- Dion Waiters was a guard everyone waited on his potential to finally kick in. He was on his way early in the league, but by 25 Dion Waiters was already a journeyman, on his 3rd NBA team. A Miami Heat team he was suspended 3 times in 1 season by for reasons like griping about playing time and role, only to not play the next game and show up eating popcorn on the team bench during the game, calling in to work sick then posting a picture on instagram on a boat celebrating his birthday, then the most infamous, eating a THC infused gummy before getting on the plane with the team to L.A, having a panic attack mid air and having to have emergency medical attention upon the plane’s landing. Dion Waiters was supposed to be a star. After all, before he entered the league all anyone could talk about was his potential. What happens when potential is polished to the best finished product? Drafted Before Hall Of Famers and Out The League At 28! Dion Waiters Stunted Growth

I love this channel , so well researched . Easily one of the best channels when it comes to the NBA!
Thank You!
Anyone who knows basketball could tell he had talent 💯
Agree
Exactly he could score on all 3 levels and was a cheat code on 2k
@@kalebcreer5240 i still has a waiters card on 2k23 myteam. he is my dawg
No IQ though and wanted to still be street.
@@tayluc777 u wrong goofy
So many Cuse hoopers on stunted growth...Might have to talk about Jim Boeheim at this point
That Little Run He Had With The Heat The Second Half Of That Season Was Crazy 🔥
Bro really was goin dumb
"Popcorn, boats and weed" sounds like a club banger
He had a 8-10 year career that’s pretty good imo.
Found Dion Waiter’s burner account
As a Heat fan, I thought if someone could fix him it was Spo. He was still inconsistent when he got to Miami but Spo let him be himself and he had some great games in a Heat uniform, he still was mostly a shot chucker with tunnel vision but shown playmaking capabilities when his shot was falling. It doesn't help that he got lazy and erratic after he got that long term deal and was already throwing tantrums about Herro playing over him before the gummy incident.
If not for his immaturity and overconfidence, he could've been a decent to great combo guard which we saw glimpses of in his first year in Miami.
The team just wasn’t good at the time… Dion is a champion tho… lol the heat team is still not good
Talent he was a superstar who never had his own team
@@joshuamorris9739dion was a superstar? Lay off whatever you been taking
@Bean KoBe a team that is currently playing in the finals is not good… ok sir
@@danielpeters7423 deon was on the lakers team that beat Miami in 2020 bro😂 no way your this stupid .
First thing comes to mind is that one hesi jumper he used to do. It's like the defense had to know it was coming, but just couldn't stop it. Mastered that move. Imagine if he expanded his bag.
He was very talented, but even at the time he was over drafted. He came off of Syracuse's bench, but was drafted #4 🤷♀️
😊09l9😊

...will you do ...jt money...poison clan
Man that hesi js was very nice
It was always fun seeing him go off. He had all the tools and none of the mindset. Does anybody remember that game where he missed all 10 of his shots in the first half and then made all 10 of his next ten shots 🤣.
“You can tell if he lets go he’d be Raymond Felton” Lmaoooo perfect analogy
That season where the Heat started 11-30 and had that crazy turnaround Dion was special
Bill Simmons favorite player!
I remember that 1 heat season he had where he looked like a clutch player. Man was closing out games and hitting buzzer beaters
Yall went to the eastern conference that year right.
Do rodney stuckey
Bro had potential shoutout stunted growth ❤
Love you Dion….. one of my favorite Youngbuls of all time …. I remember playing pickup games with him in my neighborhood in South Philly 31st and TASKER and he was only 16 not even playing high school ball…. I said this nigga can play in the league right now!!!! Bang from 31st !!! Keep ya head youngin…. You just needed the right fit but more importantly willing to put the work in which I knew you did… somewhere along the line frustration set in… lastly, that how we rock in South Philly… we don’t play second fiddle to nobody… idgaf if you’re name is Lebron KYRIE or KD…
banger video you never miss bro
Man, such great content.
You know what would be cool? Seeing one on Tom Guggliotta. He was was an all-star at some point and then dropped off.
Facts
Him and Christian Laettner, 2 promising power forwards.
Was waiting on this one
Bro your videos are mad underrated. Keep up the good work.
6’4 225 pounds. A straight up killer. This man had a lot of potential.
