    Spot on! I'm amazed how good it sounds, never new he did this hybrid picking on this intro!

      Yeah it does sound better if you play two notes rather than one

    Absolutely balls bro!!! Thick gilmour here. Hats off my man. Killer job. I had NO idea he was picking more than one string at a time. Yup I was playing it wrong. But I got that slow lift into Em that I love so much.

      Thanks! Yeah that slow pull up on the whammy with the Em is such a killer way to start the song

      David actually does that a lot. It’s 1 of the techniques he uses to add harmonics to his playing.

    The sections where you let the sound feedback are too long, but I understand that might have been to make a point. Other than that, you are one of the first players I have ever seen play the into correctly.

    • @lionofnaples
      @lionofnaples  Před 6 měsíci

      Thanks. My setup wasn’t loud enough to squeeze out those harmonics quicker, but it was already too loud as is and I didn’t want to risk it

    Great work again, just like Comfortably Numb 👌
    The guitar sound is fantastic and done without EMGs 🤔
    Is it possible for a little breakdown from guitar to effects to amp please?

    • @lionofnaples
      @lionofnaples  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thank you. My pickups are more similar to Gilmour’s Black Strat, but I do have the EMG SPC midbooster installed on it (lmk if you’re interested in the complete spec list for my guitar). Generally, for any songs post-Roger Waters, I turn down my master tone and turn up the SPC a bit to make it sound more like David’s candy apple red Strat. Here, I am actually turning up the SPC to the max on a long note in an attempt to squeeze out harmonics from the feedback.
      As for pedals & amps, I am using none :). I plug into a USB audio interface to my computer, where I am using plugins and virtual effects/amps more or less based on David’s gear, depending on the era. For this song, it’s compressor > big muff > hiwatt > some chorus > a bit of rotating speaker > delay > reverb

      It’s very subtle and hard to miss but it makes a lot of difference to the sound.
      I think when they released the Pompeii dvd, they probably felt like they didn’t need to release anything else from that tour

    Can you please tell me what kind of neck you have on this Strat. Is it Urethane, or nitro finish. My 1995 MIM Candy Apple Red Strat with EMG DG20 needs a new neck and in the market for a 50's vintage but I'm not sure which to get. His looks somewhere in-between light and tinted Maple. Cheers. PS. hope you're still on good terms with your neighbors!

    • @lionofnaples
      @lionofnaples  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi, the neck on my Strat came from Warmoth. When I ordered it, I chose options that were pretty modern and non-traditional for a Strat (compound radius, stainless steel frets, black pearl inlays, etc.), but I think they do offer options that are accurate to vintage spec if that’s what you’re going for. They don’t come with the Fender logo.
      It is polyurethane finish in the honey vintage tint, not sure if they offer nitro. I think their regular vintage tint option is a closer color to what David had, at least in the 80s when his guitar was still new at the time.

      You should check out DG playing Sorrow on the Fender Anniversary concert. Strat pack. Another great view of his hands picking this intro. I know it’s a moot point but it’s still interesting and different to see him play Floyd without his full rig. He just walks out and plugs in….

    How does he and you keep it in tune?

    • @lionofnaples
      @lionofnaples  Před 7 měsíci

      Well David has the best guitar techs possible at his disposal so it’s easy for him.
      For me, I just make sure the guitar nut and bridge saddles are properly lubricated, that way when I use the whammy it doesn’t go out of tune that much

    • @lionofnaples
      @lionofnaples  Před rokem +1

      @@3dbildermacher590 yeah, wanting the details of this music to be performed right is why I have this channel. I see many other people on CZcams I feel not doing it justice. But I am opinionated of course.
      The music I make myself is more modern and more on the pop side. Still guitar based, but with less guitar solos.
