  • I just took delivery of the new 2022 Indian Challenger in Maroon Metallic and I give you full look at the bike and do some basic comparisons to my 2018 Springfield.
    We installed the Indian Stage 1 slip ons and intake as well as the Indian Stage 2 cams before it ever left the dealership.

    TOTALLY agree re the xposed nut on the tank. Makes a great bike look unfinished! A pad for the rear brake is a definite MUST. Looking forward to your review of the KST bars. The horn IS embarassing too. Great call re the lack of buffeting. BTW, I had a set of Stage I Indian pipes, AND a K & N air filter installed with a flash tune. The bike is running SO smooth and hard now, after a really rigorous run in, by the book.

    Very nice bike and excellent color. Was shocked to see how quick and easy the windshield changed out. I left HD after 3 decades mostly due to being air cooled which really sucks in traffic. You mentioned the seat, I have Russell Day Longs on my Wings, will never have any other seat again, and I've had many! May take a renewed look at Indian. Another enjoyable video, thank you.

    As a proud owner of a stunning 2019 Indian Springfield in gray and burgundy, I have mixed feelings about this. I know the Challenger will be a great bike for you, but every time I open the garage and see my Springfield with that jewel TS 111 engine, I still get a chill up my blain, so I don't see my self getting a new bike any time soon. The Springfield just has my number. Your early vids about your Springfield helped inspire me to lean towards my purchase of one, for which I will be forever grateful. Enjoy your new ride. You picked a nice color on that as well.

    • @TwoIndians
      @TwoIndians  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s a combination of factors including the desire for music, better wind mitigation, longer cruising distance etc etc etc. Don’t get my wrong, the Springy is still in the garage and will still get miles.

    • @roguecheddar
      @roguecheddar Před 2 lety

      @@TwoIndians Yeah, I can understand that, especially the wind mitigation. The Springfield also makes a great boulevard cruiser. Sometimes when I'm doing a deep clean on it, I'll strip off the shield and bags just go buck naked. Feels like a different animal and still looks stunning. Me?, not so much.

Unfortunately the local dealer is very hungry and I will NOT feed them… I love Indian motorcycles because they dare to be different but with dealers that bringing the Indian MoCo down I will not make the switch… Great video there you guys laughed at the intro and wishing you both a very merry Christmas 🎁🎄 to you and yours from Arizona!!!

    I really want the water cooled bike, but want it in “ultra limited” type trimming.. adding a trunk, lowers and associated stuff makes it way too expensive. Indian add ons are crazy money. Indian needs to step up and just dress the damn thing out (competitively priced) and give the MoCo some competition.

      Every manufacturer on planet earth has expensive parts, and they’re not getting any cheaper. I’m with you though, they need to get a trunk designed for this platform and fast. To me it’s inexcusable and lazy to expect Challenger owners (not to mention all the owners of bikes with the now current slammed saddle bags) to use the same trunk as the disco tied rounded bags. My riding buddy has one in the metallic black it’s a beauty. Looking at ordering one too, just the wait times will be the deciding factor as riding season is only 5 months long in western Canada. Don’t want to pay for a bike to get it and put it in the garage for another winter season. I’ve had a ride on my buddies it’s a lovely ride for a cruiser. I have a Triumph Trophy SE so this Challenger is as close to a sport cruiser you can get. I noticed it’s a little warm on the right side of the engine when at a stand still; but other than that it looks great with the exception of that one screw staring at you 🤣🤣

    I own a 2021 Challenger Dark Horse with custom blue paint. I added Stage 2, Indian heated/cooled seat, heated grips, blacked out LED headlight and running lights, and extender on rear shifter. Horn is a disaster. Horn fails to fulfill its function as a safety device. My dealer describes this as a "known issue." I have a tour pack that is removable when unneeded. Overall, I am lov'in my Challenger. I also ride a 2020 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT.

      I also have a 2020 GW Tour DCT, but even after three riding seasons (well, the third one is not over yet), I am not convinced about the bike in general and the DCT in particular. While it is an absolutely smooth and refined ride, it lacks soul and character (and the sound of a motorcycle). It’s almost as if you ride a Toyota Camry. And the DCT is a hit or miss. Great in heavy traffic, but not always a joy in the twisties (unless you shift manually, but then what’s the point). The DCT also disengages you from the bike somewhat. I may trade her in for a Challenger, so these reviews are helpful.

    You must be frustrated that there's a Dark Horse red and black Challenger out now! That's the model I've got my eye on. Going from an old Triumph Rocket 3 to one of these has me concerned about the decreased cornering clearance and the down grade in torque and power . It doesn't help there's no demo Challenger bikes to try in Tassie . Step up Indian and push some demo bikes and stock out to the Aussie dealers please 🇦🇺

    • @TwoIndians

      Well, I won’t lie to ya, the power difference is no small consideration, as a matter of fact I’ve considered getting an R3 for a fun around-town type bike but deciding against because I’m afraid I’d be disappointed getting back on the Chally. But the reality is the Challenger a very capable touring bike with more than enough grunt for me to happy. As far as the cornering goes, I mean, it’s a bagger, this is for heading out on a road trip. Oh, and will shred the twistees.

    There are things i like about Polaris, the Challenger and Chieftain's are nice looking bikes (from a distance)
    I find the colour options from Polaris sucks, not much in the way of options in colours.
    I also dont like the look when you get on the challenger/chieftain - Its like getting behind the wheel of a Toyota (Very plastic feeling)
    Fit & finish is also questionable
    I looked at the Challenger a few months ago along with the Chieftain and ended up doing with a 2021 Harley SGS because of a few reasons.
    1) Aftermarket - There is nothing i could want that i cant get with Harley
    2) Fit and finish - Polaris doesnt even come close to Harley's fit and finish
    3) Paint - Nobody does paint better than Harley
    4) Lousy dealer network and dealer service is so poor and most Indian dealerships because most dealerships have to sell multiple brands to remain open, therefore most dealerships have 1-2 mechanics authorized to work on an Indian
    My local Harley has 15 full time mechanics that work on Harley's
    I know we dont buy a bike because of network; however, trying getting stuck - sure nice having a Harley dealership within an hour of almost anywhere and when on the road from out of town, you move to the front of the line. (doesnt exist with polaris)
    5) Harley is so much easier to work on and aftermarket just fits perfect whereas Polaris/Indian there isn't much out there.
    Congrats on the new bike

    Brian, I'm a little confused. At a starting price of $28k, this mc doesn't seem to excel at anything in stock form. You comment on the Challenger's legendary power, which it simply doesn't possess, and then proceed to add Stage 1 & 2 kits. What bikes are you comparing it to? The Challenger obviously doesn't fit you well or provide good comfort, otherwise you wouldn't need to change the handlebars and seat. You mention the fit & finish and lack of detail in certain areas. Are you now going to change the rear brake pedal? If I'm not mistaken, didn't you add crash bars too? And what about the lack of a passenger backrest and passenger floorboards? I think those items should come stock on a bike this expensive. Just from what you've mentioned in the video, you've added another $5k or so. And yet, it's a great bike or another Harley type expenditure scheme. Bottom line, if you enjoy this bike, then good for you.
