John Denver’s voice always made people feel happy! He had a gift. He died too young and the world was poorer for it.
Amen
It's hard to go wrong with any John Denver song. Another beautiful song is "Fly Away" that features the Australian singer Olivia Newton John. This song is a definite 10. John Denver had very few that weren't at least a 10 in my book.
I think of that line from 'Fly Away' often, 'there's no where to go and there's no where that I'd rather be.' Captures that lost feeling of depression perfectly and in such haunting tones.
@cynthiajohnson9412 Yes, the entire song is beautiful, yet anyone who has suffered with depression can relate to that particular line. John Denver and Olivia Newton John should have done more recordings together because they sounded so good together.
Not only is he perfect for his calming affects for children but those simple words remind adults to slow down and enjoy the world around us
Exactly enjoy the sunshine and be happy a simple and beautiful message we unfortunately need to be reminded of.
John Denver's songs are so wonderful and beautiful, it's hard to imagine a world where they didn't exist. He really did make the world a better place.
If you like John Denver, you'll love 'Hey It's Good To Be Back Home Again'. Sometimes this old farm feels like a long lost friend. What a great line!
Definitely a 10, or more! Such a master talent! The world lost so much when John died! He truly did love nature, and he built a home in the mountains and lived there until he died.
A great catalog of truly positive works. Something we could use today
You are right! John loved singing to chrildren and they loved him right back. His songs are always a 10+ ro me.❤
John Denver and the Muppets had two TV specials (Christmas Together and Rocky Mountain Holiday) and he did an episode with them on the TV kids show. My kids absolutely loved them, recorded them on a VHS tape and watched every Christmas untill the tapes broke.
He did a duo with Kermit that went Gold.
They kind of looked alike.
Remember him in the movie, Oh God, with George Burns?
His true character shines through. GREAT movie.
Imagine what John Denver could have done with another 40 years.
I always picture sitting around a campfire when I hear him, somewhere like Tahoe.
The voice of an angel.
Permanently a part of the very fabric of my life. I'm 56 and my Mother was playing John Denver along with many others on the radio everyday and John Denver will always stand out. RIP to the Legend.
I just love your reactions to John Denver and his beautiful songs. He was a staple for my pre-teen and teen life and it's strange how something so beautiful was taken for granted by us. That's why your reactions are so wonderful for me b/c they've made me listen and appreciate them by seeing them through your eyes. Thank you for giving me a little piece of my youth back.
I really can’t remember coming across a John Denver song that I didn’t like.
In the mid 70s there was a movie and a tv show that were both called " Sunshine ". It was about a young hippie father whose wife passed away and left him alone with a very young daughter. The shows followed him and his friends forming a family for the child. It was a very sweet movie/show. This song was the theme song for both the movie and tv show. Sometimes, the actors would sing it to the little girl.
Thank you, I was wondering what the movie was that always made me cry when I heard this song.
Loved that show. Family is more than blood, and sacrifice for those you love.
I remember this like it was yesterday! When his wife was passing, they played John's song Lady, and to this day it rips at my heartstrings❣😭
My cousins knew John Denver in Aspen, and loved him. He used to go to hospitals and sing for people there. His voice was so healing! One of their favorites was “Starlight in Aspen,” a bittersweet tune that comforted me after a deep loss in my life. Try to sing and remember his songs, they aren’t hard to learn, and will feed your soul.
One of my favorite of his tunes is “For Baby,” which is as clear and pure and loving as it sounds.
And listen to this live performance, with Cass Elliot, of one of his greatest songs, “Leaving on a Jet Plane”
And for anyone who has read this far, I have a special gift. At the end of the chorus of “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” add these words, and only then will the song be complete:
“…I love you so”

Peace 🌈🙏
Yes..infact he use to hang out with the muppets
he appeared on their prime time tv show, and sang Day by day row by row, gona make my garden grow.
Yes, he was very much into preserving and protecting nature. I agree with everything you said about him and his voice. Unlike a lot of modern singers, you can understand every word he sings. His music almost always makes me high!
