Wow,. You handled the stress of myself going from freshwater to salt. Thank you lots
Very good videos . Your persona is very sweet and natural and it’s a joy to watch .
I'm trying to go from fresh to saltwater and your video help me out a lot, thanks for the info. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽 keep up the good work!
Happy Christmas and Merry New Year! Tank is looking amazing, all the corals as well as your fish look healthy and happy! I agree with you that you do not need a sump and every million dollar piece of equipment to have a saltwater tank. You are definitely doing the proper water changes and cleaning of your canister filters and tank maintenance. Looking forward to seeing more updates and more corals!
Happy new year & Christmas to you too! Thanks so much 😊😊
I've had a completely different idea about salt water tanks.
Thank you very much for the video
Your incredible, massive fan I’m starting off with the hobby myself doing exactly how you’ve started with salt water. Beautiful tank
Your tank looks great for them filters !
I’m running 2 eheim XL’s and an FX6 on my 600L tank and can’t seem to get it look clean lol!
Thank you for this video, I'm convinced with this & your channel is always so helpful. And you are so down to earth, it is highly appreciated by your subscribers like myself. Reef is sth else.....
Great video, really keen to get my setup started now.
Thank you! 😊😊 it’s lots of fun
I'm switching an aquarium from fresh to salt...do you think I should use the fresh water currently in the tank or drain it and start again? Any advice is appreciated and keep up the great videos.
Thank you 😊 I drained mine but still had a tiny bit down the bottom (maybe 2inch deep) of the freshwater.
Thats a very good deal and informative video for a swtich. Good start there, all the best
Thanks so much!! 😊😊
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren you’re most welcome :)!
Stay up n determined thru yaa journey 👍🏾
👍
Great video I am doing something similar with a 75 gallon following your example
Oh awesome! 👏👏 thank you 😊
Another great video. 👍
Thank you 😊 😊
What cleaning did you do when you repurposed your canister filter? I’m looking at converting my 350l tropical tank and already have two canister filters.
Oh awesome, I just rinsed it out and squeezed out sponges with RODI water and then filled it up with saltwater 😊
Who here bought a an Apex for the hype. But never ended up using it properly lol.
Happy New Year to you. I think basic set up is adequate for fish only tank with some soft corals. We should clarify this so beginners won't be confused. At the end of the day complexity of equipments depend on types of livestocks you want to keep. Beginners should be informed that they can't keep SPS and some LPS with basic lights or unstable parameters.
I need help converting tap into sea water
Good for you, love your video's 👍👍Happy new year
Thank you 😊😊 happy new year to you too!
Just shows what you can do on a budget, always appreciate your tank!
Thank you 😊😊
Glad to see more females in the hobby! Real creative & effective . worth the Subscribe!
Thank you 😊😊
Awesome video as usual. Are you testing your water parameters, nitrate, phosphate etc.?
Thank you 😊😊
I’m not testing anything 🙊😬🤫
I’ll test salinity and that’s it. Instead of chasing the perfect parameters, I decided to just focus on consistent maintenance and tank cleaning. 😊 I know that’s also a big “no no” though 😬
I guess having a large tank, I have a lot more time to react before anything goes really bad.
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren Yeah true, I guess just something to keep at the back of the mind. These things can slowly be creeping up even with big water changes.
Yeah definitely! 😊
Thank you for your videos I’m goin to turn one of my fresh water tanks into salt and you have made it so easy thank you so much and also the sand you use what sort of sand it please thank you
Oh awesome! That’s great 😊 I’ve just used play sand in my tank. I know that’s meant to be a massive “no no”, but I’ve had no issues with it. Just make sure it’s rinsed out heaps 😊 it’s a much cheaper option too.
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren ok cool thank you so much that is something I’m doin tomorrow I have all the ingredients to start a salt water tank thank you so much for the help and keep posting helpful videos and also thanks for the quick reply really appreciate it
No worries at all 😊 all the best with it! How exciting! 👏👏
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren fingers crossed for tomorrow
🤞🤞🤞
I have a 4ft tank and one canister filter do you recommend I get another canister filter or should one be enough ?
Currently keeping Malawi cichlids in it but think of converting to salt instead
Not sure you will see this, But I feel I should let you know you are just turning the clock back with your set up. Many moons ago, and I mean many, When I first got into the hobby we used canister filters, under gravel filters, and the one I had in my first reef tank we used PVC, window screen, and different sizes of sand to create a filter called a plenum. I'm glad to see young people figuring out you can have a successful tank without draining the bank. The one thing I will warn you about it if you have a power outage be sure to open the canisters and leave them open until the power comes back on. Saltwater tends to get fouled faster than fresh. Don't want to pump bad water into your display tank.
Good luck to you.
Great advice! Thank you, that’s awesome! It’s crazy how people say it can’t be done now, when people used to do it. 😊👌
with no skimmer or refugium/algea reaktor, there will be no3 and po4 build up? do you do large water change to reduce it ? :)
I do water changes weekly, however I did just buy a small surface skimmer and seeing how that goes. (My latest video showing that) just because I have tangs that eat a lot haha 😊
This tank is running in 2024??
DO you think you can do the same thing but turning a saltwater tank to a freshwater tank?
Yeah absolutely! Give it all a good wash out and shouldn’t be a problem 😊😊
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren I cleaned it out and put a some fish in it and 1 fish died but the rest seem to be ok. Do you think it was because of natural causes or because of the salt?
Did you have any freshwater beneficial bacteria in the tank? If you use the same equipment, that’s fine but still need to make sure the tank is cycled or has filter media (from another freshwater tank) that will instantly cycle the tank. 😊
With my tank (but was going freshwater to saltwater) I got some live rock out of an established tank to help the tank cycle.
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren I put some goldfish so they could have bacteria for the new fish. Was that it?
What bacterial starter’s brand did you use to start the tank?
I used Seachem 😊
Aliexpress - every hobbiest best friend (or should be) !!
I agree, wish I knew about it earlier!! 😊👏
I Wana set up one so much.
