Plate Glass Circle (Large)--Here's how you do it

  • Just a vid of me, cutting out a circle from 1/4" plate glass.
    It's a bit boring, I know, since I decided not to give a play-by-play of what I was doing, and instead just cut the glass while letting you look over my shoulder.
    What can I say: sometimes I just don't feel like listening to myself talk.

    Great vid. Why don't you slice from the circle to the edge of the glass on all 4 sides? Wouldn't the smaller chunks make it much easier to remove?

    Do you have a video of sanding the edges?

      Unfortunately I don't, and I no longer work there.
      Sigh.
      I wish now that I'd recorded more of the projects I worked on; some of them were pretty strange/interesting.

      Etaukan I see. I am hesitant to use a power sander on glass, but hand sanding seems to be arduous.
      By the way, Jesus is the Lord and the only way to heaven. God bless.

    does the small radial cut start exactly at the circle cut, or a little short of it?

    • @Etaukan
      @Etaukan  Před 6 lety +1

      A little short of it; a break in glass will jump a short distance to another break or to the edge of the glass. Trying to score it all the way to the circle cut risks making a little nick in the circle, which (on a bad day) might be all it takes for the the whole circle to crack in half when you stress it.
