    I can't begin to thank you enough for this video. There are a ton of great MX650 modification videos out there that have plenty of detail in them that inspired me to get a 650 in the first place, but this is the first one that actual shows all the steps that other videos do off screen and then just tell you how to do. The fact that you actually showed how to recess the screws in the motor other than just saying you can do that, has been something I have been searching for and dreading to go in relatively blindly. That part is an absolute necessity that someone trying to become handy, like myself, needs to feel comfortable with potentially ruining their Razor lol. Thanks again for the guide and confidence boost. I can finally put the motor I have sitting around in my MX650 with some comfort.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      I would just take a piece of wire and strip the ends and poke them in the connector to test it. It should stay in place itself, but the best way is to put one end in the middle pin; get someone to lift the motor wheel and give it full throttle, while you touch the other end of the wire to the high-speed pin, so that you can see/hear the difference.

I buy used from marketplace and yardsales.

    They must wire up those switches different now in the throttle. Followed your instructions to the t but decided to go ahead and hard wire speed switch and volt meter on the throttle. I have 1 as medium 2 as fast and 3 as slow. It's all good though. It works and that's all that matters. I don't have a piece of wood to mount the controller on. I noticed if you place the heat sink inside the right hand side of the box that it fits nice and tight. Just wondering what i should do to mount it. Thinking about some sticky velcro, or drilling into the side of it and mounting it directly on to the case

      I built this to ride in places that don’t allow gas powered vehicles. The battery upgrade is decent but if your going through all that trouble might as well get the motor/controller setup instead of just over volting the old components. I own gas dirt bikes as well and they all have there time and place.

    Do you think you can make a video on the side Panel and show how to do the wiring bc when I was watching the video whatever you used to wire it up it wasn’t on the link for the parts and wires. So if you can can you make a vid on showing what you need for the side panel and the wires you need for it and how to do it that would be great.

      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před 2 lety

      The wires on the side panel are what comes on the bike stock. The only other wires were the ones for the e lock which are just standard 18 gauge wire.

    How was the torque compared to the stock motor .I ride in the woods on mine with small hills . The stock motor with 48 over volt don’t like to pull the small hills that great.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před rokem

      It has way more torque than stock, not really even a comparison. It does pretty good on hills with people 200lbs and lower. It will kill the battery faster but the new motor is 1800 watts vs stock 650 watts

    And whats the difference between the RSF650 AND MX650, SX500?

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      I am 5’10” 200 so probably the same setup. Not sure about the rsf650 but the MX650 and SX500 are only slightly different . The main difference I know of is the battery box is slightly larger on sx500 because of the angle of the rear shock but it sits about 1 inch lower. Otherwise they are pretty much same. If you are going to mod it right away I would just get the cheapest. There are probably people selling around you with dead batteries, I see them all the time.

    If you switch it to the highest speed, are you still able to regulate your speed with the twist grip? What I mean is, can you hold it at part throttle and just cruise?
    It just seems like your throttle starts very violently. I like the stock throttle feel because of how smoothly you can take off. I have read this to be a common complaint with these kits and the science-y people blame it on the actual controller, not the twist grip.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před 2 lety

      You can regulate your speed but it definitely has a jerky start. It works like you would expect it after you get going. After riding for a while I have learned how to control it better. I heard the same thing, with a better controller you can program more and get a smoother take off.

    Would it be fine if I run a 72v 3000w kit with 48v 20ah battery? That way if I ever want to upgrade to a 72v battery later, I don’t have change out the motor and controller.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před 2 lety

      Yes you need to wire two of the three speed wires together. You will have to try different configurations to get the top speed.

    Hi, I copied your build last winter and have been loving it ever since. I am running into an issue though. FYI, I kept the standard front sprocket. My kids are hesitant to ever ride this now because of how snappy the initial start is. The speed is gradual controlled by the throttle, but the initial pull can dump you on your butt if you are not careful. Is there anyway to tone this down? Can this maybe be connected to the controller or throttle I bought? I am wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

    • @jacobanghel235
      @jacobanghel235 Před rokem +1

      If you increase the sprocket number to 13 or 15 tooth it will have less torque on the low end and it will go faster on the high end

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  Před rokem

      The sprocket change will help. I have also seen people buy a separate three speed controller and buy a better throttle. The cheap throttles don’t give a low enough resistance giving you the harsh takeoff.