Andre suggests that John Denver songs could be good for children. He is spot-on correct! I was a children's specialist at our local library for years. I presented interactive storytimes for children infants to preschoolers. I often played John Denver songs and the kids loved those songs. We played little instruments along with the songs, danced, learned to clap with the rhythm. I brought in a friend who showed the kids sign language to Sunshine on My Shoulders! The parents loved his music too! A few years ago, some of John's songs, including Sunshine, came out in picture book form! John's music is definitely child-friendly!
Love this! John often played at the Aspen Music Camp For the Deaf, free of course .
Your English is superb my friend. The accent is thick but clear, and you have an extensive vocabulary to boot. No need to fret over anything. You're good.
John Denver saw the beauty in everything.
You should play John's songs to your beautiful son to not only calm him but help him appreciate music early.
So thankful that he lived and left us with all this beautiful music.
I really loved John D. When I heard he died, I couldn’t help but cry! When I hear his songs, I can still cry.
Another beautiful song is I'm Sorry...
My whole childhood is entwined with my Mom singing John Denver songs as she went about her day… playing them on the HIFI….I am now 61 and I can’t hear a John Denver song without thinking of my Mom….with a tear and a smile…..
John Denver was the Mr. Rogers of music, almost universally beloved. Absolutely he would have been wonderful writing and performing songs for children. His voice and lyrics are so soothing, and usually about things that are important to everyone. He was very much into nature, country living, and environment.
I have also been waiting for you to get to this song. “Fly Away” was a duet he did with Olivia Newton John and it was one of my favorite songs when I was younger. Not one of his bigger hits but beautiful nonetheless.
Absolutely!!!
My children grew up with his music. They are all in their 50s now, and can still sing all the words to his songs. RIP John
I can imagine Andre signing off and then replaying this song and singing along as loud as he could.
Gotta cut loose, bro, hit the high notes.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Makes my heart ache and soar every time.
I start singing this song every spring the first time I sit outside and feel the sunshine on my shoulders after our bitter winters.
John Denver is one of the best memories of my childhood.
My daughter and grandson both grew up listening to the music of my favorite artist, John Denver. In fact, when my grandson was going to be in his school concert when he was in 3rd grade, he was so excited to tell me they were performing John Denver’s “Gramma’s Feather Bed.” He said, “ I didn’t even have to learn it, I already knew it!”
Welcome Andre to the greatest artist of all time in my opinion. My favorite musical artist, poet, humanitarian and gentle soul, Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. AKA John Denver. 33 million records sold, 11 Gold and 5 Platinum (or multi-platinum) albums, 4 #1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 15 albums in the Billboard top 40 from 1971-1982, wrote or co-wrote over 200 of 300 songs he released, stood up against censorship of music in the halls of Congress, named poet laureate of Colorado, has 2 songs that became the state songs for 2 different states, tried to help solve the starvation crisis in Africa long before "We Are The World" collaboration was created, was a finalist to be the first civilian in space aboard the space shuttle Columbia, and many, many more achievements. When he died, I cried and the whole world lost a little more innocence and dignity. RIP JD. Your Spirit soars with the eagles just as you wanted. Became a subscriber today because of your new found love for the great John Denver.
In a such a simple way, this song really describes pure love better than just about any other song I can think of. John Denver was such a treasure. I wish we hear what kind of music he would be making today.
John Denver's music always makes me feel at peace and happy. So simple and clear but they always make me smile.
Love this song and many others by John Denver. I had the good fortune to see him live in concert in Tokyo in the mid 1970s.
Not only was he a lover of nature, but he was vehemently anti-war, which was another thing to love about him.
Thanks much for your wonderful reaction to him and his music.
I have to agree with your rating.
I never heard him do a bad song. He even wrote music for other performers and they were really good.
Another 10, John had a way to say what fail to see before our eyes.
This is one of John Denver’s earliest hits. All of his music is wonderful. I was fortunate to have seen him in concert on several occasions.
There’s nothing like camping in the mountains of Colorado and listening to John Denver by a campfire. We play him every time we visit. It’s been a tradition since the 70’s. My grandson was inspired by him to learn to play the guitar when he was 8 and learned many of his songs.
