorado River-a stunning oasis after the challenging hike. Please note, the ascent wasn't filmed due to the darkness and the numerous climbing spots that required both hands free.
This journey is not for the faint of heart or those seeking a spontaneous adventure. It requires preparation, endurance, and a spirit for adventure. Be sure to keep in mind the elevation level you are at compared to where you live. I came from sea level to 5,600 feet of elevation. That alone tires you out faster in my opinion than the trail. We did this in Nov of 2023. We actually decided to camp in that wash you got sidetracked in. We knew there was no rain in the forecast and so we day hiked down to the LCR the following day, so we had lighter packs and then had less to hike back out with our full packs. FYI, if you stand on the helipad and face the LCR there is a filterable stream to the right down the slope. It's still brackish but less than filtering the LCR. Amazing hike but definitely need to have hiking and scrambling experience and be in good physical shape. Nice video

Haven't done this yet but plan to soon. I'd guess it very much like doing Flat Iron in the Superstition mountains? Isn't there a fresh water spring down there as well you can filter water from?
I’m not familiar with the Superstition Mountains. They sounds really awesome though.
There is a fresh water spring down there or creek. It is north of the helo pad.
