If N=1 trials are to be ignored, no antibiotics for you. Penicillin's only mass trial was with mice, after that it was one patient at a time. Also "anecdotes". The reason it was acceptable because it acted so fast. The reason carnivore is legit is because results happen almost immediate too. I just wish what I eat doesn’t have to be a discussion and judgement by others.
I went plant based this past spring for health reasons. I was noticing that any time I ate animal products, whether at home or in a restaurant, I felt sick and suffered digestive issues. I’ve been lactose intolerant for 30+ years, so cutting out the rest of the animal products wasn’t super tough. Especially now, since there are so many great vegan and plant based content creators with great recipes. But making the change to my diet has made such a difference.
I live in the rural Midwest. I’m the oddity buying tofu and tempeh at my supermarket. When we go out to eat (which I study the menu ahead of time) I try to not be the annoying customer making too many changes to my order. My husband’s family doesn’t really understand me. My BIL and his wife believe a meal’s protein source has to be meat. Even pasta sauce has to have meat in it. My MIL thinks I should be able to eat eggs.
I just want to eat my meals in peace.

I’m 17 and have long covid (POTS/MECFS) for two years. I’ve gone from being able to go to school, top of my class and performing in choir and musicals to being housebound and using a wheelchair as I’m unable to walk more than a few minutes consecutively.
I love your videos and when I clicked on this one I was surprised you posted it minutes ago. I didn’t expect you to mention long covid, no one ever does and I paused the video just to comment because I’m so grateful. I watch your videos, usually listen to them at night when I can’t sleep due to pain and other symptoms. Your videos make me feel a lot better about not being ‘perfect’ with my nutrition especially with how much unsolicited advice disabled people get about how this diet or that diet will fix us. I feel so seen knowing that someone I’ve been watching and look up to actually knows people like me exist and that it’s a real condition.
Thank you so much for validating our experiences because most people don’t even acknowledge that we exist or worse yet think it’s psychological ❤️

Yes TY Swayze for the shout out. A lot of people with LC lived extremely healthy lifestyles beforehand, personally I was not perfect but I was extremely active and I ate vegetables. We likely have some type of genetic predisposition to developing a post viral illness. There's only so much of your health that you can control. The truth is this type of "change your diet and you will be cured" mentality is based a lot on the idea that we are all the only ones responsibly for our health. Which is true on some level, but with Long Covid the most likely scenario is that the only way we will ever see any type of standard treatment or cure is through more research and more investment from pharmaceutical companies(ugh). So every time someone with a platform sheds a little light on long covid, I feel a little bit of hopefullness that my illness is becoming more well known and understood.

@@Silversumire I’m so sorry you’re in this position too, but it’s really good to meet someone else with it out in the wild so to speak.
And yes they do! I’ve been active on twitter in the long covid community since I got sick and so many are bodybuilders or athletes. I think the mentality of the no pain no gain mindset and being used to pushing past physical pain or fatigue that we do when working out is what causes it, since in MECFS, exercise makes us sicker and suddenly we can’t bounce back. I know for me I was very physically active and over exercised after I initially caught the virus, now studies and experts are saying the best ways to prevent long covid is not to catch it at all or if you do, to rest and completely listen to your body’s signals if you’re tired or feeling any forms of symptoms for up to a few months after.
Exactly that, I feel hopeful when I hear people talk about it outside of my circles, we are being seen and hopefully that means the outlook on complex chronic illnesses is changing. I’m also feeling very hopeful because there are a lot of drug trials (ie ampligen, BC007) and research happening now to find bio markers and treatments. And, in America, they just had a hearing on Long Covid which is historic. MECFS patients have been here for decades and I’ve met a few who have been suffering with post viral illness for 20-30 years, I really hope that research can help them too.

Before I got a recent celiac diagnosis, I'd see the carnivore diet around being peddled as a cure for IBS and similar GI ills. It's frustrating that the people it "cured" likely just needed to go on an elimination diet and slowly reintroduce more variety. Heck, if I were desperate and willing enough to eat meat (let alone ONLY meat), I might have thought it cured me too since a carnivore diet would be naturally gluten free. Turns out though that I also feel great just eating my normal diet minus the gluten.
I don't doubt that some minority of people out there might have severe enough sensitivities to a broad range of plant foods that maybe a meat-centered diet might be the only way for them to get enough nutrition, but it seems highly unlikely for that to be true for all the carnivore evangelists out there.

