  • The Little Colorado River is a major drainage of northern Arizona. This Google Earth tour begins at the edge of the San Francisco volcanic field and continues northward for about 35 miles to just south of the prominent Black Point lava flow.
    Annotation notes rock formations, Grand Falls, meander scars, abandoned channels and other geologic features encountered in this stretch of the Little Colorado River. A product of the Arizona Geological Survey

    Where exactly is the abandoned channel?

      there are many abandonded channels all over where it used to be the easiest path but isnt anytmore so it creates a new canyon carving instead just like the grand canyon has tons of active and abandonded channels creating an insanely massive beautiful layered deep canyon
