    Great review Sung.
    I love my rtr and kit Elements. This last year I have been working with my SCX10.3 and really like it too. I've never had a Traxxas but I've seen what you can do with your Bronco and I'm impressed.
    Happy New Year and keep up the great videos.

      Happy New Year! This year’s list was really tough to the point that I focused on RTR and removed Kits from the list. Even then it was tough. The 2021 Bronco has been quite impressive, and a keeper for sure.

      Thank you very much for the comment. Greatly appreciate it. The video was put together early last year. At that time, Vanquish offered only as a kit, so it was not included. The video was focused on RTR RC's. However, now that they are offering it, it should definitely be included now.

    Best way to buy the Ecto is to buy the Gatekeeper at $299(same as the Sendero SE) and then an Ecto body for another $43. Total price $342 vs. $399 for the Ecto. You also have the gatekeeper body as a secondary spare

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem +2

      Those were all accounted for when I chose the list. You won't go wrong with any of them. Although not on the list, especially since you are looking for your son and grandson, Traxxas TRX4 Sport will be a great option. That rig is bombproof, and price is reasonable and since it's been around for a while, there are tons of available parts and upgrades.

    Nice video, thank you. Maybe a naive question - but is the TRX4 the better (performance / value) then the RGT Rescuer (a.k.a. FTX Outback Tracker)?

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem +2

      Thank you very much. Although I don't have a personal experience with RGT Rescuer/FTX Outback Tracker, it looks to be a solid alternative to TRX4. The biggest drawback seems to be on the gearset though. Ring and pinion gears are straight-cut and “powder-alloy”. So, while they won’t be quite as strong as their TRX4 counterparts, they should stand up to abusive driving on a 2S battery and reasonably well even on 3S. For that reason alone, it might be better to go with TRX4. They are built bomb proof, and there are tons of 3rd party parts available for it. Good luck in your decision.

  • @mangler.m4950
    @mangler.m4950 Před rokem +3

    The TRX 4 might be the most expensive on this list, but it is the best value due to everything it has. It has features that were not talked about in this video like cruise control. Push a button the set speed and adjust it with the multifunction dial. It also has portal axles, 2 speed transmission, and remote activated locking differentials. It also has, in my opinion, the best tires that come stock on the truck. It’s great at crawling and trail truck driving. With everything that it comes with, $550 is not bad. Its great value for the money considering you can’t upgrade any of these other trucks to have all these features for the difference in price.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem

      TRX4 does offer a lot for the money. It's not the best crawler of the bunch, but it is quite capable nonetheless. One of the reason, I have it on the list. Thanks for your inputs. It sounds like you are enjoying it as much as I do.

      I don't specifically have a list other than trying to choose top 7, and then trying to narrow it down to top 5. Rochobby 1:10 Atlas was not on my list top 7 list. It's not that it's a bad RC, but there were few others that stood out better in my personal opinion.

    How does the Sendero SE compare to the Sendero HD? The HD is only like 60 bucks more.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem +3

      I would go with Sendero SE if you like to tinker and upgrade your rigs. If you prefer to keep your rigs with minor upgrades such as wheels/tires only, then Sendero HD might be a decent option as well only because it comes with bearings, metal links, metal shock body. But keep in mind that this is preliminary recommendation as I haven't had enough time with new Stealth XF transmission.

    • @MudMonsterRacing4
      @MudMonsterRacing4 Před rokem +1

      @Sg I noticed that the HD has behind the axle steering and the SE is in front. Another good mark for the HD

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem

      @Sg Personally I tend to lean towards performance, and thus I prefer SOA setup over CMS setup anyday. If you are looking for performance, Sendero SE will be a better choice.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem +1

      @@MudMonsterRacing4 Actually SE also has behind the axle drag link. The steering link that you see up front is due to Servo on Axle (SOA) setup.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem

      @Sg It's cost cutting to try to keep the price under $300, but don't let that be a turn off. After my first drive, I am totally impressed with the performance of SE as a package. I have tried many rigs on my testing ground, and SE was the only second rig to ever clear Line #4 as a stock rig, that says something about the performance of it. Unless you like the look of HD better than SE, than I would not hesitate to go with SE for the following reasons: 1) SOA vs. CMS setup, 2) Lower CG and more front weighted Stealth XF trans, 3) Pinseeker tires over General Grabbers, 4) longer wheelbase of SE, 5) ability to upgrade to High Clearance links and lower replacement cost that comes from plastic links. The mini-t spring setup of SE should minimize the longevity of the plastic shock body. The bushings have its place, but for my style of driving, bearings would be better. It's not an expensive upgrade, but one that takes a long time to change everything out...this is my only gripe.

    Is is jut my untrained eye, or does this car shows surprising similarities with the RGT Challenger ...

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před rokem +1

      RGT Challenger seem to be using Powerwagon body (or something similar to it). Powerwagon body is a favorite body for many crawlers. Once again, I don't have much experience with RGT platforms so I can't really help you here. That being said, most platforms are based on Axial SCX10.2 including Element with some changes of their own. So I am assuming that is the case with the RGT as well.

    I have the new basecamp. I have noticed it rubs against linkage on left turns. I've been told I need a new servo and controller to make fix it proper. After paying well over $400 I would expect an RTR to be just that...NOT! Had to spend another $100 for batteries and charger? Now I'm noticing the body rubs and rattles. I've attempted to contact Axial with no luck. Too much use to return so I'm stuck! Do your homework. I'd have gone a different direction if I knew what I was getting into

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Servo rubbing against linkage on turns means that it's turning in more than it needs to be. I would first check to see that the servo horn is set correctly in neutral. If set correctly, check to see if the RTR transmitter has the capability to adjust end adjustment. Some RTR transmitter also includes this functionality, but most don't. If not then a better transmitter will allow you to adjust the end adjustment which will fix that issue. Please keep in mind that typically servos on new RTR is one of the first components that needs to be swapped out. This is the case not just with Axial, but also true with most other brands. Fortunately you can find much better servos for cheaper prices on Amazon, and they have been pretty reliable and much stronger. That being said, there is some learning curve in learning to work on RCs be it RTR or kit. Good luck.

    In Canada, 10 scale crawlers cost so much that ill never own one. It kills me. 550 in the us is 1000 plus tax in Canada. The basecamp costs 600. Ive made my peace with it. CZcamsrs get them for free and they become ornaments. Im 44 with ptsd and on a pension and since starting the hobby last year ive found it to be a very toxic community. Its a shame.

    • @BigSungHobbies
      @BigSungHobbies  Před 7 měsíci

      Wow, I did not realize that there was that much of price difference between Canada vs. US. Unfortunately, 1/10 scale crawlers are not cheap, and it's an expensive hobby. As for your comment about CZcamsrs getting RCs for free that might true of the big channels, but that isn't the case for majority of us. I know I paid for every single RCs that are featured in my channel. Also not all RC community are toxic. Hope you are able to find better one.