Dear Unnatural Vegan: I have been eating 95% carnivore for 10 months now. I used to have arthritis pain in my knuckles; I have several non-bending knuckles that have been crippled with arthritis for years now. As of about 2 months into my new diet, they all quit hurting. I rarely get any kind of “aches and pains” any more. I changed my diet after being told I have possibly 2 kidney stones in my left kidney. 80% of kidney stones are calcium oxalate. Oxalate is found in great quantities in spinach, nuts, especially almonds, beet greens, and grain-like seeds like quinoa and teff. It’s in lesser quantities in many, many plants that humans commonly eat, including grains and potatoes. It’s ubiquitous in the western diet. I’m 65. You DO look older than your calendar years. You look pale and washed out. If you have those aches and pains at your young age, something is not right. I recover better from exercise now. I hardly burn in the sun now. I sleep like a baby. I have no mid-afternoon energy slump any more. My nails are stronger than they used to be. My mood is calm; things that used to bug me I now find way less irritating. In the carnivore community, my experiences are common. People get cured, yes, CURED, of depression. Bipolar disorder. T2 diabetes. And so much more. Dr. Baker is right: eating a lot more meat, and way less plant matter, would be very good for your health, both physical and mental. I wish you and all vegans well. 🙏

Which is not to say the diet is without challenges. I believe a vegan diet can work for some - and all power to them. The many many individual reports - on the beneficial outcomes of the carnivore diet for weight, mood, autoimmune diseases and general health, in particular, are compelling, nonetheless. But as you point out, all of these makes you feel better and live better but definitely will not magically stop our hair from going grey! 🩶
We need more normalisation of aging! Thank you sooooo much for this!!

Well first of all carnivore diet is subgenre for ketogenic diet and the main thing is not to eat carbs (limited max 20 grams for a day) and turn your body from carb burning to fat burning. Carnivore is just more strick than keto. It is a elimination diet to fix many health problems and heal your body. Also in healthy ketogenic and carnivore diet people are not consuming seed oils or margarine (both are highly processed) and eats only fat from animals or from dairy like butter. If you are in keto you can eat also olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil. Basicly oils/fats that have lots of omega 3 instead of high amouns of those oils that contain more inflammatory omega 6 and transfats.
So mostly vegan diets are carb based diets and the main problem for many people is the carbs. As long your body relies on getting carbs and works with carbs it usualy doesn´t burn fat as it should. Carb based life leads most of the people to insuline resitance and to type 2 diabetes and causes obesety.
On a ketogenic lifestyle you make your body to fat adaptive and you use ketones as your source for energy instead of carbs. That is possible for vegan too, but it would be very hard to get enough proteine and fat from plant based food sources. You also can´t get vitamines like D3 or B12 from any vegetable. And this the base for keto and carnivore.
I am not on carnivore becouse i like to veggies as well. But i have noticed in last 11 monhs in keto that the less i eat veggies the better my gut health is. Every time that i ate more of veggies i get bloated, i get gas problems and most of the time i suffer from dhiarria. So it would better if i would go fully carnivore instead of keto. But i just enjoy the taste of sallads, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, bell peppers, onions, garlic, turnips, carrots and etc. that i don´t want to switch to full carnivore. I still want variety to my food even that i know those are going to be bad for my guts.
But i have to say as i were all ready insuline resistant at over 11 months ago, i sure am not anymore. Just in three months i fixed my blood sugars to idealic state. i have loct ove 57 lbs of weight (26kg). I were obese when i started and now i am slightly over weight (in three months i´ll be normal weight by BMI).
There is so much of health benefits that i gained from ketogenic diet that i couldn´t even believe first. All came as bonus as i were planing to lose some weight and get rid of insuline resistance. I wont get back to carb based diet / lifestyle again, that for sure. I don´t want to risk my help becouse some boso has determined guide lines how we should eat. That is totaly b*llshit. That is the reason to get so sick in the first place. I am 43 years now and i am healthier than i were at my 20:ees...

You lost weight due to calorie deficit not because you were "fat adapted". Also there is no data that high carb diets cause insulin resistance/Type 2 diabetes its the opposite. There are actually people who gain weight on carnivore . online many people complain about the weight gain despite everyone saying you can eat as much butter as you want. I'm not saying animals products are bad for you or that we should be vegan because that's also not good for long term health. Animal products like meat eggs etc can be good for you but overall diverse diet can be benefical. however people with extreme autoimmune conditions can benefit from very extreme elimination diet like carnivore. Also feeling bloated by veggies can be easily fixed by fermenting it and also just a sign of poor gut health it's not that the veggies and fibre is bad for you. but congrats on you being health.