Everything John Denver did was great!
John made so many heartfelt songs. Some of my favorites are “My Sweet Lady” and “Goodbye Again”.
The orchestration behind this is just beautiful and it really reflects the feeling of riding a ski lift up the side of a snow covered slope in the sunshine - where he was when he wrote this. And as for music for kids... when mine were young I would sing them to sleep with these songs.
I dedicate this to the memory of my son Daniel, I cry every time I hear this.
JD sang a lot of songs for kids, "Rhymes and Reasons" and he was on "The Muppets Show" which was a children's Puppet TV show in the 70s/80s.
He was also in several wonderful movies. "OH, God!!!" And "The Christmas Gift." Amongst other tv show appearances.
He was a great supporter of conservation.
He grew up in a military family. His childhood seamed lonely.
He is soulful and speaks to our hearts. He's also pitch perfect and a voice that is recognizable and peaceful. I love seeing new people discover him. I grew up with him and saw him live. He's missed. ❤
I have ALWAYS loved John Denver 🎶🎵❤ He is underrated by far.John you are greatly missed .x 💗🌞🌞
I love him also. Thank you for reacting to his lovely music. He should never be forgotten.
John Denver...such..Simplicity.. such..Purity and yet such Richness and Depth...
Even a child can understand that Love like Sunshine..can make things grow...with such.. joy and happiness. ..and also with such pain and heartache.. Everything considered.. this is definitely a 10 my brother. .lol. . Thnk U so much!.. ✌️❤️😎🙏🌏
10 all day long for every song he sings!
Spreading the beauty of nature and conservation of that beautiful nature was his main theme. He also wrote about the beauty of love and he spread happiness and joy everywhere he went and to all of us who loved his music and poetic lyrics.
Play this music for your newborn, Andre. It is proven that music is good for their brain. Kenny Loggins wrote a song for his newborn (Cody's song) then eventually made a whole album of "lullabies". I played this in my newborn's room while rocking or feeding her.
John done several shows with the Muppets, a children's program, and even a Christmas special with them. To which I still watch at 70.
Yes! John Denver’s voice is absolutely amazing. It’s calming. Thank you so much for your reaction❤
Dan Fogelberg is also a singer who passed away too young. You will go down a rabbit with his many very beautiful songs! Here is a selection of songs to start with "Longer", "Leader of the Band", "Run for the Roses", " Rhythm Of The Rain" and "Same Old Lang Syne". Dan was Huge, especially in the 80's. I think you will really enjoy his music.
By the way, with Dan's songs, I definitely recommend listening to the Studio versions. His Live versions are not as powerful or as beautiful to me. Thanks
He was also a good actor. If you get a chance watch the movie Oh God with John Denver and George Burns.
John Denver is always a 10! It was a great loss for us when left this earth to sing in the Heavenly choir!
John Denver is almost always a 10, 15 or 20 out of 10! I know, the numbers don't make sense. His music is just so good and soooo worth a listen. Keep 'em coming! ❤❤❤
An absolutely stunning song. He has and continues to touch many Hearts with his music. Thank You so much for doing this reaction. It's a song I had forgotten about. It's just lovely, warm, and comforting.
John Denver was a true gem! I loved his music as a kid and still do! Thanks for such a beautiful reaction. 🥰
I loved John Denver!. I cryed when he passed away from a plain crash!
It was a huge loss to everyone.
It's strange that no matter what kind of music people listen too,,,,,, they always like J Denver.
He was a very heartfelt environmentalist.
Dude! I have been into punk, ThrashMetal, classic rock my whe life, BUT!.... this dude John Denver is awesome👍 there is nothing I can say that is negative about his beautiful music
R.I.P. JOHN DENVER
10 it's all a 10
I enjoy watching your John Denver reactions. John Denver was one of my mother's favorite artists, she had all of his albums and listened to him throughout my childhood in the 1970's. I know all these songs from hearing my mother play them, and these songs take me back to a simpler, happier time when I hear them now.
My mother loved John Denver, too. His music is the soundtrack to my childhood.
