- Sewing a bolster cushion couldn't be easier! Make it in any size you like, and I'll show you an easy way to add the end buttons to make indentations at each end. Whether it's for your bed, either end of the sofa or your dining room chairs, these cushions will add a touch of class to your room!

Genius Debbie, I always feel, ‘right, I could do that now’.Thank you.
The advice about sewing in the other side where you can see the stitch line for the decorative trim is brilliant!
I love how those green edges at the end of the pillow set it off SO PRETTY. I could watch you and listen to your PERFECT instructions day and night. YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER
Thank you Mary!
This way of making cover is very easy and looking very nice.I love your videos.

Thanks Bridgette, glad you're enjoying the videos!
Hi Debbie,
I want thank you for all of your videos. I just started sewing and you have been my biggest inspiration and love all your projects and your color coordinating is the best. I am 54 years old and my own mother and myself can not believe I am teaching myself to sew. Lol😁😁😁 wished I started this when my kids were young.
Glad you're enjoying it, welcome to my world!
Thank you Debbie, excellent as always 😊
I love your cube storage bag tutorial, I will definitely make it. Thanks.

Hi Deb, I cannot believe that I'm seeing this! Only last night, while reading in bed, I was thinking of making a bolster cushion for myself and thought I'd looked on You Tube today - Wow! this is incredible - you read my thoughts. For sure, I'm gonna make this. Thank you ever so much for this tute and all your tutes, as well. Please keep up the good work.
God Bless

Just for you then Stella!
My friend just asked me to make one of these about 48" long for her bed. Thanks so much. I wouldn't be able to do it without your clever, clear tutorial!
Glad to be of help Teri!
I often wondered how to get the button tight at the ends. Thanks for your video. Another tip to share with you. I made long window cushions out of professional quality foam (not from a craft store) to be covered with upholstery fabric. This is how I got the cushion inside without friction. I slit open a large trash bag so it was flat and wide enough to go around the foam cushion. Then I wrapped the bag around the foam cushion and placed it inside the cover I had made earlier (zipper enclosure). Positioning it where the corners and edges should be. I then pulled one end of the trash bag which left the cushion behind. Voila! This method can also work on smaller projects too.
Great idea, I'll use this next time! Thanks..
Love this Debbie, such a clever way to conceal the ends, thank you
Love all your tutorials you explain everything so well .i have made so many of your projects in the past looking forward to more of them .thanks Debbie

Fabulous tutorial, Debbie! These will be a great addition to the porch furniture at my family's beach house.
Loved this video and loved the bolster. I was getting a little worried since there hadn't been a video in a while. I so much enjoy watching you-you made my evening.
Sorry for the gap, I've been a bit busy this month with my new grand daughter!
Can't wait to make one for myself!
I was looking at several tutorials on making bolster and i love your the best. Thank you.
Thanks ever so for this wonderful tutorial Debbie, love the material you used and it was so nice seeing Buttons again and yes she sure has grown! Hope your granddaughter is doing well. Best wishes Carol in Cornwall.
Thanks Carol!
Brilliant! Thanks Debbie😀
Wow I loved this tutorial, love how you make everything so simple. 😍
I love the way you talk to your pup, shows you are such a sweet person!
Debbie, I love your videos. I am going to try the bolster pillow with Christmas fabric for gifts. Just wanted to share that when you put the sleeve on the pillow it goes in really fast & smooth if you cover the pillow with a plastic bag first, then just pull the bag off the end when the pillow is covered. I hope that makes sense. Also Could you make a video on how to make a cross body lined cell phone case with one zipper on the front to hold credit card or the like. The top just being a slip opening for the phone. Thank you for all the things I have learned from you. You are a great teacher. I should mention I love Bobbin, he is adorable.
Julie

Wonderful bolster project, it looks so professional. I always get a big tickle when you say "unpick the stitches" which sounds so gentle, across the pond we say "rip it out" !!!
OOh now that sounds drastic!
Thank you Debbie. Fantastic project. Hello to Bobbin. Lovely to see you in Simply Sewing Mag :)
Thank you!