Yo Brother!! Keep up the great work you do on here!! I am hooked on your work!!😎👍🏽👍🏽
Do Gerald Henderson next
Do a video on Sam Young from Pittsburgh. I believe he got drafted to the Pacers then was out of the league.
He had bounce!
I love his play style!
Ill never forget how he gave the warriors one of their only 9 losses that year
Good Content
In a perfect world, Dion could have been an interesting mix of Gilbert Arenas, Chauncey Bullips and Dwade.... almost like Joe DUmars, but more focus on offense and less on defense...situations like his though teach you a lesson.... I could see him being able to help a lot of kids coming up in similar scenarios. He knew how to ball and could even run point. I think if he had a better image of himself he would make a good coach. But, he always made me feel like he felt he was an outcast.
No team believed in him
@@beankobe8205To say nobody believed in Dion is a stretch. Apparently the Cavs did until they decided to trade him. The Heat also thought so as well, but was undisciplined.
One of the few with TWO Stunted Growth videos and literally got lazy after that Miami contract.
Been waiting on this one
I probably asked you for a waiters video more than anybody
Yea dion was nice but had strong flaws, lacked discipline n guidance and had a strong ego that wouldn't budge. He coulda been a really good 6 man or even a capable starter if he embraced team first priorities. He really coulda been helpful for miami during these last few seasons of them contending
He has a nice shooting form🔥🔥
Appreciate your work bro seriously. This one and the Sebastian telfair are some of my favorites. Bro can you do Renardo Sidney. He was supposed to be the next Chris Webber magic Johnson hybrid.
😂Damn didn’t even get a response.
@@auc2.0 lol you can’t win em all bro 😂😂😂. He get so many comments def a lot fall thru cracks
@@ceeb107 Lol
Another banger bro
Do a stunted growth on Tony Delk
I would like too see a Tyrus thomas one👀
Great job❤️🔥
He did one on him already.
Do a stunted growth on Brandon Jennings‼️ He was nice on the Bucks
Dion Waiters was a natural 🤘🏾🔥🔥. He could hoop fr
Dion Waiters was nice! I always think about his 2k script though 😂😂😂 "who have thought?!"
Dude was his own worst enemy....
His step back 🔥
Dion goated.
Ben Gordon, Charlie V the UConn huskies! And RODNEY STUCKEY!😂😂😂
You have to do one on Renardo Sidney, Sam Young, Wade Baldwin or Bruno Caboclo
Who tf are these dudes? Ain’t no way they stunted growth. They prolly hit their ceiling because they weren’t on anyone’s radar seriously
DW was dope but was too short sighted. The Heat are usually pretty good at finding players that are willing to fit in their role without complaining, hard working and can stay in world-class shape. Not sure how they thought he would fit in.
I’ma always love Waiters game plus he got him 1 🏆!! Respect 💯💪🏾
Well said jc not a bust but a let down for sure. All the talent but no drive to succeed.
Nothing worse than wasted talent. Dude had a golden opportunities and kept blowing it SMH. Now my Miami Heat are playing in the NBA Finals again. Let's GO HEAT 🏀🔥❤
11 years later huh.......
Use to be my favorite player in hs fr , got my same birthday too
dion had the most beautiful arch to his jumper
Crazy how this popped up. I just watched him playing madden on twitch a few weeks ago
Can you do one on James Posey?
A Philly Legend
My fellow Bahamian Brother;
I have followed your stunted growth channels since day one and to be honest..... I have come to LOATHED and have a DISDAIN for the word "Potential".
No lie,
It's a word that I make a POINT NOT to use in my everyday vernacular because when I hear someone or something or somewhere has "Potential"
I INSTANTLY think..... But,However,Although,Unfortunately etc.
Basically caveats of what's behind the word "potential"
CONSISTENCY ALWAYS BEATS Potential
He good he chillin lol
Wow I forgot about this guy. Last I remember he was getting buckets in Miami
Do a video on former Arkansas Razorback Scotty Thurman!
And Corliss Williamson!
Can you do a video on Nasir Little? Ik his career isn’t over and he’s still growing but it’s clear he is not the player people believed he could be coming out of highschool known as the Zion stopper.
He resigned with Portland, they said that bs during a High School game. He did none of that in college
@@lilcourtny08 cool bro I want to see stunted growth do a video on him
I always thought bro was mad overrated
Ja Morant will be out of the NBA even before 28 at this rate …. 🏀
I know,how-SAD.