For Baby/For Bobbie is a great song, too.
It's a 100!!! You now have a song to sing to your son💖💖💖💖
love and prayers from western NC USA❤❤❤❤
I’ve been waiting for your reaction to this song since you discovered Denver.
I get the meaning of this song because I feel the same way. When I am in the sunshine I feel wonderful. Of course I grew up with John Denver music. He can still make me smile after all these years
Some of my very earliest little memories are of riding in my parents Chevrolet with the AM radio on and John Denver or Glen Campbell singing!!!
I say this every time you react to John Denver. I was given a last-minute ticket from my company to see him. This was many years ago, but i can still feel the magic of his voice and even just him. He made the audience feel like we were friends sitting around in a beautiful place with him singing to us while playing his guitar. He transcends most music genres, and no matter your preferred music, you still like John Denver.
You mentioned how you think John Denver would have been a great singer for children's music. I totally agree! He had a way of pulling so much meaning and feeling into whatever he chose to sing about...just wonderful! I'm not sure if anyone here on the channel has mentioned that he also did some acting? He did both television and movies. Several times, he was a guest on a children's TV show in the 1970s and 80s called, The Muppet Show. He also did a few Muppet movies, and a family friendly movie with the legendary actor/comedian George Burns, called "Oh God!". Definitely check it out, it's funny, even if a bit dated now, of course. 😊
He also did a lovely nature documentary on Alaska, and wrote several books.
John Denver was one of the 2 singers we were allowed to listen to from early childhood up to age 16. He was great. We were not allowed any other music and nothing else was allowed in our home. It was an extremely conservative christian household. We were heavily restricted trying to keep evil forces out of our lives. It didn't work.
I agree with all you said about John. For me, I always get good feelings running through me when he sings. Thank you. 😊
Definitely a “10”. Thank you for your reactions to the incomparable John Denver. He is so missed. Thankfully, we have his great songs to remind us of his amazing talent. 👏👏🥰🇨🇦
I knew you'd love this song of JD's!!! Again, his voice is so crisp, clear, and pure. He is a poet.
You would probably enjoy This Old Guitar, too. It's another wonderful John Denver ballad ❤🙂
Growing up, John Denver always felt like sitting in the backyard of heaven on a perfect day. Just the purest sweetest Vibe. Miss him
John Denver and the Muppets, “A Christmas Together” - I’m in my 50s, and this is still required listening at our house every Christmas 😊. Miss Piggy singing “5 Goooooooold rings” makes me laugh to this day. John sang beautifully on that album, as always. Your son will love it, too, as he gets older 🙂
The best Christmas album ever.
"Some Day's are Diamonds, Some Days are Stone" is another Great John Denver Song.
Children loved John Denver. He appeared on many children's and family tv shows.
❤ Sesame Street!! ❤ Grandma's Feather
Bed!!❤
I recently came across a video of John singing “Only You” live at a wildlife concert. I had never heard it before but it’s one of the most beautiful love songs I’ve ever heard. I highly recommend it!! And have tissues handy 😢👵🏼💜✌🏼
That entire Wildlife concert was amazing, and any performance from that concert is exceptional.
I agree
I think you mean "For You". Yes a truly beautiful love song. Some say, more than Annies Song.
Written for Johns 2nd wife.
I used to play John Denver songs to my children when they were babies. I bet your beautiful new son would enjoy it, too. ❤️
I love John and miss him very much... He left such beautiful music for all of us though, and yes John was a nature lover and flew his own plane over the Colorado mountains and that is how he eventually died... His plane crashed and he died suddenly.. John was truly a God sent to humanity. Fly Away" is another hit.
JOHN HAS A WILDLIFE CONCERT THAT HAS MANY GREAT SONGS...HE WAS A NATURE LOVER AND ACTIVIST FOR PROTECTION OF ANIMALS AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
Perhaps Love is another beautiful song by John, you might enjoy listening to Austin Brown from Home Free doing some of his solo songs on his channel 🏴
I love Perhaps Love, especially the version where he sings with Pavarotti!❤️ The lyrics are simply beautiful.
