Solid HWID bans are only really good to implement with an intrusive Anti Cheat. I think Valve's approach is to be quick enough to ban cheaters, before they can cause harm.

came back to CS2 and I'm seeing less cheaters recently, I'm a bit glad for that
stopped playing at around 16-17k rating came back after the update, put me back in 14k and to my surprise in 10 games we didnt find any cheaters. Hopefully not a short spark of hope.

The cheater will always be in this game, no matter how well the VAC system works, people will still discover gaps in it to avoid them and be able to cheat.

I actually havent encountered any rage hackers in the past days. For some reason games became also way easier in the 15-20k elo...i wonder why :D
3:00 minutes into this video I literally paused and queued for premier. I was so excited for the new VAC stuff. 5 legit cheaters in enemy team :). only last round they did go full blatant, maybe to give us peace of mind about wondering if they were actually cheating or not.