Definitely not. I’m sure you hope tho. hold your breath.
thank you sir! Im from Cleveland. Imagine if Ky and Dion somehow shared a backcourt for 10+ years...that's a lot of interesting character right there....ill never forget the game Ky and Dion had against Chris Pauls clippers in LA. Ky nd Dion NAILED pull up 3s in the clutch before ppl were shooting 8 of them a game
This dude had potential! He had a SICK dunk I still remember to this day...just dont remember who it was againt...JAzz or Bucks....I think.
Imagine if Dion had the guidance of the dude who trained MJ and DWADE. I always thought Dion shoulda consulted DWade... Dion could really get down. HE is this era's Dajuan Wagner almost....Wagner's case wasn't his fault though.
ahhh, you got that dunk in there..... i remember it being more hype lmao
Hey! My guy I would love to see you do a video on Gerald Wallace from Alabama player and Sacramento Kings
We all waited for Waiters to.shine
Ima have to use that as the title of my next song..."Popcorn, Boats & Weed"
Could you do Ralph Sampson the first Wemby
😂😂 so bruh had panic because of the edible 😂😂
“Draymond has a shot a being a HOFer” 😂😂
He literally does… 4x NBA champ, accolades include (4x All star, All NBA 2nd/3rd Team, DPOY, 4x All Defensive First Team, 4x All D 2nd team, NBA steals leader 1 year etc)… can even date back to college ( National Player of the Year, 1st team All American, 1st team All Big 10, 2x 3rd Team All Big10, Big10 All Defense team, Big10 POTY, Big10 tournament Most outstanding player, Big10 Sixth Man of the Year, Jersey retired by MSU, etc)… I know college doesn’t count, just added it. But definitely borderline HOF or HOF credentials. Will be considered 4sure.. played a significant role for a Dynasty team. Bball isn’t just about who can score the best. Green does everything at an elite level besides score. Which he also did at a decent level b4 the addition of KD, making his scoring role lesser, which ultimately affected his shooting confidence. But Dennis Rodman made the HOF for being an elite rebounder/defender on championship teams. So he should be considered as well, at the least
@@brandonbrown7019 you just went crazy, of course Dray is a HOFer, I thought it was funny he said “a shot” 😂
I remember that rookie vs sophomore game where him and Tim Hardaway jr were trading buckets
Man seems like yesterday
Bruh i forgot bout that thc edible on the plane episode😂
Dion was definitely a Bust
can you do a stunted growth video on rayjon tucker
You should do Nate miles from Toledo was Ken a roommate at UConn
Todd Day next please!!
Bro you Have to Do Raef Lafrentz Drew Gooden Mike Dunleavy Elton Brand and Danny Manning next they are deeply missing
He still got a championship 💪🏾 but Dion waiters attitude was his main issue he didn’t want to be a role player 🥶
Do Steve Logan next from Cincinnati
You should do Michael olowokandi
Still a champ
One of the best that wasn't a super star player dion was a baller
🔥
Is you over me?!😭😭😭😝
I wished Dion Waiters was still in the league
he aint disrupt the flow tho
Anyone who knows ball knew he was his own worst enemy. That part.
He was bucket but he only wanted that Bag & the Miami gave it to him & after that his career was over
I'm Glad he finesse the league, people finesse anyways.
Can u do thon maker?
Do a video on josh howard
Bro was a straight bucket on 2k
5:51 ronald mcdonald knew
Philly streets got em
Forgot about this dude
I still got faith in Waiters island.
He got a championship to with the Lakers
i used to use him on 2k on the creating a legend mode
Dawg couldn’t read to save his career 😭😂
Gotta do 1 on Nick Young bro
As a Clevelander and Cavs fan I’m pretty content with what Kyrie did for us. We cool on dame over here ✌🏿
This my little cuz he was offered a contract by the mavs in 21 told them no they wanted him to go to the g league for a couple games but he said no
Sadly this happens a lot in baseball. The right development is everything for certain players.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was the 2nd pick in the 2012 draft, and he last played in the NBA in 2020.
Caron Butler if not done already should be next!
Caron Butler was tough and a tripple threat stud.
Dont think he should be on this list he proved his value