@rtins6940 He did that duet with Placido Domingo, not Pavarotti. But yes, it is beautiful!
This song was used in the movie Sunshine in 1973 about a lady that had cancer. Her boyfriend/ husband wrote this song and played it for her. Of course John’s voice was dubbed in. I saw it as a teenager and it made me cry.
Hey It's Good To Be Back Home Again and Fly Away are similar to this. Also, Matthew is beautiful.
Your English is fine! John Denver is my favorite music artist. Back Home Again,My Sweet Lady, I'm Sorry and countless others
I remember going on walks with my dad, up on his shoulders. He used to sing this, and told me it was about me. When he had dementia and didn’t recognize people anymore, I played this. For just a minute or 2 he seemed to know that I was his daughter. Can’t listen to it without crying.
I also love John. I got to wee him in concert once and the entire audience was singing along with him. It was a great evening. Thank you for the memory.
When I was a child, I used to watch a show on Public Television called Sesame Street where John Denver would occasionally be a musical guest. You are correct in your assessment about John being an excellent musician for children. As an adult, I have fond memories of his early performances and still enjoy his music as a fifty-year old adult. Take care and keep up the good work you're doing.
Yes you are right that many John Denver's songs especially his folk songs for example "Country Roads" have become very famous and have become favorite songs to sing at summer camps for children, i can say that for myself when I went to summer camps during the 1970s that his songs were sung at my camps that I went to back then. Not sure if the same now though. I also agree John Denver's voice is very clear and easy to understand which makes it a good way for people learning English to understand.
I love this song. There aren't very many popular songs i know about "hope" and this song is. John said he wrote this when he was in a sad and pensive mood. He went walking out into the forest by his home with his guitar, and with the dappled sunshine through the trees pouring down on his shoulders, he began to play a hopeful lament. He said the song expressed, " The sun is shining, but I am sad, still the sun will shine again and make me happy again, it always does."
John Denver has always been one of my favorite artists. I was heartbroken when he died.
I still am - even after all these years.
I'm an old lady now... a grandma of 11 grandchildren. I play guitar. I teach guitar to my grandkids. I use lots of John's music ìn my teaching.
There is a song by John Denver called "I'm Sorry".
The way I've heard the story was John Denver was touring a World War II museum and in this museum were some dead letter, letters that could not be delivered because the soldiers had died.
Normally when a soldier dies and the letter cannot be delivered it gets sent back to the author, but in the case of these letters the addresses either refused the letters, or they moved or whatever.
In this case, the letter was written by the wife of a soldier fighting on the Burma road in China and what makes sense to me is she had already been informed of her husband's death and refused her letter.
John Denver wrote down a portion of the letter he already had the melody for in his head when he read it.
That's the story I heard and it makes me cry every time I hear this song.
Thank you for your reactions to John Denver. I love him too! It’s been awhile since I had listened to him…until I started watching your reactions. I still feel the way I used to feel when I listened to him and I can tell that you do too. He gives me a wonderful, warm feeling. Thank you!♥️
A natural high is the best kind of high!
He was a Folk Singer at a time that is was dying out in the Music Industry. When he died, we lost one of the most under-rated singers. He was awesome & his voice was one of the best. His song Calypso was written after he spent time with Jacques Cousteau on his ship. John Denver was all about Nature.
I agree, my mom listened to John Denver her favorite she is gone now, so bittersweet when I hear John Denver.
♥Love John Denver too. Another hauntingly beautiful song of his is called Aspenglow.
I am a huge fan of John Denver's, a somewhat obscure song of his and a favorite of mine is Poems, Prayers and Promises. He describes himself perfectly in this song.
Listening to John Denver just makes your heart smile. You should definitely react to his "Back Home Again", the lyrics version if possible since English is not your native language and then watch the live version after you know the lyrics. Another wonderful, almost forgotten song is "Follow Me". This version, John Denver - Live in Australia - Follow Me, is really good.
If you get a chance watch John Denver's acting debut in the movie "Oh God!" A thoroughly enjoyable movie! (even though he doesn't sing) 😊