Molto molto carino💖💖💖🌹
Can you do a video on how to make the cute little crossbody bag which was behind at the background..... a cute little bag that I was looking for
Really love this cushion, apart from the colours of he fabrics, it's such a cute shape. Bobbin has got big, think she still think she can sit on your knee, lol...
The colours aren't as vibrant as they look on screen, I'm not sure what happened there!
Thanks for another fab tutorial! That's such a polished, expensive looking cushion using your method.Genius! P.s I love the bag that's hanging on your dress form! Will you be doing a tutorial for it? 🤞😊x
Ah, that's a work in progress!
Debbie Shore 😃 can't wait!
Really cute! Thank you for a great pattern!
Molto molto carino brava💖💖💖🌹
Yes, that's the bag

Muy buenas noches hermoso el perro lindo el trabajo bien interesante gracias
Hello Debbie, I just wanted to let you know that I love your tutorials. I haven't said hello for awhile. Just won't you to know that I'm thinking of you
Thanks Nancy, I appreciate that
What a delightful project. I was thinking crackers for Christmas would be fun. Would it be possible to add a loose washable cover ? I’m new to their channel love it
Glad you like it! I think you may need a different pattern to make it removeable...
Hi, I have basically taught myself to sew over the past couple of years with your tutorials so thank you VERY much :) I love this bolster and would like to make some for a charity stall I sometimes help out with. My worry here is that UK fire regulations might come in to play. Do you have any advice on this? Thanks
our fabric should be ok if it's cotton, but check with the padding you put inside, the manufacturers should add this to the labels...
Thanks, it was the insulation I was concerned about - which is the most genius part. I have made a couple for our bed and they look amazing. Have a great 2018 and please keep your great tutorials coming :)
Hi, i am very new to sewing and really enjoying all your work. I was wondering what are the measurements for the two end pieces of fabric? you said that the end measures 5 inches, so is it 6 inches in width? Thank you.
the end pieces are 15.5" x 3.5", the pieces gather in the centre of the cushion, so with seam allowances and the hem which will gather, the finished size is 5". Hope that helps!
😊👍👍👍❤💗❤
Thank you for this. Can you tell us which sewing machine you are using?
That was the Butterick but it's no longer made I'm afraid...
👍💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is nice but I wish she had wrapped the tube for us to see.
Many thanks Debbie, but how can I make it 100% kitten/cat proof for indoor pedigree ragdolls?
Hi Debbie....let me say first ; I love all your videos...I have learned lots from you since I began 3 years ago. I have a question that I hope you can answer. In the background of this video there's a small purse hanging - the pocket that's on the outside is a pocket that I have yet seen a video on. Nobody has shown how to do a pocket like that. It looks boxy and it stands out and off of the bag. How in the heck is that done. I'm a pretty smart gal....I just can't imagine how that's done.
Ah, that's a project I'm doing for a book, I'll have a think about a video...
Love this! How can I purchase one of your books? I can't find one in the USA.
They should all be on Amazon, and JoAnn stock a few as well...
Bookdepository and they ship free all over the world Debbies books are wonderful
Hi Debbie, Where does one purchase tubing? Thank You
Hi Deborah, the Butterick sewing machine looks exactly like my Janome 3160. I wonder if they are related...somehow?
This one's exclusive in the US and Uk so I don't think it would be exactly the same...
Bonjour :) where is the pattern of this bag (bag in the mannequin)? Je l'adore
Ah, that's from a future book, well spotted!
about 10 months after you posted the video i am watching this. I do want to make one but have to be able to wash it. Any advice ?
I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to wash this one, maybe spray it with fabric protector and just sponge it clean?
Debbie Shore Thanks for the response! And I would like to let you know I enjoy your videos and appreciate your sharing your knowledge with us. I had an idea rather than one that should not be washed. A bolster pillow 'cover' that is in the fashion of an 'envelope-styled' pillow case and still with round ends but with overlapping long part. To be able to take pillow insert in and out of case and wash the case. (Please forgive the long run-on sentence.) I am thinking maybe not a zippered one, but that would do as last resort (in which case I would want the zipper covered and not exposed). Do you have alternative tutorials along the lines of any of these ideas?
I don't I'm afraid, I'll add it to the [very long] list though!
Debbie Shore Thank you anyway, and you are so kind. I am going to remember this instructional because it really is quite clever and produces a lovely outcome.
Hi Debbie love all your videos and I have most of your DVDs. But can you please help me I have one of your lean to sew kits for the coin purse but I can not get the clasp to look right on the fabric, I have tried to pin the fabric onto the clasp but it just don't look right I'm sorry to trouble you as I know you are very buzzy, thank you for any help you can give me.Daine
Start at the centre of the clasp and sew outwards, then you can be sure the clasp site straight, hope that works!
You could probably use a pool noodle, eh?
That's an option! I live close to a DIY shed so these are quicker for me...
