    In this lesson, I play the intro to Sorrow by Pink Floyd, first released on A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
    I used the Kemper Stage into Logic Pro with a profile from Michael Britt.

      For sure. The guitar sound is one of the cleanest, heaviest, and most beautiful I've ever heard.

    That long and drawn out "falling" sound that Gilmour does is my favorite. I don't know what it's called, but damn I love it.

    You nailed the sound! The awesome, Gilmour-induced feedback with whammy, making the Strat cry and howl in anguish, would make it perfect. BTW, Sorrow is originally from The Division Bell album, I believe. Thanks for the lesson.

    Brilliance my friend! I never realized it is octaves, was always just blasting distortion and reverb when I tried to re-created, but def is. The compression is also key… I remember reading they did over dubs in a stadium for the ultimate reverb… Keep up the great work! ✌️

    Gilmour plays it with whiteout a plectrum. He used the thump for the low strings, and the index and ring finger for the higher strings and the octave.

      You can hear the octaves a bit clearer when Gilmour plays it with the Black Strat in Pompeii

    • @conan5885
      @conan5885 Před 3 lety +3

      Neither did i, for a very long time.... and every time i tried it without the octave note it never sounded right. When i finally figured it out everything felled into place 😀
      Nevertheless David doesn't really "strum" this with the pick, he "picks" both strings simultaneously with the pick and his middle finger on the DSOT, Venice, Knebworth, Pulse, and the Strat Pack, and with thumb and index finger on the last RTL tour. That's why you can hear the octave more clearly on the RTL tour, picking both strings with the fingers, the high note stands up more.

    Why there is no feedback effect

    • @guitarlounge
      @guitarlounge  Před 4 lety +1

      The main reason is that I'm using a Kemper direct to Logic which makes it harder to generate feedback. Also combined with the fact that I can't record/play loudly where I live...

    • @rockinchippy
      @rockinchippy Před 3 lety +2

      You should get a Jackson PC1, the sustainer has a feedback mode. It’s perfect for this. Nice job 👍🏻