@@Pokerface8899 " there is no data that high carb diets cause insulin resistance/Type 2 diabetes its the opposite"
So tell me if the carb based high carb poor nutrition doesn´t make you insuline resistant or having t2d, what does?
Of course bad fats and highly processed "foods" combined to carbs are propably that "Bermudan triangle" that creates inflammation and insuline resistance way quicker than whole food, low calorie and making everything from scratch.
I tried many kinds of diets that were carb based and those didn´t work. I were on low carb diet, eating whole foods, ditched bad fats and oils and even ate suplements just in case that i wouldn´t get enough daily for my food. Still i gained 2kg/4,4lbs weight every year.
But when i finaly dropped carbs below 20 grams a day and finaly got to stage that my body had to start burning fat for energy, i was eating way more calories that ihad eaten for years. I took me three days to get to that point. After that i started to get the respond what i needed and my body were finaly burning the fat. First three months i losted 13kg/28,66lbs and my high blood sugars dropped to the ideal stage.
Yes, people can and will gain weight on carnivore diet. It is completly bs that you can eat as much butter as you want. Calories still are calories in carnivore and keto too. You sure burn fat but over eating is still possibility. Also in carnivore and keto, you´re eating high amounts of proteine so it is pretty easy to gain muscle too. But there is that benefit even that you gain weight you can still see that your clothes were getting loose and you are dropping sizes of your clothes.
I had that kindof stages couple of tines as i started to move more after losing weight becouse i had more energy and as getting lighter it was way more easier.
Fermented foods doesn´t help my gut problems. Fermented foods only gets me bad dhiarria. Lactic acids are even worse.
After several months on keto i now know witch veggies causes me troubles and irritates my bowls. So i rather ditch those out of my diet and eat others. I still like to eat veggies and don´t want those out of my diet, but the just had to eliminate few off.
But everyone does what ever it takes for getting healthier. We all are still induviduals and everybody have to find the own path what works the best. For my experience i ain´t returning carb based lifestyle. I rather keep these health benefits that i have gained.
      Helthy life for you too!

I don’t subscribe to any YT videos, but do see a fair number of the Baker ones. the him eating steak series is .. rare. but those are intended to be very short blips. to .. actually be an interesting discussion point. / the bulk are longer, and offer significant talking / discussions in the comments / bringing up studies that often affect health in all kinds of capacities / all food myths are fair game, the goal is health, not ideology. / many diets around the globe, but the common flaw is anything processed, and .. oxalates can be very damaging in particular.

I switched from carnivore to plant based for ldl cholesterol levels .. I felt good on carnivore (90%) I feel just as good being plant based (95% … occasional fish to keep wife happy when going out). Prior to immersing myself in this diet BS I never felt diet made me feel good or bad … the carnivore did made me feel “fat” because I was … probably not carnivore fault .. more me just over eating … same easily happens plamt based. I was actually surprised how easily it is to put on weight on a whole food plant based diet .. I’m 66 .. run 10k/day, and do CrossFit 5d/week with EXCELLENT ldl cholesterol … however, if I had 1 day to live .. I’m getting a big Mac and a double dipped Dairy Queen cone.

Idk. I hear what she's saying, but you can't discredit how many people have done it for years and have seen a lot of improvements and that you really can't get all ether nutrients you need from vegetables that you can from animal products. You do look good to me though. You looked younger in the other video. Idk what to think of that. Hmm. Killin that top by the way.

Dr Greger wrote a book on "How not to age", so diet is related to aging. We are all aging but we can do it at a slower rate if we take care of ourselves, diet being the main thing. You look great because you take care of yourself, otherwise you would be obese, your skin would look bad and you wouldn't have all your teeth. Of course that genetics are important but diet does count too! 😊

Something I cannot entirely agree is that a whole plant based diet doesn't help with health issues. In ,y case, it has solved most of those I used to have before, and I see many people saying the same in my groups.
People who say you look 50 have no idea what 50 looks like. They're probably 12 themselves.

Whole plant based isn't necessarily vegan, others are junk food vegans. A whole food plant based diet will be better on average than any diet with lots of junk food.
