I know I recently beginning stages of my baking/cake decorating business. Have worked for other people before And have done many wedding cakes. yeah I have met some pretentious brides, and had to deal with some rude customers here and there. I can be very nice and patient especially when a woman is getting married bc I’ve been there. There is a lot stress involved. But never has a customer put their hand on me or with someone I work with if they do they are gone! That’s it. As for my business I don’t care if it’s the day before the wedding someone puts a hands on someone I work with, I will become livid! bc I love them and no one deserves that treatment. The customer would also be completely banned. There is no excuse for that behavior.

When Vera got punched it really disappointed me how Kleinfeld didn't stand by their devoted employee. When they found out that Vera was physically assaulted, their plan was to give the bride her money back and keep the dress in Kleinfeld, essential leaving the bride without a wedding dress a short time before the wedding. HOWEVER, mother of the bride (the one who punched Vera), started fake crying, and Kleinfeld gave them everything they wanted, and she had another daughter upstairs who was buying a dress and she was served as well. Nobody cared Vera was punched. And if I remember correctly, that family was even given a discount. Not only did they humiliate Vera, but they rubbed it in her face that they were treating her badly and helping the person who assaulted her. They should have given the family their money back, kept the dress, cancelled the appointment of the sister and called the police on the mother. No, the family had purchased the dress. It was theirs. Plus it was costume, so K would have had to find someone with those exact measurements to resale the dress. Besides, it was the mother, not the bride, who punched Vera. So why punish the bride? What they should have done is address the assault with the one who did it. Call the police and file a charge against the mother for her actions. That would have been the legal and adult way to handle it.

Because it is true. I stopped designing wedding dresses because time for alterations not worth it. Brides select a dress and they change everything at every fitting. One day you want a sleeve next day you dont. One day back is too much low. Next day its too shallow.

I don't really agree with the idea that the daughters should have paid for what the mother did.
Criminal responsibility is strictly personal and does not migrate to the whole family, also it must be dealed with in the appropriate ways... There's no DIY justice.
Also, I'm not sure if they legally could cancel a contract where the money has been given and the dress is technically done and delivered.
As for the other daughter, I'm also not sure if they can freely send away a customer only because she's related to a brat.
They could totally not give any discount, that's for sure, but still...
If the mother was shopping for a dress, then that was another pair of shoes and could have been dealt differently.

Our culture puts way too much time, energy, effort and money into weddings. I see a lot of narcissism in these videos and it's not always the bride. All the money and stress could be better utilized in other endeavors. There's just way, way too much emphasis and value placed on weddings, especially when marriages often don't last even very long. It seems in my experience, the less fuss in the beginning, the longer the marriage lasts, often forever, because their values are well-placed.

If people want a big wedding, they can have it. There's nothing wrong with it. My husband and I got married at the court house and had a party at my parents house. I don't remember any of it,the pictures were lousy (the only good one was of my family's dog) It was all about what my husband and mom wanted and not me. The plan was to have a bigger wedding the next year but it didn't happen. My mom suggested having it at a fire house, which is just tacky and better for a 2nd wedding. Now my brother is having a big wedding and nobody is calling him or his fiance selfish like they did me. I've been calling them selfish and saying they aren't using common sense because we're in the middle of a pandemic and cases are rising

The major thing about weddings is that it should make both the bride and the groom happy. If making them happy means having an extravagant, expensive wedding; then good for them. If making them happy means having a small get together; then good for them. No one should feel pressured to choose a wedding that disappoints them.

    • @virginiamoss7045
      @virginiamoss7045 Před 4 lety +4

@@feodorawicked5014 - This is true today. However, for the religious, truly religious, marriage is a holy sacrament, so it's not what they want, it's what the religious community wants. For most, it has been very much a community event because the couple are saying to their community, immediate and more broadly and legally: we are now a single unit of partnership willing and able to care for each other and for the children which will inevitably happen. This tells the community that the community will not have to be responsible for the children or the women who are dependent on the men.
Marriage was a construct by men to take clear ownership of women so as to be sure the offspring of their own sexuality were taken care of; my woman/women, my children. Because women are now freed from dependency, all that has, thankfully and finally for the most part, gone by the wayside. Still, it is the business of the community and the government (and religion if one goes that route) to acknowledge unions that are likely to produce children in order to assign responsibility for them so the community won't be stuck with them.
We don't really need marriage anymore because it's all about the care of children. We have lots of rules, regulations and laws about the care of children so that they are taken care of regardless of any marriages, even within marriages. We have reliable testing for paternity to assign responsibility; it should be mandatory with every birth, but that's another essay.

I'm 71 years old. I grew up at a time when every woman sewed. Equipment and supplies, fabric, patterns were reasonably priced if not inexpensive. I saved a lot of money sewing my own clothes to fit my tall, skinny frame perfectly, but after I went to full-time work at age 25 I had no time for it. I tried to come back to it after retirement and found it to be a very expensive hobby rather than a utility. No one sews anymore; no one has the time. My knowledge, however, makes it so that I know poor quality, off-the-rack clothing which is mostly what's out there. I seek and buy quality because I know quality, so I don't buy very many clothes at all. I go classic and wear them for decades, repairing or altering them as needed. It has served me well in the business world (and in my packet book).

So when the dress is made, they err on the side of caution.

Every dress is made to order DO NOT think a tailor or dress maker can “alter “ it better. Take your MEASUREMENTS at the time you buy it and let it come in PERFECT for you. The ONLY reason to ever have “on site” alterations is if your size has changed. On site alterations can cost almost as much as the dress itself. It should be a last option for emergencies only. Please just do your custom measurements. So much less stress and so much less expensive!

Sometimes Vera comes from a place of no. I've seen it. Then when the people insisted and explain, it becomes a yes. But sometimes, it's just a NO. People need to take exact pictures, take specific notes about what they like about the dress. And they should be asking staff at the purchase, "how is this dress going to be different when it is new? Color differences, fabric stiffness, or any material substitutions, variances in design". They are individual custom pieces. You need to be clear about what you expect and have it written down on the order sheet. And then double and triple check the order sheet for sizes and details before signing.

It’s so crazy to see how much the style of wedding dresses has changed over the last 10 years!

If people really get this upset over something this stupid, then they don’t understand the real meaning of marriage

Assault and Battery at the very least... And if the mother punched Vera, a stranger, you can only imagine what the bride endured her whole life😞

I really don't get it why you would get so stressed and emotional over a frock, I'm married and the day is about making a commitment, the lady who physically assaulted the lovely Vera should have been put in the local cell for a couple of days to calm down and then made to give a very public apology.

If you hit me, make sure I can't ever get back up. One of us is leaving in a body bag, and the other in handcuffs.

With the customer’s permission, they should take photos and attach them to their order forms so that when they come back for fittings, they’ll see how they looked.

Someone made a point, that a lot of these shows are several years old, some 10+ years old and not everyone had the great cameras/ smart phones we all have now, that can snap a quick pic...If they did, everyone would snap their gown and send it to the girlfriends before they ever left the store.

I’m so glad I didn’t have to go through this. I went to a sample sale by myself, picked out four dresses myself, & bought the second one that I tried on. The in house seamstress did an excellent job of sizing the dress down.

Randy makes the show real. And to the mom who socked one of the staff, she should have been banned from the store, here daughter could come in to complete the fitting or not but the dress is theirs...with stern warning to the mom, do you want jail or not.
